It's a pity LG has not built in such a wonderful audiochip as Samsung into their phones - Wolfson. The sound would be great! And still the battery 3000+ mAh - this phone would be near to ideal :)

    AnonD-90736, 22 Dec 2012Oh another point, my Nokia N900 still has better audio qual... moreno your just expecting things that arent possible.

    the phone is thinner so it cant have a as big speaker period.
    if you struggle with movie files then its either a problem with your phone or apps you have installed or your movie files as this phone plays full hd smoother then my full hd tv build in player.
    there is no issue with this phone people that have issues have screwed p there andrid by installing loads of crap or have a bad hardware sample but mainly its the first.

    remove all apps test again if thats no good reflash firmware and test again if thats no good return it.
    it might also be that because you bopught this phone with a contract you have a branded phone meaning you ahve shite firmware from your isp which is known to cause problems.

    isp's should be punished for messing with phone firmware to install there crap apps and be forbidden to do so in the future.

LG and Android need to get their heads together on this.

        pino, 21 Dec 2012thats bollox your old phone isnt as fast it just has no fea... morePlease calm down, I am only making an observation as I have both phones, my Nokia N900 is still standing the test of time after 3 years, even though the maemo operating system is now defunct and no support for it anymore, the phone has been able to do everything I wanted from it. Up till now it's played every file I have thrown at it, while the very mature Android operating system with so many video players to download or install, struggled playing most of those same files, except when it came to the mxplayer although even that stutters at times.

        With regards to having a higher resolution screen, let's not forget the LG 4x hd has 8 times more power behind it compared to the Nokia N900 and also the files I have been playing have been nowhere near 720p, they are only 480p and some less yet it struggles. I am not going to get into an arguement I am just making a valid statement having both phones at my disposal.

        I have the phone on a 12 month contract so if it improves I shall transfer it onto a sim only contract but if doesn't then I shall upgrade after 10 months and give this one to my mother, it's upto LG now to improve the overall experience.

          Just recieved the P880 replacing my 2yr old P970 Optimus Black. 1st impressions are it's been an excellent choice. Slightly large than the P970 but a little smaller than a Galaxy S3. Screen resolution and responce excellent. I've still to transfer all my apps but am pleased with my choice. Also about half the cost of a similar contract for an S3. UK contract with moderate allowances £15.50 per month on t mobile from buymobilephones.net Also about £40 back on my p970 from Mazuma so that 1st three months free.

                  it cant run apps as smooth it cant play 720p movies and so on.

                  and no the player should not play all filetypes as there are hundreds of codecs and each codec can be used in 3 or 4 ways. so thats literaly thausants of video types that should be supported which is impossible.
                  itsa the people that convert the videos that should move to a standard codec with default settings as thats the standard now. no brand van play all movie types or they would have a 50 man team just for the movie player.

                  allstandards play fine all these others might play or not play depending on how they messed them up.
                  if i econvert a file everything plays fine.

They just haven't taken their time with this, it should have been a world beater. Let's hope their full hd tegra 4 phones in 2013 run much better.

                        With regards to the video player, they should play every file type, not have to convert some files, it's just a hassle as you say. I am currently using Viz to download files from the web which are downloaded automatically in .mp4 format so they can be played without any conversion.

                              AnonD-90736, 20 Dec 2012This is my current review of the phone after 3 weeks of use... moredisplay angles they fixed in the optimus g and went for a gapless screen now which should also prevent dust better.
                              lets hope they keep it like that on all future phones.

                              as for the video player if you tried downoaded videos there might be a issue with the files itself.
                              lately ife bin having a boatload of issues with files from the web as they all use different codecs or different compressions and some use header compressions which isnt supported by a lot of players.

                              its a nightmare to play most files lately and i have to use tools to reconvert most files or remove header compression.

                                This is my current review of the phone after 3 weeks of use :-

                                SIZE : 4.7 inches for me is great but would like it even bigger;

                                DISPLAY: contrast is quite good, with natural, true to life colours, viewing angles are fairly narrow, certainly could be better, would like to see lg use the SUPER IPS PLUS display in their next phone;

                                BATTERY LIFE: not bad, currently charging twice a day but thats because I am using it virtually all day,even while at work;

                                AUDIO QUALITY: mostly fine but there are times during calls when it is not very clear. Sound during music playback is excellent, no problems, loud and clear.

                                VIDEO PLAYBACK: basic android player is awful, does not play anything at all, installed MXPLAYER, excellent, accepts all codecs that I have tried and provides the option of different screen sizes from 100% to full screen. Also boosts audio sound by 200% and does make a major difference;

                                CAMERA: the pictures are of accepteable quality but nowhere near my 3 year old Nokia N900 which was fantastic for both pictures and video recording because it had the carl zeiss optics. The video recording likewise, not great but at full hd quality was yet again accepteable. An advantage over my Nokia N900 is the amount of options available including different image size, the option to use the front facing camera as well as self timer for picture taking;

                                GAMING: this is where it excels, this is what I bought it for, the tegra 3 chip which is brilliant for gaming. I would recommend the phone solely based on this. Remember to install the Tegrazone app for extra games, on top of those from the Google Play Store and the LG Smartworld app;

                                CONNECTIVITY: Has it all, nothing left to the imagination, includes bluetooth 4.0 which is really nice:

                                I shall leave it here as it's got too long but I would give it 7/10 as it can do so much, but not many of them very well, but then again, it is the same for all these quad core phones.
                                Asim.

                                  I agree with most people that it doesn't easily fit into the pockets, which is why I am putting mine in my coat pockets when I go out somewhere, but the summer will be a problem when we won't be going out with our coats, what happens then ?. I suppose I shall be walking around with it in my hands, ready for someone to snatch it off me, well, hope not.

                                    Please ignore my previous post. I got the mhl-hdmi adapter cable through the amazon uk website but through a third party called mobile-laden, they are a german company but only took a few days for delivery. You can also go direct to their uk website and order it from there, which is www.mobile-laden.co.uk bt it will cost you £18.35 from there site. I bought mine for £17.40 including delivery. When you go to amazon's website just type in hdmi adapter cable white for lg 4x hd and you should see it listed with the price of £14.58 (exc. delivery), I am very happy with my cable, although beware that the picture you see does seem to be slighly bigger than your tv screen, not sure how to make it fit the screen exactly but I am sure there is a way, but to be honest it is not a big deal if there isn't, hope this helps.
