There are two types of dual sim phones:
- Dual active (you are on a call and can get call notifications from your other sim, hold that call and answer it);
- Dual stand-by (when you're on a call, the other similar appears as disconnected when people are calling you on your other sim).
Unfortunately, this Lumia is dual stand-by, as are (almost) all smartphones, since the makers only install one 'radio antenna', so when one sim is being used, the antenna cannot be used by the other sim card.
I have only had 3 mobiles phones that were dual active, and they all were Samsung from a pre-smartphone era:
Samsung C5212
Samsung C6112
Samsung B5722
Hope my answer helped you understand why you are unreachable on your second sim while on a call on your first one...

In my city (I leaving in a Capital city) almost all retailers shope Stop selling Microsoft Lumia devices.But they still sells some worst smartphone like obi mobile,zen smartphone(not about the Asus Zenphone),Vivo ,Oppo.....Gionee smartphone all these are just a crape but they sell all these crapes.Now I would like to share one more thing what I have perceived ,Microsoft can't handle Smartphone market despite of it's superior spec. they don't know how to sell and how to be in the market.Earlier Nokia carry Windows phone (Lumia devices) brilliantly whatever the market share achieved by Windows phone only due to Nokia efforts but with the same product along with Microsoft branding they fails to create any miracle.Look at the spec. Of 650 having(SD215 cheapest) so called successor of 640 Series having (SD 400 cheapest) 1st time I saw Predecessor having superior cheapest in compare to it's Successors.SD 215 actually a dual core architecture processor SD 400 series is Quard core processor. We accept at least SD 410 or 415 instead of SD 215 cheapest in 15K.It all proves that Nokia was the actual mind behind all Lumia Series till Last year including Microsoft Lumia 535,640,640 XL,550,950 & 950 XL.Microsoft don't have any future strategy.They don't know 215 series chipset is the rubbish choice for 15K phone we consumer are not a full why we accept these bullshit.

My 640XL Dual SIM bought more than 6 months ago does not have Call Waiting function. Have turned on Call Waiting at the phone service provider, and also turned it on on the SIM card level. Whenever on a call with someone, when a second call comes in, screen does not have "hold first caller and answer second caller" button. It only has "end first call & accept second call" or "ignore" buttons. I tried installing Calls+ app from store but does not help.
Also updated to Windows 10 and thought the new software/firmware might solve this problem. This time when second call comes in while on first call, there is an "Answer" button but no matter how many times I touch it, it won't accept the second call.
Bought this phone on eBay and it is an overseas model due to dual SIM. I've brought the phone to Microsoft Store and the technicians are equally puzzled & perplexed. However, they can't assist further because in my country (Australia), only the original single SIM version is sold and supported. Contacted eBay seller and unable to help.
Can someone offer some help?

I haven't found any smartphone under 15K which beat Lumia 640 XL display,now I am dam sure about Lumia 640 XL 5.7" (720 HD) display is much brighter and more accurate in colour production,Viewing angles are great,White balance is just perfect,Sunlight readability excellent, Watching Full HD video with charm,on the other hand Lenovo K3 Note & A 7000 Plus so called 1080 Full HD display even J7 Super Amoled display ,Asus Zenphone 2 Selfie , Xiaomi Mi 4i ,Redmi Note 3 Full HD display is fail to produce good quality display all these smartphones are the best seller but its display is far behind in front of Lumia 640 XL. Friends its a truth,I came to this conclusion after various research.

I am not able to update my phone till now. I have performed each and every step multiple times which I found to be useless now.its very frustrating ....every after getting stuck at 4 % it displays message error 801882d1

I have just bought a new 640 XL and i am seeing two issues in it -
First - The voice over rear speaker of the phone crackles a bit in speakerphone mode during a call with volume set to more than 7. Here is a thread that talks about speaker crackling issue but mine does it more while using speakerphone. Need to know if this is an issue with all the phones.
Can somebody please do a quick test by using the speakerphone during a call and report results? Would be really helpful.
Second - Glance screen in peek mode is not working properly. Sometimes when i hover my hand over the light sensor, glance screen does not work. I have a high quality Nillkin tempered glass installed with precise cutout for the light sensor so, that shouldn't cause any issue. Moreover, on my old lumia 920, i had a cheap screen guard installed over the light sensor but there was no problem whatsoever with glance screen in peek mode.
Also, light sensor works perfectly each time when, i am on a call and put my phone on my ear which confirms that the hardware is not faulty.

All Lumia devices running over Windows 10 having similar problem Battery backup not exactly as that of it's earlier Windows 8 & 8.1 Most probably Microsoft will fix this issues with coming Redstone update.In 30th June 2016

I would suggest you not to buy anymore Microsoft phones in future. Most of the Apps are being designed only for Android and IOS(MAC) phones. Also to download any App you need to WIFI connection.
