We've had this as a company Android test phone and yes, its a piece of crap. But I was able to update the OS version to Eclair using a Vodafone rom. hehe

i followed instructions everytime on 3 different computers now tryed about 30 times to upgrade and something always goes wrong, it will either get to 4% then stop or just not find phone at all and i have tryed all drivers avalible online!!! do u need to have lg pc sync software on pc?????

steve, 15 Jan 2011lg software is complete crap and does not work pc suite, ph... moreI've just updated my gt540 to android 2.1 from LG. Download and run B2CApp:

in LG mobile support tool, Click install driver usb >> gt540 to install driver.
On phone: turn off mass storage only
then click Start update in LG mobile support tool.

im from ecuador, i have this phone and i can say its perfect but it isnt. perfomance is great, internet capabilities are extensive. something i dont appreciate is his managing file system, i hate having store all my pictures and photos into of one only folder, movies also. can i create folders in this phone?

utter rubbish have tried + 3 friends to attach a photo to a sms no go have also tried to update to 2.1 version again total waste of time

go phone but i have give up trying to update it from LG to 2.1 tryed over 20 times and will not get past 4%, but its fine on 1.6.

ang, 11 Jan 2011how do u change ur message tones?Right, on the SD card, create a folder called "Media" - without the quotes obviously..
Then inside that "Media" folder, create folders called, "Notifications", "Ringtones", "Alarms". - again, without quotes.
Now, if you want to change your message tone, chuck your .mp3's in the "Notifications" folder, then open your message client(the little green icon on the home screen), press the menu touch sensitive button(lower left under the screen), select "Settings" then scroll down to Ringtones, and just change it there.
