I bought my GT540 from Carphone Warehouse 3 weeks ago on T-Mobile (its actually unlocked...thanks CPW)
The problem is my phone keeps losing its signal. Randomly I keep getting "No Service"..re-booting the phones seems to restore things.
I know the signal is ok..a Nokia N95 8Gb held next to this phone shows full signal on Virgin (same network)
Do I need to return the phone or is there something I can do to avoid this? Or is it a bug thats likely to be corrected?
Many thanks in advance.

By Far the best LG Phone I Hav Had so Far. I Hav not had any problems with this phone at all.
The Screen is Very sensitive for a resistive, the OS Responds well the 256MB RAM makes it a reliable device for running multiple apps at the same time. Realtime syncronization with my computer or practically any bluetooth device and sound is crisp which is downfall for many phones.
Downfalls:
Only has 130MB of onboard space - but supports upto 32GB card so thats not a problem.
Ships with older 1.6 android but LG have said they will release a 2.1 update later this year.
Does not support Flash - but I recon they could update it if u hassle them enough.
Overall
This is best budget phone ive found, I bought it for £100 which I consider a bargain for what it can do.
Its well up there for a phone thats cheap wel built looks nice adn jam packed full of surprises.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2010the promixity sensor is not needed on a resistive phone so ... moreIf you had bothered to read my post correctly you would of seen that I already own an LG Arena and I was commenting on how given the age of the Arena surely the price of the components used would of come down in price and using them to have made the Optimus better wouldn't of increased the price that much.

Cobra , 08 Jan 2010I hope to see Android phones with better specifications fro... moreCan't you read the specs? I'm not english and I could read them saying it has GPS and WiFi. And what's the problem of having only 3MP? Do you think that resolution is the only factor that determines the quality of a camera? you're very wrong.

jay, 23 Aug 2010Please does anyone knows how to get this gt540 connected to... more@ Jay,
Try looking on 3's site, they have correct settings there, and will send them out via SMS.
@ biscuits,
get a grip..you had bad luck, and NO, the change from 3g to 2g, does not involve a signal loss of 30 seconds, it's instant...you have issues with your network, or signal, so look into that.
@grin,
No, theres not much you can do, apart from move with the times, the old folder style is dead.
There are different apps on the market though, of which some you may like, for chat.

The Russian LG website have official stated in their blog that the LG gt540 Optimus will get a 2.1 update in September, but no word on the UK english LG site!
It seems that their will be no more updates to Android 2.2 and above beacuse of LG's lack of support and that they will be bringing out new phones with 2.2 in them.
