Paradoxically your always detailed explanations driving me sometimes to dizzying at first sight for the concepts of 'ported GCam', 'Portrait' and 'Night sight'. But always was easiest than I can would imagine.

Does anyone experience warm and extreme lag (unusable) when downloading files like movies via browser or games from Google Play? Even opening and switching apps sometimes slow down. Still running stock 7.0 firmware tho since Oreo update kill the high bitrate video recording.

Rimac , 06 Aug 2019I'm surprised when you say that isn't possible other editin... moreWhat I meant is that yes, you can use ANY photoediting app to edit ANY photo including sharpening and blurring and color adjustments of captured photos.

However, those other photoediting apps like Aviary, cannot do automatic adjustable level of background blur while maintaining a sharp face focus for photos taken by GCam in portrait mode.

If you capture a photo using 'portrait' mode in the Gcam ported app
below, you will actually get two photos per shot. The first photo is the original photo (face and background are sharp), while the second photo, is the internally processed photo with sharp face but blurred background. Every time you shoot in 'Portrait' mode using GCam app with Night sight mentioned below, you will always get two photos. One with sharp background and another with blurred background.

Now what I'm saying is that in the two photos captured by GCam above, the background blur can still be adjusted if you want sharper face and more background blur. You can edit background blur using Google photos. In Google photos, there is a 'depth' slider/setting. You can move the 'depth' slider to the left to make the background less blurred. It only affects the background. The face remains sharp and in focus. You can also move the 'depth' slider to the right for more background blur. You can only do this kind of automatic background blur adjustment in Google Photos app.

As mentioned, other photoediting apps like Aviary cannot do this same level of adjustment to background blur like Google photos. Again, this background blur adjustment only works with the dual photos captured by the ported GCam app mentioned below. Background blur or 'depth' adjustment is only possible when using 'Portrait' mode in the ported GCam app with night sight below.

You can capture your subject with a blurred background. After capture using 'portrait' mode, you can edit the photo captured in 'Google photos' (not possible with other photo editing apps) to increase the amount of background blur.

It makes several photos and takes the best out of them to make a colorful photo masterpiece. Better than postcards and other filtered photos. It works best with static objects, without artificial lights. But you may also try to combine static objects and moving lights (e.g. cars with headlights) to get beautiful effects. Thank you Anonymous for drawing our attention to this piece of software.

Let me say that my first need buying a phone was top quality audio recording and music playing. Bought one unit, discovered the photo and video quality and the remaining . . . , and the second unit bought (to special video edition purposes). I apologise for the inconvenience of my little english, as belonging to a guy from the bottom country on this skill.

I usually changed phones in 6 months to a year as I always found something better within a year or less. The V20 is the only smartphone that has stayed with me this long and despite newer, more powerful, and more gorgeous looking all screen phones around.

I just can't let go of my V20 because I really find it difficult to forgo the features that I am regularly using and currently enjoying and that have spoiled me through the years: removable battery that makes me do away with carrying a charging cable or being tethered to a wall or charger which severely limits my mobility, dual sim with dedicated micro sd card slot that satisfies my need to have two of the best network plans, while still having unlimited offline movie downloads, personal media files and high quality music in the micro sd card, slimport/HDMI out support for when I need to watch on a big screen TV anywhere I go without loss of quality, headphone jack and FM radio when I prefer listening to local FM broadcasts without worrying about earbud battery life or bluetooth exposure from wireless earbuds, master remote control availability with learn functionality that I use every single day for various appliances everywhere I go, LTE only option with ability to manually select and stay on a less congested LTE band of my choice for the best download and streaming speeds, ability to hide hotspot SSID when I share my mobile data connection to other devices without anybody knowing, excellent camera, excellent audio quality, drop resistance,
accurate color, high quality sharp QHD display, that lasts longer and retains excellent display quality despite years of use (unlike POLEDs or AMOLEDs), drop resistance, etc.

Elsewhere in the world, it would be difficult to find a brand new V20 anymore. The Zenfone 6 is for those who can't get the V20 anymore (no longer available) or those who want a newer, more powerful phone that doesn't have too many feature compromises.

And for anyone still questioning the battery life, besides the quick charge feature, a replaceable battery seals the deal. A spare battery is cheap, easy to carry around, and you go from dying phone to 100% charge in about 30 seconds, no charger needed. (I miss my Galaxy S5!)

You can't download or install it from the Google play store because the version in the Playstore is the original GCam app designed by Google for use in Pixel phones only.

For the V20 (only for those that were updated to Oreo) you need to download "NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a.apk" and install it in your V20 phones. You need to enable "allow installation from this source" for the GCam app to be installed.

Again, I'd like to emphasize the GCam for the V20 apk, "NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a.apk" only works with V20's that have been updated to Oreo. It doesn't work with V20's that are still on Nougat.

Here's the link to the "NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a.apk" file installer:

Born with Nougat 7.0 and will die with Nougat 7.0. Good thing I have the -AME-xx variant. It got updated to Oreo and I can now take excellent low light photos with Google's GCam with Night Sight, plus a beautiful Portrait mode (blurs the background, adjustable blur in Google photos), plus an HDR+ mode and panorama mode that are so much better than the V20's default camera app, thanks to developers who ported GCam with Night Sight to LG V20's on Oreo.

The GCam port with Night Sight only works with Oreo so my other unlocked H990DS
V20 phone (-ESA-xx variant) doesn't have the excellent GCam port with Night Sight and is stuck with horrible low light photos.
