we all knew about the dust problem of op1 and we have chosen op1 considering its specifications and performance. Also I am much satisfied with that.I am sure that the company who made such a gr8 phone could easily rectify it also and Lg will do that,So don't blame lg.If u don't want it noone is compelling u to do the same..but don't worry others..

AnonD-11726, 04 Jul 2011I have no idea why you thought that I think all current and... moreyes my friend you have made your point, and i dont feel theres a need to repeat it again and again , as Sadly everyone here already knows it. the threads about dust issues are everywhere. but ALL O1 have dust is a wrong statement. I will agree if you replace ALL with SOME.
you have mentioned some foresights but i will not go that far about LG's future plans.

What i know right now is I have an AWESOME phone (without dust of course). And a Warranty :P

I have no idea why you thought that I think all current and future users of O1 are fools. I haven't implied that anywhere. Even if I had, I would be included in that list. The only purpose of my posts was to caution new users against buying a problem handset.

I don't think you are right when you are saying that only few hundred out of millions of O1s are defective. Have you made a survey of all O1 handsets sold? At least I haven't, but from the sources I have mentioned is seems that most if not all handsets have the issue. But of course I cannot be sure. Nor can you be, because you have used yours for barely 1.5 months or so. Only time will tell. Question is are new users ready to experiment with their hard earned cash?

As for waiting in the hope that LG will fix it, it will be futile. What is the lifespan (wrt it being available for sale) of a fone thesedays? Sometimes less than a year. Sometimes a year and a half or such. If they had the will to fix it, they would have done it months ago... at least since the begining of 2011 as they are privately saying... rather lying; and taking customers for a ride. In a few more months, this model will be close to a year old and will soon have to be replaced. All we can hope is that LG has learnt to make better phones and we have learnt to make better and more informed choices regarding our cash.

Prospective buyers may like to check out the dedicated thread about he dust issue on XDA (and other forums) to make up their own mind.

AnonD-11726, 04 Jul 2011Dude, have others here appointed you as their representativ... more:) as expected you have answered that yourself. you think OP1 is the best but dust makes it the worst. :P agreed. perhaps that's the reason for all that market survey forums etc. you want LG to address the Issue as quick as possible so that you can get it back. Id suggest wait for some more time till they actually do it.

yes i am trying to defend OP1 because the tone of your comments was making me feel as if all current (and Future) users of OP1 are dumb fools for buying it. u got it wrong . what it means that if X millions are sold and few hundreds (or thousands) have issues that does not make the Millions satisfied users Dumb FOOLS. and besides if ppl have problem they raise issue . if they dont they normally keep quiet. (thanks for not loosing ur cool) regards.

Neither are you their representative and nor am I. So let us not exceed our scopes. I am simply stating my findings for the benefit of other buyers. I have stated things and sources as they are. It is for buyers to make informed decision.

And FYI, I did have a O1 which was possibly ruined by the LG service center when I went there with the dust and headphone issue (mentioned in previous posts). LG offered me replacement, but since the desired series was not available in the market, they actually gave me a refund! To that extent I am pretty pleased with LG. I cannot dream of Nokia doing something like that. In fact, in my experience they even refused a replacement. So believe it or not, I am no Nokia fan. As for Samsung, I do not have an opinion about the company but I do have an opinion of their similarly priced Androids - none of them match specs wise with the O1, so I am not inclined to buy them. I would love to buy the O1 again, if it weren't for the dust issue.

Pardon me for saying that it seems you are illogically trying to defend the O1, LG and its policies, just because chose one, while I am simply stating pros and cons as they are. If a buyer lands a phone with the dust issue, will it solve his issues if you tell him LG has sold X Million handsets worldwide? Let us smartphone users learn some smart thinking. :)

              Peace!

I just love my OP1 so keep coming here sometimes. I have used the phone for 55 days now 102Kxxx serial number feb 2011 make (korea). I dont have any dust probs (even in sunlight) and the users who complain often complain even within a week of buying. It is unbelievable to accept that all OP1's are flawed . if thats the case the OP1 would not be selling like hot cakes around the Globe. Dude if you are so much worried on getting a flawed phone , then why take chance? take another ph of ur choice, no ones stopping you. Plz dont act like a Maniac .Plz do not mind but your LONG SPEECH comments are making me feel that you are from Samsung or Nokia ;) :P

you have not even bought the phone and u are just commenting on HEARSAY.
If you are unable to decide on a phone atleast do not confuse others by your HEARSAY. Let others make their own choice. Even i knew before buying that some OP1's have the dust problem but remember you can always get ur set changed.

can any body guide me how to delete one particular message from a group of meesages sent by a person.
in this phone all the messages are grouping based on the person who sent the message and if i try to delete one messge entire messge is gettind deleted.

                          Thanks,

AnonD-8830, 04 Jul 2011Dear frn..wat all you said is true.dust problem is not fixe... moreThere can be no argument on the fact that no handset is perfect. It also depends on how you define perfection. But the point is, there are some imperfections/problems/defects that are dealbreakers. And the dust issue is very much one of them, because it can ruin the entire experience and even the phone. How can it ruin the phone? I'v already mentioned that in previous posts.

There is also no argument that it probably offers the best option in its price range. But that will be only until the 1st few weeks/months. Are you ready for time wasted at service centers, the heartache, an unsightly phone and possibly a damaged/scratched/dead phone?

Whats also worth considering is that LG is not taking responsibility for it and AT LEAST fixing the issue on new phones. Do you find that acceptable?

It obviously does not want to do that, and probably can't afford that, so they are just keeping quiet publicly. But individually, in reply to email and thru phone (area Managers, Service Centers, etc), they are saying that the issue has been fixed in newer handsets, which based my previous posts seems to be plain lies. They obviously want to keep selling defective handsets without fixing the problem.

Its quite possible that LG is having its own people posing as customers and posting that the dust issue has been resolved. Some emphasize its not a big deal! Gawd, of course its a HUGE deal, you shabby people!! In fact its a total deal breaker. But I'm sure there are genuine, enthusiastic new customers who come and post a month or 4 after buying, saying they do not have the dust problem. As I said earlier, it takes time for dust to accumulate (and is initially seen only in direct sunlight) and the time will be dependent on the level of dust in the phone's operating environment. Its just a matter of time before dust will start accumulating.
