Thephonegeek, 13 Nov 2012Hey people, this phone is only made by LG. But the software... moreThats like saying the nokia 820 or the htc 8x is a Microsoft Flagship as they dictate the spec of the handsets... This isnt the case. It isnt LG's flag ship, but runs parrallel if you like. This isn't googles flag ship. sorry mate, but get your stuff right and stop slagging your competition. No doubt your either an apple fan boy, or a windows fan boy

I thought of getting this one via Google play, but Play not available in my country :( which means I have to get the LG version of the phone, which is so not happening. I don't want a phone for that high price and without expandable memory. I will have to wait for the next best, maybe Sammy after all. HTC droid dna also dissapointed with no SD slot.

I have one biiig question about the on screen / virtual buttons: how do you edit them?? The screen is 15:9 aspect ratio and with the on screen buttons on it the aspect becomes 14:9, and the thing is that I HATE black bars, and I don't want apps to run with black bars, and also many apps are HD (1280*720) so having an app running in 1196*672 (that's the 16:9 resolution the app is going to take in the remaining area) will make it become blurry(not working in native resolution).
But then it hit me: the phone has 48 pixels on the side beside the HD screen. What if I could place those virtual buttons in that place, cause many of the apps that I have mentioned work in landscape mode. But the problem is that I've seen that on the Galaxy Nexus the buttons stay in the same place, they just rotate the orientation. But on the Nexus 7, the virtual buttons rotate with the image and app.
So, is it possible to make the virtual buttons move to the long part of the phone / the 48*1280 part when in landscape mode like it happens on the Nexus 7 ( the buttons always remain on the bottom of the screen, even when rotate ) in some way?? And I know about the option to remove them at all, but then android becomes tricky..

It's probably a great phone for the price. There are, however, some issues I've either seen on YouTube reviews or articles:
1. The back glass is curved so it rests on two outer edges; thus, and combined with the slippery glass, it will slide off a surface if not completely flat.
2. One reviewer dropped it. The back broke near the camera.
3. A reviewer claimed a Google rep. dropped it and broke the back glass.
4. A "bumper" is sold as an accessory. Conclusion: I imagine Google is aware of this 'design flaw.'
So if you get it, be careful and protect the back glass.
Next:
I find it unnerving to see some online phone outlets already selling this phone at an elevated price. These are the same people who'd sell a distressed person a bottle of water for 10 USD. Capitalism is cool; but not like this!
Next:
Reported on several phone blogs are reports of the Nexus 4 selling out within minutes. Why? Didn't Google envision the demand. So, now people will go to an outlet and pay 200 USD more?
Next:
T-Mobile USA told me (via the telephone) they will offer the phone with contract but not without and/or unlocked. Also, the rep. informed me the T-Mobile USA version has a modified OS and some unsupported functions. He did not elaborate and suggested to get one directly from Google.

Unbelievable! With such a specs, the phone is that cheap? Will get this phone after 10 months when the price decreases more cause I bought an Xperia P a month back! After 10 months it will cost around $250 for 16 GB! Quad core, 2GB RAM that's what I want for such a price! :-D

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2012I think it will but in stores where it will be twice the pr... moreLG aren't bringing any stock of the nexus 4 to South Africa. They say that it wouldn't "sell well" on the South African market.
The truth is the only reason they won't bring the phone here is that they are hoping that people are dumb enough to buy their other smart phones
