Anonymous, 22 Mar 2018It doesn't make sense because: 1. The question has been an... morenah, it still makes sense. People still bring up Apple's iPhone6 "bend gate" and Samsung's battery fiasco with the Note 7. The only difference is while those problems only applied to one particular device (iPhone6 and Note 7), where as LG has gone above and beyond with bootloop affecting several of their devices (G4, G5, V10). It's only fair and smart that people in the market for a V20 or a G6 ask this question (since their predecessors had this problem) even if it's been asked a million times already like every other question on the internet.

    1. The question has been answered several times in this forum. Just do a search using 'bootloop' as keyword in the search box in this forum and you'll find out it has been answered several times.
    2. The V20 is more than a year old. It's turning 2 by the end of the year. Bootloops are usual concerns on brand new releases only since few have owned and tried the new phone releases. Also, an issue as serious as a bootloop gets corrected in subsequent production batches so even if it existed and was accepted by LG to be valid, it happens only on the early batches as it gets corrected in later, subsequent batches.
    3. This is the V20 forum. It's dominated by satisfied LG V20 owners. Dissatisfied LG G4, LG V10, etc. owners with bootloop experience don't stay here to share experiences. They just move on to other forums/brands.
    Ergo, repeating the bootloop issue over and over again here is clearly trolling. It's amazing an almost 2 year old flagship phone still gets trolled regularly. Trolling is supposed to be widespread only on new flagship phones. It only goes to show that the V20 can still compete and hold its ground even when compared to the newest 2018 flagship phones from other brands.

Try searching Google for -'iPhone X bootloop', 'Samsung Note 8 bootloop' and 'Samsung S8 bootloop'. You can also try other flagship phones from other brands and you'll see just about every flagship phone will have bootloop search results from Google and YouTube.

            Anonymous, 17 Mar 2018I don't think you've had your v20's long enough to experien... moreAs an audiophile I can look past quite a few problems that this phone has like mention in other opinions the screen burns in witch I have noticed and also the battery life on this unit is terrible. other then that I find that it has plenty of power to play games and watch videos/movies on it. The most important feature is the headphone quality and it is beyond expectations for a phone.

The 10,000mah extended batteries are too bulky for everyday use but the 6,400mAh extended batteries are just perfect. Or you csn just buy a 6400mAh extended battery case only (very cheap) and place a spare 3200mAh OEM V20 battery in the case. That way, you can retain the V20's original back cover and still attach the extended battery case where you can store the spare battery. That way, you'll always have the fully charged spare battery in your phone case and never forget it.

Having owned two V20's and coming from previous brands: Samsung, Asus, Lenovo, Huawei, Xiaomi (I am not loyal to any brand), I can truly say you are making temporary screen retention issues in the V20 worse than they really are by calling them permanent burn in. The truth is, amoleds actually have much worse than IPS displays' temporary screen retention: permanent burn in, which is a lot more serious, and color shifts due to blue amoleds having a lot shorter life than other amoled colors. Either you have a truly defective unit or you probably had your V20 brightness set at 100% with 5 min or longer screen time out, and leave your phone with many static screen elements for very long periods of time in which case, amoleds will be worse than ips under exactly the same conditions. In the same fashion you are truly exaggerating battery issues with the V20 when having removable battery gives you lots of choices:use extended batteries or replace worn out batteries with new ones. The network issue? Again it's either you have a truly defective unit or you bought the wrong V20 version. As I said, you are better of with an iphone if you don't know or care about technicalities on why screen retention and burn in happens in the first place and what customizations you can do as an Android user to maximize screen life, battery life and network connectivity.

                      I have v20 for 7 months, no retention issues, perfect signal reception, acceptable battery life. Just standard setup, automatic screen brightness, 1 minute time out, second display off overnight.

                          Anonymous, 17 Mar 2018It's unfortunate people complain of the V20's temporary scr... moreI don't think you've had your v20's long enough to experience the screen retention first hand, it's starts off slowly/hardly noticeable around the 4-6 month mark but after 1+ year it starts to get very noticeable and very annoying. It gets worse with time and heat produced by gaming and the camera make it substantially worse. IMO It's just as bad and just as unacceptable as other types of screen burn-in. Of course, since you're a huge LG v20 fan boy you think this is OK but to your average consumer with no brand bias this is totally not OK.

                          Also with the weak battery, you think being able to swap the battery out for a fresh one is a excuse and therefore acceptable for a phone to have weak battery life, again, to your average consumer this is unacceptable as average consumers want maximum battery life out of a single charge, period.

                            How to avoid screen retention in the V20:
                            Use the following custom settings:
                            Theme - high contrast (black theme)
                            Launcher - Nova launcher prime with gestures.
                            Phone Wallpaper: SB wallpaper changer - wallpaper changes every few hours
                            Shortcut icons - in nova launcher, set to small sizes and limit to one row. Put everything else in the app drawer. My phone almost has no shortcut icons except a few at the bottom. Everything else I launch from the app drawer or launch using tap, swipe and other gestures. Other apps are in the second screen at the top which are swipeable to an empty signature screen (if you don't want retention on second screen)
                            Screen brightness - I use an app called Lux Dash premium. It smoothly dims my phone when its dark and brightens it when its bright outside. It not only avoids excessive screen brightness that may cause screen retention, but it also significantly improves battery life - try it.
                            I also hide home touch buttons for ALL apps (settings - display - home touch buttons - hide home touch buttons)
                            I use 'back button' app for navigation and place it anywhere I like (movable location but I mostly position it vertically at the right side of the screen near my thumb for easier access).
                            Second screen: set to display date and time when main screen is off, and display signature, app shortcuts and empty screen (quick tools) from time to time. Try these settings on your V20. It will leave your V20 with only the network icons, time and battery logo static.

                              Also, weak battery is such a lame excuse for selling the V20 when you can just buy a new OEM/original V20 battery for $15- $20 or better yet, buy extended batteries for longer screen on time. Also network issues are almost always due to user not buying the correct V20 model that matches the network frequency available in the area the V20 is being used. It's lack of basic knowledge in the inner workings of Android phones really. Better for these kinds of usersnto just get an iphone. It's foolproof for users who don't know anything technical, don't want choices, don't want tinkering, and just want a phone that works out of the box.

                                It's unfortunate people complain of the V20's temporary screen retention issue and think it is a permanent burn in when it clearly is not. Also, lots of solutions have been mentioned here how to avoid screen retention which are very effective and very simple to implement. I for one don't have screen burn in issues. Retention is practically non-existent due to minimal static elements in my home screen and use of auto brightness app (LUX) as well as wallpaper changer app. I am sorry for users who sell their V20 due to simple, easy to correct screen retention issues in ips displays when a lot worse (permanent burn in, permanent color shifts, much shorter display life) can happen in amoleds.

                                  Sold my v20. Severe burn in. Weak battery. Poor reception. Lg has a history of screwing the pooch and they havent disappointed this time either.
