Juste, 18 Feb 2019Is this https://gopowerbear.com/collections/v20/products/lg... moreYes. Lots of bad units (25% of reviews are 1 star). But if you get a good one that doesn't give you an 'invalid battery' error, you'll be rewarded. As an alternative, buy an extended battery case only (with no extended battery) like the Hyperion case, and place your spare OEM battery there so it will always be with you and you don't need to remember bringing it with the V20 always for marathon sessions.

Keeping in view its customer demand and likes, LG should consider to launch V20 (Pro) edition, with improved battery, front camera, AMOLED display and android Pie out of the box. Hope so this will erase all previous complains regarding V20 users.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2019This is awesome life advice: don't every have anything nic... moreYou obviously did not get my point. Beauty without substance is ugly. I have seen far too many beautiful curved edge screen phones that shatter at the slightest drop, and the repair costs are absolutely outrageous.

Beauty and substance are not mutually exclusive. You can have beauty and substance at the same time. But as I see it, many ultra fragile curved edge screened phones are more beauty than substance.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2019This is awesome life advice: don't every have anything nic... moreFor all of you who don't own V20, have no intention of buying one and possess all knowledge and evidences about V20 not being a good phone, this is not a forum for you.
V20 is a very special and unique piece of technology. LG, itself was throughout one period a most innovative and bravest mobile phone producer (with bad customer support and a very problematic quality control). This era started with G2 and ended with the crown jewel V20. If one doesn't own one he will not understand. Would I buy one in 2019? I don't know, probably depending on price. But I am very happy to already have it, because whatever I can imagine I might need from a mobile phone - it is already there.

Wait until you drop those ultra fragile curved screen phones and you realize just how truly ugly the phone looks with broken curved screen. These improvements are definitely not 'minor' no matter how much you try to ignore them.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2019Awesome so we're in agreement that the V20 is a small upgra... moreNo. It is not a minor improvement unless you call a faster, more power efficient 14nm processor, a bigger screen, a bigger internal storage, a bigger battery, dual cameras, drop resistance, USB C and complete absence of widespread bootloop issues like your G4 is considered 'minor'. Again, let me reiterate: It's the last of its breed and the best of the highly versatile and feature packed removable battery phones from LG.

If I were you, I'd have your bootlooping G4 fixed, buy a PowerBear 6500mAh removable extended battery, buy a 400GB micro sd card and buy micro USB slimport and enjoy your G4 long after your latest phone is dead.

Yeah? Great. :-P

btw I believe the slimport standard is dead and/or is dying that's why you don't see any newer devices supporting it.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2019You wrote "removable battery, FM radio, audio jack, dedicat... moreYou're correct. The V20 is a significant improvement to the G4, V10 and all other previous LG phones before it. As I said, the V20 is the last of its breed. It's my first LG phone and will likely be my last as I don't find the V30 and V40 models worthy successors to my V20.

Where to go from here after my V20's die? Likely the Huawei Mate 20 successor (regular model not the Pro) or the Pocophone F1 successor. I'm going to miss my 6500mAh PowerBear removable battery so badly, no doubt about it, but at least the huge 4000mAh battery of the Mate 20 or the Pocophone will make the transition less painful and limiting. Both have FM radio, both have storage expansion, both have dual SIM (although hybrid), both have LCD screen (my personal preference for long term retention of the maximum screen brightness, color balance and longevity), both have very good cameras with manual contols and both have headphone jacks. In addition, the Pocophone F1 has LTE only (not in the Mate 20) and the Mate 20 has an IR blaster (not in the Pocophone - Xiaomi, please bring it in Pocophone 2!). Both don't have slimport support but the Mate 20 does have MHL out (equivalent to slimport). As you can see, the Mate 20 is the closest match to the V20. I'm hoping it will have dedicated card slot soon and nano cards will become as cheap as micro sd and provide 400GB options (still way better investment than higher internal storage options).

lol my G4 has all of those features (+ dual sim, too) except second screen and drop resistance, and let's be honest, your phone can still break if you drop it. The second screen was a gimmick of all gimmicks, even LG didn't carry that feature it over to later v-series phones, or any of their phones for that matter.

Honestly, the V20 is sounding more and more like a small upgrade over the G4. I still have my G4 sitting in a box somewhere and it's got MOST of the V20's killer features so I don't need to buy a V20 now, thanks. :-P

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2019lol so now I don't deserve a flagship altogether because I ... moreLol, really very simple needs indeed that make me wonder why you buy a flagship phone anyway when there's an ocean of phones that provide above average screen, above average battery life and above average camera! And also makes me wonder why bother criticizing the V20 here when it's a phone that is beyond comparison to your phone in real all around usefulness, versatility and longevity? Why oh why? You still haven't answered this question. And to answer your question - YES! I'd still buy the V20 because the IR blaster is only part of the reasons I bought it! It has lots of many other features making it worth more to me and to the most exacting and demanding of users than your phone can even manage to offer, more so deliver!

So there, you've got your answer - the V20 is not just a remote control, it is also an FM radio, a media playback powerhouse, a superb audio, photo, and video powerhouse, a marathon battery performer, etc.

You'll have to remove more than the IR blaster for it to become an 'ordinary' phone like what you have. You'll have to take away the removable battery, FM radio, audio jack, dedicated micro sd card slot, slimport support, second screen, LTE only support, hidden SSID, drop resistance, etc. as well for me to dump it and consider it an 'ordinary' smartphone like yours. In short, the V20 is not your ordinary RUN-OF-THE-MILL smartphone. It is the phone of choice for the most exacting and demanding of users and you seem to like to discount those features as 'gimmicks' after all these years? Why? You still didn't answer this question. I assume it is really to justify your wrong decision buying your featureless, generic flagship phone over the V20 when you had that chance to have a gem of a phone... and now you're regretting it, trying to put down a 2 year old phone even if it does nothing to your phone's sales figures.

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2019Finally you admitted it. You just want an internet connecte... morelol so now I don't deserve a flagship altogether because I don't need dual sim, IR blaster, FM radio, don't need to use headphones or need a removable battery?

I only listen to the radio (or music for that matter) on my way to work. On my way to work, I use this thing called a "automobile" (or "car" for short) to get me to my place of work. It has a very nice Bose sound system in it and plays the radio or streams music from my phone over bluetooth just fine. Because of this, I have no need for headphones as well. I only use headphones when flying. But you're right, I might not be a "power user". I have my car, my desktop computer, my laptop, and my smart TV that I use to watch tv or listen to music or download/stream stuff on. But I do some video editing so one reason I always get flagships is cause it's only the flagships that offer 2160p video recording amongst other things (like flagships also have the best screens, very important to me).

Said it before, need to say it again, my priorities are 1) screen 2) camera and 3) battery LIFE (not size) are important. If a phone can't do these 3 things above average then I'm not interested in all the other fluffy gimmick features it has. These 3 things are the deal-breakers for me just like dual sim, FM radio, and IR blaster are deal breakers for you. The V20 has an outstanding camera but come on can't we agree the screen and oem battery life aren't above average? I'm not even going to talk about all the other stuff it doesn't have, just the screen and battery life are sub-par which is why I didn't buy one (ok ok, and I don't like the appearance either but really it was the screen and bad battery life as if it had a good screen and good battery life I could settle for the appearance because the price was dropping so fast on them).

Sounds like you guys have basically turned your V20's into glorified remote controls. lol. Can I ask if it didn't have a IR blaster would you have still bought one?
