AnonD-3937, 26 Mar 2013Pino I respect your opinions and your dedication to this ph... moresomething is horribly wrong with your phone then as i can leave my phone on for 10 hours with 0% drain wifi on permanently even with screen off.

i know people are having problems with there battery but this is not the phones fault it is something else killing the battery.
people should start of with disabling maps and all attacked google services then reboot and disable everything they dont need like NFC bluetooth gps data if your on wifi and wifi if your outside on your data.
second important thing to do is getting rid of the stock browser and use the preinstalled chrome instead its more energy efficient.
then the thing people should do is getting rid of apps that stay launched when you disable them they drain battery and are often only enabled to place notifications that you dont really need.
then get rid of apps that have adds as apps with adds waste over 30% power when they are enabled for the sole purpose of downloading new adds...

after that you should see a significant inscrease in battery duration.

if you still have issue check if your wifi and 3g and 2g signal are strong if they are weak contact your provider for your 2g/3g or buy a better youter or more acces points to spread your wifi signal indoors.
(cheap routers like sweex are a great extender for your wifi netword when you use them as a wifi acces point on a main router)
so 1 main router somewhere and with lan cabled place wifi routers elsewhere in the house to get a good wifi coverage indoors.
poor signal causes the phone to keep trying to connect and that drains a lot of battery.

another thing you can do is download quadgearbox for 4x hd from the play store and disable 2 cores.
you barely notice it but it adds 20% battery duration.

if after that you still have problems i think you need to do a factory reset as something is keeping the cpu active.

i cant even drain the battery to 85% in 15 min let alone 5.

if i try with a heavy game like shadowgun 15% battery takes me atleast 10 min gaming.
with normal use that same 15% lasts me over 30 minutes.

im currently on 61% charge left and im on 2 hours 3 minutes screen on time and ive bin browsing inyourfacebook and ebay a lot today.

so 5 hours usetime is easely doable without gaming.


and 1 thing i tend to di is leave the phone on the charger an extra 45 minutes after it says its done charging and you really notice it as if i dont do it it starts doing down to 99% really fast if i leave it on a bit longer it gives me a extra 30 min use time easely.

if this kills the battery on the long term i dont know but i dont really care they rare 11 euro for 2 of them on ebay so if i kill it i buy 2 more hehe.

or you can get something like this instead :

1 more power safe feature is not turning the brighness up so high.

indoors i have it on 0% which is still bright enough i rarely have to turn it up but it saves a LOT of juice as low vs full brightness according to gsam is a 500% difference.
so full brightness uses 5x more power.

anyway theres lots to do to improve battery life yourself and it really makes a difference all together.
have a go at it and see what you can save.
it will become a sport to save battery life without the loss of functions :)

pino, 26 Mar 2013no its not your just not managing it right.Pino I respect your opinions and your dedication to this phone, but battery really can be better. Today after I removed the phone from the charger, it was down to 85% after 5 minutes(not gaming or browsing). I am happy it doesn't drain through the night.

it lets you do a lot of different things.

you can choose which apps should be allowed to use the settings.
i have it on gtalk whatsapp and SMS only but the payed version supports all apps.

it leys you notify you in the following ways.

- you can use the main screen as a notification led but making the screen flash up for x miliseconds every x seconds/minutes (time intervall is completely configurable i have it on 5 min).

- play a notification sound of your choice every x seconds/minutes (once more the intervall is completely configurable).

- use the vibrate function with the same configurable intervall.


you can also setup a silent period in which none of these functions work.

personaly i have it on the sound only as it uses the least resources and if you dont look at the screen or dont hold the screen the screen flashing or vibrate is useless.

so for my i get a message it plays the sound chosen in the app where you get the message and after 5 min it plays another chosen alarm sound and willl keep doing so untill i read the message.

it works wonders realy and i think its better then a notification light as it also works when you dont look at the phone.

the battery life on this phone is a real problem. i buy a 4200 mah,to satisfy a hungry quadcore processor...the quality of bezel and all the rest is verry poor.

there is no heating problem there is no battery problem there is no camera problem there is no other problem just people that are unable to manage there phones and expect mirracles. you cant blame a phone for people expecting something that just isnt possible.
and the list goes on yet your unable to mention any real flaws...
it smells like troll inhere!

with the S3 you would have had the same battery life and it would also heat up with gaming and you would have a update that would make your phone even more sluggish then it already was but aperently as long as its not a LG it doesnt matter.
you payed more after all so it must be better !

go sell your lg and buy a S3


i had zero issues with battery life and i get better battery life then 90% of the users on the web i am not bothered by a warm feeling as i know whats normal and whats not.
so if i dont have any issues with the phone why do other people complain?

its highly unlikely that LG has such a high fail rate on there divices so it must be the users :)

everything to get the max out of the phone has bin discussed so i wont repeat it but surely the problem is you not the phone.

have fun with your S3 problems hope your sample doesnt have a dead motherboard or breaks in the middle like many others did :).

