Nitz, 28 Oct 2020Keeping aside its unique design and the fact that I'm ... moreSwiveling phones with moving parts like LG Wing are always made with some compromises. A traditional bar shaped phone like LG G8X have some inherent advantages like no moving parts which helps it easily achieving IP68 rating, inclusion of big 4000 mAh battery & still space left to cram in a 3.5 mm audio jack with awesome QuadDAC.

For Wing, there is a huge mechanical hinge assembly inside the phone holding the display to the phone back side to provide the swiveling movement. This assembly eats up lot a space inside the phone. When ever we have moving parts, water may also sip in through the hinge. So we get lower IP54 rating.

Then there is a second display which eats more space. From what I read LG wanted to give Wing a reasonable sized battery to power two screens, so after fitting the same battery of G8X (4000 maH) there were no room left for the audio jack. Two displays will eat up a lot of battery so this size in minimum i believe. Mind you Wing 10 mm taller than G8X, with the same size battery but still the hinge mechanism ate of lot of valuable internal space. This is why LG Velvet with similar size of Wing has a bigger battery and audio jack because it is a traditional bar phone.

I just realized something when I read back the review: There is a proper FM Radio support. I mean, how is that even possible when there is no 3.5mm audio jack? I don't really think there is a USB Type-C (USB-C) earphone in the box like in the Samsung Galaxy A80, and I so doubt if that dongle can really be used as the antenna.

Simple: You can't use Quad DAC on wireless audio. And then, there's the question of audio quality and also sound lag especially if it's out of range, not forgetting the unnecessary battery life. If you really say audio jack is dead, why Sony is bringing it back for the Xperia 1 ii and Xperia 5 ii? They could have just carried forward on not putting it back again.

I used to be on the wireless audio bandwagon for a very long time and I decided NOT to embrace it anymore. Just give me a 3.5mm audio jack all day tqvm.

A proper telephoto camera and headphone jack would have made this phone great.

Just get an adapter or wireless headphones because as they became the new standard for normal use scenarios (you don’t really need wired headphones or earphones unless you play on pc really) they are cheaper
                      I can understand the 260g
I can understand gorilla glass 6 instead of 5
For water resistance, you shouldn’t expect much. There has to be some openings around there for the second display, maybe to help it function or keep it cooler idk. If you want to go outside it can probably handle a few rain drops but if you want to take it underwater this phone ain’t your friend
                      I understand speakers aswell

                            1) 260g is way too heavy, considering that we can't detach the extra screen.
                            2) Water resistance rating has been downgraded to IP54
                            3) With the premium pricing of INR 70k, they should have used Gorilla glass 6 instead of 5
                            4) 3.5 mm jack should have been retained.
                            5) Doesn't have stereo speakers and the single loudspeaker, which it has, has below average loudness.
                            6. SAR values (head as well as body) are higher than those of other LG models.
