3d is so useless until all lcd's will be cheap with standard 3d function, all dvd players and recorders will have 3d. 3d now is unconfortable because it must be watched only with glasses or in stereoscopic no-glasses-required lcd's like this mobile, only one person can watch because the optimal 3d effect is at viewing at direct 90 degreeswich is an utopic situation. imagine 3-5 persons wich want to view a movie or a sport event. they must wear all glasses wich is stupid and annoying and very expansive for the host or to watch all very vertical on the screen, wich is impossible if there are more than 2 persons

Mobilemaster, 24 Feb 2011I heard about Neonode. The recession killed the company in ... moreim not sure if it was the recession. neonode proposed 2 reasons. 1 was an update which crippled some of the newer devices and cost them a lot of money to get fixed. and the other reason they said was they were trying to expand too quickly (and spending a lot of money in the process), even tho they only produced a phone every 2-4yrs or so. they actually had developed a phone for the american market: neonode n2.5 which was a slight improvement over the n2 but they also had an n3 in the works according to rumors which featured a major redesign of hardware and software.

the company now just focuses of touchscreen technology. so they make the touchscreen component in devices like the sony ebook/ereader and some digital picture frames. u get the idea. i think they r considering entering the phone (and tablet) market again. they announced on feb 11: "...a design win with one of the global mobile phone manufacturers who is currently integrating Neonode’s zForce ® optical touch screen solution into Android based mobile phones..." but if u want to discuss it more pls go to neonode n2 comments section, this isnt the right place and im sry for posting this here.

Hi, many of you comment about the display technology. The Optimus 3D uses LCD parallax display.
I think that this display will be the same than Fuji uses in your camera Fuji W3 (with 3.5").
I have the Fuji W3 and the 3D experience is just amazing, so, the Optimus 3D will be my next smartphone, but there is a big problem in this kind of screen.
The images are terrible with sunlight. Ok, my actual smartphone is the Nokia N95 and I don't know better images quality with sunlight than the transflective screen.
Well, now I am waiting a review about the screen of the Optimus 3D in sunlight condition.
And one suggestion for the GSMArena. Please create in the description if the screen is transflective or not. If the condition to read something in the screen with sunlight is possible or not. My wife has the Samsung OMNIA HD with amoled screen and with sunlight the screen is terrible. Better than my camera but worse than my Nokia.

stalker, 23 Feb 2011wow! Changing your phone every 3 years or less? You are ver... moresurprisingly, i agree.

i like all the new technology these companies r coming up with, but i hv always liked a few phones not for their specs but for their innovation. the o3d is an innovative phone and its about time i replace my phone, which is y im looking at this phone rather than all the others, which hv the same design, similar specs (dual core cpu, lots of ram, hi res screen...). i hv had many phones but only bcos they came with the contract.

my favorite phone of all time is the neonode n2 (also have n1m). yes, i know pretty much nobody has ever heard of this company that went bankrupt and the specs r terrible. it has 64mb ram, 176x220 resolution for a 2" screen, no edge or 3g, no email, no wifi, v limited 3rd party apps (less than 20 or so), no rom (its stored on the sd card), u get the idea... but i didnt choose it for its specs. i chose it bcos it was very innovative and unique. here is a list of innovations by neonode:
                          - first touchscreen phone to recognize gestures on a touchscreen. so they had flick finger to scroll thru menu before any1 else.
                          - first to hv slide to unlock, which somehow became popular. i think another company also uses this. but i forget the name of the company. i think it begins with an "a"...
                          - first to automatically adjust screen brightness based on input from the surrounding rather than time. interestingly, it doesnt hv an ambient light sensor (didnt exist in phones at the time), but it can still do this thanks to the lasers it uses from its touchscreen.
                          - first to provide haptic feedback on a touchscreen.
                          - first to support sdhc card up to 32gb (as far as i am aware)
                          - first and still only phone company to hv used optical touchscreen (which i think is the best type of touchscreen)

Mobilemaster, 22 Feb 2011You talked about the lifetime of Samoled, or about the Nova... more"You talked about the lifetime of Samoled, or about the Nova display?"
--> s amoled, around 5 yrs with 8 hrs use each day, or 14 000 hrs. this is mostly due to the blue color luminance fading. lcds (which is what the lg black uses) can last from somewhere between 25 000 to 40 000 hrs.

                            "Are you sure about this?"
--> well its an average based on historical evidence. there r some oled displays which can achieve 62 000 hrs for the blue, but these hv not been mass produced yet.

"the Samoled Plus is weaker than the Nova display or not?"
--> well there is a comparison here (its a shame gsmarena doesnt hv 1):
                            http://www.oled-display.net/lg-optimus-black-nova-display-vs-galaxy-s-super-amoled
(keep in mind that the site is called oled display, so there is some bias)

                            the advantages of nova
                            - nova is brighter than s amoled +
                            - nova displays white better
                            - doesnt hv a slight blue tint (the website doesnt show this well bcos its hard to notice with purple lights in the background) as a result, i think nova has more accurate color reproduction (except black), but consumers dont always care about accurate color reproduction. they usually want more vibrant/vivid colors even if its not accurate.
                            - more dpi, so sharper text
                            - longer lifetime (but doesnt apply to u)

the advantages of s amoled +
                            - deeper blacks
                            - better viewing angles from side to side
                            - faster response time (but this really doesnt matter that much. both technologies hv a response time faster than the human reaction time.)

if i had to choose a between lg black and samsung sgs2 based on all things considered (specs including the screen, design...) i wud choose the sgs2. sgs2 has much better specs and both hv an identical design. both screens hv their advantages, but before both come out and i can compare them myself, i cant tell for sure which has the better screen.

neither will i buy galaxy s-2 as it does not have a 3d view...;)

                                  2) THE MOST IMPORTAND ONE- by the end of this year, tegra 3 phones will be in market...
let me make clear that optimus 2x uses tegra 2 and and i am here talking about tegra 3...
these tegra 3 phones will pack a quad core processors....

The screen is STUNNING IN 2D, GIVING DEVICES LIKE the Sony Ericsson Arc or THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S II A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY. That's a big factor and should go some way to allaying fears that this is 3D for 3D's sake. In fact you could go about using the Optimus 3D WITHOUT EVER USING THE 3D ASPECT AT ALL."
