Android27, 27 Mar 2015True, I see what you mean.
The FIRST OS is the best beca... moreAt that time lg o2x was the best phone with nvidia in the game. Adreno was still weak. But as i said froyo was good on that phone jusy froyo.
For L90 i dont think thay Lg have a clue how L90 is good value for the money from that series and if they do they made a misstake because of upcoming lg budget phones. You dont see ir on sprint, magna etc. They offer less. I will soon buy an Zenfone 2 when its released because of what you get for that money. Its a risky move because of intel as soc but i will give it a try. The reason why i will buy Z2 is because its future proof.

Punisher, 27 Mar 2015I dont think phones that comes with latest OS out from the ... moreTrue, I see what you mean.
The FIRST OS is the best because, the optimizations are specific ONLY to that particular device and furthermore, the exact model. So yes, it's true that the upgrade isn't THAT bug-free to begin with.
FYI, the Kitkat version was VERY similar to the G2, and thus the Lollipop version too, appears uncannily similar to the G3 interface. I think they just ported the ROM with a few customizations here and there. Maybe, to please old time users so that they would recommend new/potential users an LG offering (like the upcoming Magna, Spirit, Fino)
Still, because I'm staying in for the long haul, I'd prefer to stick to the latest update before finally considering a downgrade or a switch to CM12.
I find this Lollipop update a bit slow compared to the original Kitkat version. So if one is mulling over whether one should upgrade, then I suggest that one should not. Except for the cosmetics, there isn't any reason to upgrade.
Any other update related questions are welcomed.
I'm on 5.0.2
v20a-IND-XX.
Root.
Stock ROM.
Stock Recovery.
Oh, and BTW, I never knew you had the unfortunate opportunity to use the infamous Optimus 2X. Ah, I just can't push it out of my mind. That measly amount of RAM, Heating furnace like Nvidia chipset and last but not the least, horrible update cycle. I'm glad someone stole it. Frustration can only be transferred from one person to another.

Android27, 25 Mar 2015Hmmm...then you might not have had an update, yet. Why, ... moreI dont think phones that comes with latest OS out from the box at launch are uograde to later OS as it would be phone with out of box OS. Its just a makeover or remake of upgradet OS. Its not optimized in same way as newest released phone with latest OS out of the box. If you know what i mean. I had one Lg before it was optimus 2x. Yes it had 2 OS upgrade but it was toxic every way with every update and upgrade. That phone would stay at froyo as it was made for froyo from the beginning. The reason im saying this is that if something doesnt work with l90 lollipop. There is no guarantee that they will maintain it. Now if you buy for ex lg flex 2 that phone is already made from lollipop and other phones etc. This is something ive noticed with phones that i never thought of before. They are made for first OS with all gimmicks, widgets etc and all works for that OS. Now ig they upgrade OS that stop to work at 80% of cases. Because its made as remake OS

Why, what happened to your old LG phone ? I'm suspecing something terrible happened, or else, updates aren't that toxic.
I could've continued with my old ways, but I finally managed to jump the other side. Still, it wouldn't matter. Really, Lollipop would make not much of a difference except for eye candy (more on that later) so you're better off without taking the risk (if you are on root access)
Now that I'm done with backups and all that, I should update my comments regarding the update.
I used 'Superbackup' to create backups of nearly EVERYTHING. Calls, messages, contacts and even apps. The folder where the backup was parked, weighed in around a GB worth of data.
Tried updating via phone but unfortunately it ran into problems soon after the download finished. The update came to a halt within the first few seconds of the process with a strange 0x1111000 error message and so did my life. The process exited itself with a message that I'm on root access and hence, no updates for you.
A big punch to the face, if you consider how trivial the issue seems.
I gave it one more try by first unrooting via 'SuperSU' app (knowning that it still does not reset the LG RCT counter) hoping to get the update to working but strangely, it began downloading the garangutan file AGAIN !
I almost gave up but before doing so, for the sake of throroughness, I thought I should give it a last try, only this time using the LG Tool on my Laptop and NOT via phone. So this time around, the update weighed in around 1107mb and fortunately, IT WORKED !
So now I'm on Lollipop, however I still performed a factory reset just in case it ran buggy with all that data but no, everything went fine. I have a few observations though,
1. Swiping up from the bottom to access Quickmemo is GONE. (dunno of some new shortcut)
2. Tapping on time/date at the top notification bar doesn't takes you to its setting
3. Home screen rotation GONE
4. I miss this badly but swipe animation in lockscreen (old LG G2 style) is GONE TOO
5. An option to download one free dictionary, but who uses stock dictionary anyway
6. Lockscreen widgets GONE (well, that's bad)
7. Face unlock buried deep within settings (nobody should use it anyway)
8. Home screen swipe effect, the default one on Kitkat, GONE
9. Apps take longer to install, but quicker to launch
10. Keyboard upgraded with more customizations including swype
11. Sliding the volume sliders don't play the preview anymore (but play inside settings)
12. Notifications settings for apps under sounds added
13. Tapping battery icon under settings won't take you to stats (trivial)
.
.
.
There are many more settings that I'm discovering at the time of posting, but my GREATEST GRIPE is that they removed widgets for lock screen. I prefer using stock settings to a third party app. Why fix what's not broken ? Anyway, the UI is really something to experience. Much easier on the eyes, hence little to no distraction.
Except a few cosmetic changes, there isn't much of a difference in moving from Kitkat to Lollipop, though it is a bit early to predict. It is commendable that the update isn't as buggy as those who commented (on the D410 page) made it out to be, but I do not miss the 4.4.2 days much.
Hope this helps.

Punisher, 22 Mar 2015Is it stable? Bugs? App crashes?I haven't updated as I have a lot of backing up to do. I don't want to lose important data, comprising mostly text files and messages.
Besides, the update is ONLY for the D410 (dual SIM) in select countries. So if I remember correctly, the update for T-Mobile D405 is yet to be released. Assuming you're on that particular model.
Go through the D410 comments here on GSMArena and you might gain some insight into the problems, but for the most part, the bugs aren't massive. At least not enough to disrupt your workflow.
Also, while I'm at it, go through these threads

After using it for almost a year, the phone is seamless after all the rooting and customization. It with stands all, But the battery back is the only with the wavy graphs. Rest the graphics performance and all the features which is in-built are Awesome.
Its a handy phone with many tweaks and customization.
Some of my favys are:
-Cliptray
-Q slide
-Memo (with individual memo locks)
-Call blocking and privacy keeper
-Messaging theme, management for spam and saved msgs
-Guest Mode
-Pop-up call and msgs
-Best feature comes in when u put the Quick window cover

Please note that the following applies to D410.
Update already released here 2-3 days ago. This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that an update was available.
Actually, the backstory is, that I had turned off the notifications because I had no hope for an update. However, I think it is due the lack of expectation that made the discovery even sweeter.
Oh, and while I'm at it, I should also mention that the update weighs in around 700mb+ and that you NEED TO BE ON STOCK ROM to receive it. Root or No Root, doesn't matter, but the ROM should be Stock, no Custom ROMs.
I can't upload the pic at the moment, but I'm sure the update is more 700mb+
