I too have the same comparison with this mobile with samsung galaxy R and S2, as this mob is very cheaper than both the mob's. Hence i just kept them both the mobiles side by side and found that the video clarity or camera clarity in R was much better than clarity in 2X and reg S2 i dont even need to say such a gr8 mob it is.
I think samsung should have used corning glass in Galaxy R too. It was really pretty good with good battery performance, only one part i am lagging is the corning glass.
Dont prefer LG as you dont have good sevice or else no resale value

My only two comments are- pathetic batt life (6hrs) from 100% to less than 20%, the phone can heat up quite fast. the dual core is a big lure aka bigger catch. but android in general has inferior batt life ba. just saying my thoughts.

Which phone is better: LG Optimus Black (LGP970) or Samsung S8530 WAVEII or LGP 990 optimus 2x. Should i go for Samsung or LG. My requirements are mainly browsing, pdf reading and occasional use of camera. please reply soon... Thanks in advance :)

i had purchased 2X 20 days back.
its good with 2.2 android (took some time to explore it)
but its best in 2.3 gingerbread update
in 2.2 lagging issues were little present but in 2.3 it has been covered.
list of enhancements did in 2.3 when compared to 2.2 are
sms selection cursor is added
suggested words were dissappearing while writing sms, it has been corrected.
when screen ends it has been indicated with flashy color which is good looking
battery life in 2G mode is improved but i havent checked it in 3G mode in new build 2.3(will be posting it once i do)
performance and response time has been improved
no lagging now and screen is good and bright.
few extra live wallpapers and few new tunes are added
rest all same as usual.
i suggest my fellow 2X users to see and update as it is told in procedure.
when updating please bind your hands and sit away from pc(make sure pc not going to sleep and no background program is running)
my intention of saying this is very simple in words but very critical to phone updation.
my friend was using his pc while update was running in background, suddenly his using application hanged and due to which pc got hanged, handset stopped updation and mobile just went blank in seconds.
thats it.....!
mobile is dead.he has taken to service centre.
y do we require such a huge risk giving so much huge money.
so please be careful....!
note: stop all the running process,terminate all applications, run only lg software, back previous data(if you require),follow procedure, wait till it says update completed successfully. till then do not even try to touch the mouse or keyboard.
few steps are very crucial so please read again and again,understand and then do it.
"YOUR MISTAKE WILL RUIN YOUR OWN PHONE" AND IT REALLY HURTS....:-)
MY UPDATE TO 2.3 GINGERBREAD IS BRILLIANT AND WORKING AWESOME.
LG 2X P990 DUAL CORE IS BRILLIANT PHONE.

I completely agree with you but all i m concerned is about response time, hanging problem (if there is any with Android2.3) and overall software performance. Also can you please suggest a forum etc where i can read about the custom ROMs recommended for this phone instead of android 2.3

i love the display, it has total superiority over amoled. BUt the rest of the 2X is a sad story, cant find anything else good about it. Fair enough that it can play full HD video but with that battery life its not much use is it, this fone is no good if not near a charger, and android 2.3 is just as bad on this one as on any other brand or model. Android 2.3 deserves the first price for most unstable and malfunctioning OS ever on a mobile device, or any device. This is the Windows Vista of the mobile world, epic fail.

had the phone for 2 weeks now and had it upgraded to gingerbread upon purchase. awesome in gaming the tegra 2 chipset is just fantastic, fast performance, the ability to connect via hdmi makes the viewing of media better, it also makes gaming a pleasant experience when viewing on a bigger screen. text and images appear crisp, nice viewing angles and color reproduction on the display. not too bright to strain the eyes. nice feel to the phone, doesnt feel plasticky, it feels solid on the hand. nice complete phone.
