True because many H990DS V20 variants never got updated to Oreo: They launched with Nougat and will most likely die with Nougat. False because other H990DS V20 variants got Oreo last year. Whether or not your V20 gets updated to Oreo depends on whic H990DS regional variant you have.

                    Someone knows why, using the V20 the day along intensely, every day, during two years and two months, doesn't appear any symptom of image retention ?

                        A positive point of the V20 is the 16 : 9 screen ratio, when at present with ratios of 19 /18 : 9, means seeing, with this 'cucumber' displays, non-existent 'Todd-Ao' images of video or photo.

                          if you do have it (like one of my V20's), it will be gone forever and will never come back for as long as Blue light filter app is installed and running.

                          The Blue light filter app really is invisible. It is a very lightweight app and not something that you'll ever notice even if it is running all the time in the background. It uses practically insignificant resources - practically no battery drain, data drain or RAM drain.

                          If you have simple needs and not after a lot of useful features, the HTC may do well for you but really, there are lots better and cheaper options than those HTC phones you mentioned like the Pocophone F1 for example, if you don't want the V20 because of fear of getting a unit with image retention.

                                    Rooting may not be for everyone so for those who want an easy solution to screen retention issues on some V20 models (like my B&O V20 which has very pronounced image retention), the Bluelight filter app will do wonders. Just search it in the searchbox in this forum for the recommended sertings.

                                        Rimac , 04 Jun 2019To those interested in an alternative to the V20, the taiwa... moreYes, for those who want an alternative to the V20, and want almost all features that made the V20 popular, I'd recommend the Asus Zenfone 6:
                                        https://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_6_zs630kl-9698.php
                                        -It's got dual sim and DEDICATED micro sd card slot like the V20.
                                        -It's got a huge 5,000mAh battery which is a good substitute to not having a removable battery because let's face it: there are no more new flagship phones with removable batteries anymore and the next best thing to a removable battery is a huge sealed battery - at least 5,000mAh. Anything less than that in a sealed battery phone is mediocre considering 4,000mAh+ has become the new standard nowadays it's becoming so common.
                                        -The Zenfone has got an excellent flippable dual camera so the selfies look as good as those taken by the rear cameras because well, the same cameras are being used: you just flip the camera from back to front and vice-versa! A 48 megapixel f/1.8 main shooter should satisfy those with pixel envy and those obsessed with selfies. Imagine, 48 megapixel selfies! What's more, there's 4K 60fps video recording option (the V20 is only up to 4K 30fps);
                                        - The Zenfone 6 has got FM radio and headphone jack, hurray radio and music lovers!
                                        - It's got an excellent 24 bit, 192 khz audio, so audiophiles rejoice!
                                        - It's got long lasting IPS display so you never worry about short lived display life that gets permanent screen burns like what happens with P-oled/Amoled displays;
                                        - It's got Snapdragon 855 with 6GB to 8GB of RAM so it's a powerful beast! fast, smooth, fluid that's not going to slow down anytime soon.
                                        - 64GB to 256GB internal storage options too! But really, why bother with those more expensive, higher internal storage options when it's got a dedicated micro sd card slot? Just buy super cheap sub-$65, 400GB Sandisk micro sd card, or the 1 TB card and you'll never worry about having only 64GB internal storage space! What's more, you get to save by buying the cheapest storage option with practically zero compromises (not much difference between 6GB and 8 GB RAM options).

                                        I guess the only things lacking are the drop resistance, slimport support, second screen and remote control function. Drop resistance can be compensated by buying heavy duty protective casing. Remote control, well you can buy an IR blaster USB-C accessory and use ZaZa remote app from the Playstore. It won't be as good as the V20's built in and learning capable remote, but hey, at least it can now control many popular appliances using the Baseus remote accessory:
                                        https://www.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_009386814589.html
                                        The second screen will be surely missed though I believe not a huge deal breaker. The slimport support, well let's hope the Zenfone 6 has MHL support so that makes HDMI wired connection a non-issue. (MHL and slimport do the same thing: wired USB C to HDMI out for connecting to TV for maximum audio/video quality with zero compression).
                                        - Hidden SSID for sharing your phone's mobile data with your other devices without other people knowing the hotspot exists, would be welcome, but I'm sure, not a deal breaker.
                                        - LTE only option: Based on my experience with Asus, they tend to allow it by not locking out access to Android's hidden data connection options (unlike Samsungs and Huaweis), so likely, it will also have this LTE only option available. So there, very minimal compromises compared to other flagship phones.

                                        Get an Asus Zenfone 6 64GB if you want a new flagship phone and don't want to spend wastefully on a brand new, extensive feature set phone. I'd even recommend it above the much more expensive Huawei Mate 20 or P30 Pro, or even Samsung's Note 9 or S10 5G phones or even LG's V50 Thinq 5G phone. The only time I'd recommend those more expensive phones is if don't care about many of the features of the Zenfone 6 and just want to waste money.

                                        Xiaomi's Pocophone F1 or other cheaper Xiaomi flagship phones are recommended over the Zenfone 6 only if you have limited budget. But if you have the V20 and it's still alive and not giving you any problems, then would recommend holding on to it. The Zenfone 6 is for those who can't get the V20 anymore (no longer available) or those who want a newer, more powerful phone that doesn't have too many compromises in features like other flagships which only have hybrid slots, no headphone jack, no FM radio, just barely above average batteries (4000mAh+), etc.
