Anonymous, 02 Feb 2011still i dont get it.. who can teach me how to use my mp3 ri... moreI did what Brijesh Praveen suggested on this forum by creating a folder in the root directory of my sd card and calling it Media and inside this folder i placed another folder and called it notifications, i did insert around six of my favourite mp3 into this new notifications folder, and later when i touched settings on my GT540 and went into music and sound and then touched on notifications i did find these mp3 ring tones to choose as notification ring tone and i did choose one from the list and later i did send a text from my Motorola Defy to the GT540 and my previously chosen ringtone did play on the GT540 when it received the text message notification, therefore if it works for me then it is easy to do, as i am an old man.
( i actualy put the new media folder into the DCIM folder as i did not know which folder is root directory )

Yeah i have one of these units the GT540 and its not too bad at all especially when its low cost is taken into consideration.
Regarding the up grade to 2.1 well um er i am around 60 and yep im a man and some would say that i am no more intelligent than a mushroom growing on a dollop of cow dung well i have had the GT540 for a nearly two days and after reading posts on this forum regarding the upgrade to 2.1 i decided to go for it and just did a google search of LG mobile sync and wham pow zammy within 10 minutes my update had started.
Now i sorta got a little freaked out and despondent when the download got stuck on 4 percent for around 5 minutes and when it stopped and some instructions just popped up for me to disconnect my handset and do a reset by removing my battery and then plug the USB back in and restart the phone and at the same time hold the volume switch in the down position until some some notifications did appear on the screen and then i let it go and put the battery back in restarted it and resumed the download phew,
well by this stage i had some doubts, yes i am a bad boy, anyways the download soon took of like a led zeppelhin and it seemed more stationary than moving and after a long time ( i went and washed and dried the dishes and toasted two slices then whacked on some real butter and penut paste ) anywys it all ended in success which had me grinning and wondering what my next big adventure will consist of.
I have had a motorola quench and i have now a motorola Defy and the Defy certainly well outperforms the quench in all aspects of touch and handeling and i can say that this GT540 is a great phone and most certainly good value when you consider how inexpensive it is.... Yes i have been playing with it and its quite nice, the GT540 i mean, grin

i m not so excited with this phone.. it is too big and not comfortable.. lack of flash in camera DOES matter ..
although it has better touch screen than i expected.. i still have an issue with seeing new events like message and missed calls..
i think anyone who wants to buy an android phone should go for SE x10 mini. much more comfortable device with 5 megapixels camera with flash.. and with much better touch screen (it has a capacitive one)

iIn the root directory of your SD card, create a folder called "Media", and inside that folder, create another folder called "Notifications" (you can also add folders called Wallpaper, UI, Ringtones, for their own stuff).
Place your desired tones in the newly made Notifications folder, and in your main settings screen, you can select the Notifications sounds you want, for everything other than texts.
- this screen lets you select notifications for everything bar texts/MMS.
If you want to use a different text tone, than the normal ones, enter your text window(green icon on main home screen, and press menu, then settings, scroll down to ringtone, and it will show all the ones you have added.
This lets you use a ringtone for calls, in the main phone settings, a notification for everything(bar texts), and in the text menu, a seperate ringtone for texts/MMS, etc.

i think very bad device, because we will not install java app. like sbi mobile banking and sensex streamer from bseindia.com
hence i not recommended

How do i set up the internet?? i try logging into Facebook with the apps but its telling me the server is not responding... i added APN... but dont kno where i did wrong... I'm in the USA, and i have T-Mobile service...
