Anonymous, 14 Sep 2012You compare different generations of phones, when you had t... moreHaha, of course I'm comparing different generations, technology improves everyday so it'd be moronic of me to think that the touchscreen is the same as then. I used to own an LG Renoir which didn't even implement Android. So in other words, the software experience was so-so. Seeing how far LG has come, makes it very tempting for me to give it another shot.
Truthfully, the LG didn't produce very attractive phones in the past, but with their recent ones... they look more refined and sleek. They are willing to spend more time on tweaking it physical features to give it a more premium look and feel. I might sound greedy, but I wish they used their 1080p screens like they did for their 5 inch screen that was previously shown. But that probably needs more time for testing. But seeing how the earlier leaks of the phone looks a little different from what the poster looks like, it makes me a little hopeful. Maybe a 4.7 inch with 1080p. Surely I'd have someone say "Why would you need a screen resolution like that on a small screen like this?" Because it's so "resolutionary".
So many people were astounded by the new ipad's (sorry I'm comparing a tablet with a smartphone) screen, showered the display with compliments. And seeing how Apple used it as their slogan, it was the most attractive selling point to attract customers and to stand out from the rest of its competitors. I still have my ipad and ipad 2 because I don’t see the need to upgrade (I’m interested in Nexus 7 with its stock Jelly Bean though). Currently, the majority of the tablet market has a resolution of 1280x800 on a 10 or so inch screen with some manufacturer's bumping its new products to 1080p, (Asus, Acer, Huawei etc...) There wouldn’t be anything wrong if LG really did. LG is really trying to be innovative.
Oh well, let’s stop my randomness of spouting these thoughts. I'll have my fingers-crossed for even more boosts. Even if it doesn't, it's not going to change the fact there's a 50/50 of me getting a Note II or this one.
(It’s so much easier to talk about something I’m interested it. Ramble, ramble, ramble. )

I remember dealing with Goldstar prior to LG (luckygoldstar) in the 1990's and it was a company dedicated to building quality then. Until 2 days ago I was a massive apple fan iMacs, iPads, IPods and apple tv are already in our home, it all works together nicely. My wife has the iPhone 4 and loves it, so I was looking forward to placing my order for a Apple iPhone 5 today. Anyway after all the hype I was disappointed to see that there was no killer feature this time (if there was it was not suitable for me) maybe I missed something. The one thing I do like is the build quality and how the iPhone is machined during its manufacture.
This has left me to start looking at the competition. By coincidence I spoke to a Samsung employee about the iPhone (he is also a student at Manchester Business School and a really nice chap) anyway his advice was wait and see. What this has made me do is hold off and look at the competition. That's how I ended up here.
Both Samsung and LG are where Apple were years ago with there computers. People that used Apple knew they had a better product than those using Pc's but it took time to convert to Apple products. At one point they were geeky and not trusted even though they were virus free and almost faultless in construction.
Samsung and LG are doing the same as Apple. They are making high specification products that people now want to buy over the competition.
Apple products are good but Apple won't stay top for eternity.
I want a Lg Optimus G and I am a big Apple fan!
Maybe Samsung will trump it with a better phone within a year but I'm due for a change now and right now this is the Daddy of phones.

The GNote2 will probably be better than Optimus G when it comes to sales and popularity and also wow factor. Just my opinion and cheers.

Touchscreen phones were only starting to get noticed, and of course they weren't that good. But don't forget that LG was the company who made the first touchscreen phone. And then you got an iphone who is much better because it has a different software. Apple appeared on the phone market only after the touchscreen was launched.

People will start paying attention once it's released and reviewed. Just like 1st Galaxy S, silent hit then becoming popular.
Hopefully it will be available in Europe before October.

I used to own an LG phone a few years ago. The screen wasn't very responsive... The UI was quite restrictive, it was a phone. It worked the way it should and that was all. I moved to the iphone afterwards. It was very easy to use (user experience improved after jailbreak)... with a large range of apps and fashion accessories (like some barbie doll) that I just don't bother with. But the fact is, I'm losing interest. I'm not fond of itunes (sync, sync, sync), Apple's series of global lawsuits (Suing a Poland Supermarket over a so-called similar logo isn't a first time, they sued an Australia supermarket called Woolworths back in 2009) and premium pricing (for what its hardware or software is worth...). Okay... getting back to the subject of interest.
Well, judging from the specs... this LG phone is certainly powerful. Ram, Quad Krait, GPU, camera, resolution. The design is sleek, I'd certainly get a black one myself. The only thing that would stop me from throwing my money at it is... updates. LG has a track record of either abandoning their phones or being very slow with updates. They have good innovation for their hardware, just that it's lacking in their software department... I'm tied between Samsung Galaxy Note II and this beauty. Size isn't a concern for me, I prefer a bigger screen with good clarity so I don't have to squint my four-eyes. Hopefully this one will upgrade to Jelly Bean as it plans to, or else it'd be CM10. No, a longer and thinner phone just doesn't meet my needs. Sure I'm not hoping to carry a brick but being 33 grams heavier isn't going to tip my scales. I'm sure everyone knows what phone I'm relating to. So, I shall wait for both the release of the Note II and Optimus G.
That was a very long post. I'd be surprised if anyone read this.
Note: I have never used an Android phone before but I'm keen on giving it a shot after reading reviews and watching user experiences on Youtube.