I m using this phone since 2 months. Is is this phone a flop show...as many people complaining about battery life, heating issues and the list goes on,when LG is going to release the update..and is there any benefit of that update....I heard it's released in EUROPE.I think I should have gone for S3..

if you want to do something simmilar on the VU you need root and tune down the cores manualy.

I'm going to buy LG Vu P895 this week for my brother, and I know similar battery draining issue in LG Vu P895. So would you please recommend any such similar app can work for P895 as well?

Regarding camera, I agree.. There are few settings provided in LG camera app to adjust the brightness/light.. however 3rd party video calling apps like VTOK, SKYPE doesn't provide such features to adjust video settings..

Kart, 25 Mar 2013Hi Pino, Though they stated the front camera is 1.3MP, and... morethe camera is indeed a little dark in the default camera app but im not sure if this is just a wrong setting in the rom or somethig else that is causing it to be dark but the camera module itself is fine for sure.
i think some of these apps like skype and oovoo need a camera settings menu where you can make ti brighter or darker and so on.
you can do this in the camera app so why not in chat apps.
another thing is that these front cameras are extremely sensative to light so a lightsource behind you will make your face dark as it takes a screen wide average of the lighting so if something behind you is ighter then your face is your face will turn black.
if your face is lighter then the place behind you the place behind you will turn black.
so the way you position your face compared to light sources is verry important.
just make sure the light is in front of yo and never behind you.
if i position the light correctly the immage is fine if i have the window on my right side the left half of my face turns black because its not exposed to the light.
if it interests you try to read on on camera exposures it would explain a lot on why this happens hehe.
cameras and the capturnig of light is quite complicated.

and 1 other thing that could be happening could actualy be the hardware but i cant say for sure as i dont know the exact specs or methods used in the front camera.

it could be that the system that monitors the light uses a frame average measurement of the light rather then center weighter measurement.
a frame average measures the light in the intire frame and chooses a average.
so if something brighter then your face is in the room your face will turn dark.
with center weighted measurements the camers prioritises the center of the frame where yourface should be so your face is always the correct exposure.
sadly only lg can answer that question hehe.
maby they change something in the 4.1 camera module which should be ariving any day now.


after force cclosing and disabling apps you should reboot to make sure no side processes are started up still.
as for your battery charts 3 to 3.5 hours doesnt look to bad if you include games.
gaming sucks your battery dry like a french hooker.
for browsing video chatting and so on you should easely get 4 hours but as soon as you include gaming bam your battery time goes to shits.
if you wantto get just that little bit more out of your battery install QuadGearBox for Optimus 4x HD from the play store and activate it.

it kicked my battery life up from 4 hours 14 to about 5 hours.

if you need more power on the road while traveling your gonna have to buy a battery pack like this :

would be fun to work for a company that makes tech stuff tho as i would get to play with all of the goodies first :)

wel between that 4 phones for me personalty the choice is verry easy.

the nexus 4 i dont even donsider as i buy my phones to last and a non replacable battery is a nonno in that case and the lack of sd cars is also a bad thing for me.
and the nexus has only 8gb rom because google wants us to use cloud services but they havent yet realized in most countrys we have a verry tiny verry expencive litte data bundel that is also verry slow so using a cloud service wouldnot only be a waste to our data bundel but it also wastes time to up and download the pictures/movies and on top of that it drains more battery then having it on your rom storage as using data connections sucks power like a maniak.
the one x is the same thing as the nexus 4 it lacks a sd slot and had a fixed battery.
but on top of that id never buy a HTC phone untill they get rid of the heavy sense skin it sows the phone down.
and the one x has a worse battery to begin with.

the S3 i could consider if i ignore the brand as i personaly have verry bad experience with samsung devces (not limited to phones but al HDD's tv's vcr's dvd players and so on) but the 1 big flaw in my opinion is the bad screen.
the pentile amoled screen is just bad.
its less sharp it has inaccurate colours compared to a good ips panel.
and the power savnigs are a myth as it uses less when your on dark pages but it uses a lot more on lighter pages (browsing chatting and so on).

so not even considering the software jusst the hardware i kept coming back to the 4x.
replacable battery sd slot to 64 gb never had a problem with a LG device.
on top of that the rom is really light and lightning fast/smooth.

ofcourse if any of the things that i dont like doesnt bother you then the others are fair game.

Though they stated the front camera is 1.3MP, and its lags behind with poor quality. When I checked with other phones like iPhone 4, S2, S3.. they are still good and reasonable in quality....
But for this phone, its almost dark and almost nothing visible to the other calling party.

And also about battery saving, I did force close the Maps, Google services that are running background.. However there is no use.. still the battery drains completely in 3 to 3.5 hrs (for browsing, video, or for games)

Could you explain any better ways to handle front camera & battery draining issue?

this phone is still more then a 3rd of my monthly income so its quite expencive even for me which.
hence me doing a LOT of research before the purchace.

i dont limit this to phones but i do it with every purchase no surprises accected hehe.
nothing beats knowing exactly what you get.

my last phone i bought in 2009 hehe and the one before that was in 2004 i buy them to make em last :)

I love the way you love & trust ur phone which is giving me the push to buy it ASAP.. For the price, I am sure it is the best price in the whole market all over the world..
