LG was really innovative and future oriented company. I don't understand their marketing approach and their target markets neirher I understand why they started thinking that in cellular telephony everything is already invented.

Having owned 2 other newer phones after the V20, I still miss some of the features only the V20 has that my 2 other newer phones (and MAJORITY of modern flagships now don't have - Removable battery, 16:9 really sharp IPS display that plays nice with wireless mirroring to big screen TV, programmable/learning master remote (learning IR blaster), that really superb audio quality both with wired and bluetooth connections and a really good camera with unlimited manual controls, very stable OIS, and very superb image and video detail retention at 100% crop. The only real problem is the old software security patch. Installing a custom ROM might solve it, but you can never be certain a custom ROM is done with the same attention to security as the official software. You also can't discount the possibility that some custom ROM's themselves may have rogue tendencies.

Believe it or not, by far after near 4 years, this phone still the most complete features all time in GSMarena comparison page section. All categories are Yes-Yes rathen than Yes-No, No-Yes or No-No compare side by side to any brands with any flagship model to this date. thanks to iR-blaster, FM Radio, Audio jack, and Removeable batteries and I realy realy enjoying using every single one of that to this date. What a shame with all flagships today!!!

Rimac , 09 Jun 2020Dear Anonymous, I have a question, since I don't use NFC an... moreI really can't tell you how likely your V20 will get hacked. What I can tell you is that it is VERY VULNERABLE to hacking because it has a very old (1-2 years old) android security patch. If you happen to be connected online doing payment/financial transactions, there will be no hacking incident for as long as there are no hackers around monitoring your activities/transactions.
How often that happens (no hacker around or no hacker interested in you) and what's the probability of some hacker getting a breach or opening on your phone, really depends on specific circumstances. Having a phone with very old security patch makes you a preferred and easy target.

Manufacturers want phones to become obsolete faster nowadays. If there was only worldwide regulation against planned obsolescence this trend wouldn't have happened. How I wish this planned obsolescence trend ends, but I've made peace with the fact that it's wishful thinking that's why I've moved on.

Rimac , 06 Jun 2020Me too. The same time of use without any trouble. However d... moreThe only smartphone brands that have built in IR blaster now are Huawei and Xiaomi.
Huawei is out of the picture because it doesn't have Google services anymore so your only choice will be Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro has snapdragon 865 processor, an IR blaster, headphone jack but no micro sd expansion. It's much cheaper than LG's newest V60 flagship but still records 8K videos and best of all, it's a beautiful all screen display with no notch or punch hole for just $500 (128GB) or $600 (256GB). It doesn't have FM radio though like the international model LG V60.

Vugh, 05 Jun 2020I have been using this phone since May 2017 . I can say tha... moreI still have two of these phones (V20) that work perfectly except that the software and security patch are no longer up-to-date. They're the record holder for the longest living phones I've owned due to removable batteries and long-lived IPS display. They're no longer my main phone because the security patches are outdated. However, if you don't do any banking transactions on your phone, these will be reliable for years to come. I see them outliving my newer phones. I have learned to make peace with the fact and accept the reality I can't change that ALL phone manufacturers nowadays will force users to upgrade to new phones every year or two by intentionally removing features (replaceable batteries, longer lived IPS displays, micro sd expansion) and software support that would have made phones perfectly usable for 5-6 years like desktop PC's.

I have been using this phone since May 2017 . I can say that it is the most durable and reliable phone i have ever used. In the past 3 yrs , i can hardly recall the phone freezing or crashing . The screen is still intact ( not cracked or broken) despite several drops , even though i use a book case cover and no screen cover. The only thing that sucks is the camera in auto mode.I have had to replace the battery last year with one i bought on Amazon for under $30. I can see this phone lasting many more years, as long as i can just pop in replacement batteries. Infact i have decided to go in for the latest lg v series when and if it finally dies, hoping i will get same value.
