Rimac , 28 Feb 2020The V20 can have an acceptable continuity with the new V60,... moreI won't be wasting my money on another LG phone, LG V60 included. Zero software updates for international variants even in a flagship model like in the case of my H990DS LG V20 (ESA-xx variant), is enough experience for me to demonstrate LG Mobile's horrendous aftersales support.
As I've mentioned before, the V20 is my first and last LG phone. Will hold on to it for as long as it is alive but it won't be my main phone anymore due to lack of security updates/android software updates which are critical for banking and credit card transactions (credit card fraud /online hacking of personal info).
Those looking for a reasonably priced successor to the dual sim H990DS V20 with triple slot (two sim slots + dedicated micro sd slot) are better served by Asus Zenfone 6 (most expensive option), or the Samsung M30s (least expensive option).
Personally though, my recommendation would be the upper midrange Samsung Galaxy A71 (mid priced). In fact, I already purchased one and love it. It's got Android 10 with January 2020 security patch out of the box. The Samsung A71 has a great PRICE:PERFORMANCE ratio and the closest in feature set to the V20. It's got all the V20 has and more except for the IR blaster. Just buy a type C IR blaster accessory to equip the A71 with remote control functionality. The Samsung A71 has 128GB ROM, 8GB RAM, dual sim slots with dedicated micro sd card slot, (3 slots in all), a reasonably fast and power efficient snapdragon 730G processor, a headphone jack, FM radio, 4500mAh sealed battery that charges superfast and lasts more than a day even with heavy use, a 6.7" amoled display and under display fingerprint reader as well as Widevine L1 support and LTE only option + LTE band selection capability. The camera is great too as is the audio and 4K video having a triple camera setup. You can install/sideload ported GCam with night sight too for better low light photos.

The V20 can have an acceptable continuity with the new V60, despite without removable battery and lack of FM radio and IR., imo.

A few V20 variants were updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in 2018 and that's it for the rest of the world.
V20 variants released in Korea where provided an additional Android 9.0 Pie update in 2019 but it's only for single SIM Korean models for the V20.

Raymond , 08 Feb 2020Anyone have any news on when the Android PIE update will be... moreJust enjoy and be happy with your Oreo. Other users (those with H990DS - ESA-xx and other variants) were actually stuck with Nougat, the original android version the V20 released with in 20 16. Sorry there will never be a Pie except for Korean variants.

Rimac , 08 Feb 2020And how I can use SONY LDAC codec to hear music since I use... moreIf you have hi-res quality sound recordings (e.g. 24bit/96KHz), you will be able to send it via Bluetooth to Sony headphones or Sony soundbar or any other LDAC enabled device without loosing the quality. If you listen to the streaming service, what you get is what you may transfer further via Bluetooth. Starting from Android 8.0 "Oreo", LDAC is part of the Android Open Source Project, enabling every OEM to integrate this standard into their own Android devices freely.

Oreo allows compatibility with ported GCam app with night sight. (Not possible with Nougat). Oreo also has adjustable dp (Go to developer options, smallest width) so you can reduce the space used by the navigation bar and status bar, allowing more icons and lines of text to fit on the screen. Oreo is also smoother/more fluid and with better battery management and better performance overall. And it has updated security patch. As for Pie, a gesture based navigation is added, digital wellness to control phone/app use, battery management refinements, improved night mode/dark theme, and even more updated security patch. Many H990DS (dual SIM variants) of the V20 were NEVER updated by LG like - ESA-XX. They're still on Nougat, the software they were released with in 2016.
Don't ever trust LG's fake update promises since its not guaranteed for all regional variants even for the same phone model. Bear that in mind if you buy an LG phone. It's one of the reasons LG phones are losing market share. And very low market share means worsening software update support.
