Natasha, 04 Sep 2010Can the phone upgrade just by using the wifi, if you get th... more@ Natasha,

Currently, ALL updates are done on PC, with a usb connection from PC to Phone.
You can't update Android on this phone OTA(Over the air), as of yet, if ever.

If you don't have the tariff, for net allowance, Then change to one that does, as not having that tariff and a phone like this, is a waste.

But you can use wifi for other things like downloading apps or sending mails, etc, but its limited, to locations with wifi, like your house, or somewhere outdoors that does it, whereas 3G is active pretty much all the time, and everywhere.

At the moment, the P500 is Android 2.1 spec-ed, according to a source at LG, and it's release hasn't been finalised outside of korea.

you also have the Optimus Z(Korea), future releases of the Optimus Pad, and the E720 Optimus Chic(which according to LG, will be the first to ship with Android 2.2), and with Android 3.0 on the near horizon, IMO, it won't really matter, as 2.2 will be history.

blue charger, 04 Sep 2010nice looking very senitive touch screen very hard to set up... more@ blue charger,

                    Arrgh...wall of text!!!

                    firstly,

                    1. phone o2, tell them to switch tariff's(instant).
                    2. do a bit of thinking, as if you aren't on a tariff that has web allowance, it's no wonder it's eating all your credit.!!
                    3. with 3G and wifi switched on, it will default to 3G, so pick either one or the other.
                    4. the phone is very easy to set up, and you don't need a plectrum.
                    5. it does other languages fine, I know a couple of foreign people who own this phone, and they have no issues, as each language is seperate, not a translation.
6.for the sim, follow the instructions, or here's an idea, phone o2 customer services from your phone, they will guide you through it.

hi. i'm about to buy a new phone in the near future. i'm deciding between lg gt540 and samsung jet. i'd like to know if there's a limit as regards the number of text messages (sms) that you can store in the phone memory? jet can store only 500 sms in its phone memory. any help would be fine. thanks a lot. :)

yeah, make sure that the box in Settings - SD card settings, is unticked, for mass storage, and when you connect to the pc, just follow the prompt notification you get, when usb is connected.

TBH, it's a waste of time, the pc suite, with this phone.
far easier just connecting the phone via usb, wifi, or syncing via the net.

You can use usb, to move files, etc, across.

A file manager, with either usb, wifi or bluetooth.

or there are a couple of apps on the market that let you use your wifi network to "host" your phone, so you connect with any web browser on the pc, and upload/download files from phone to pc, or pc to phone.
