Motorola A840 CDMA/GSM synergy

23 March, 2004
Motorola introduced the new model A840, one of the first mobile handsets to combine CDMA and GSM technology for reliable global roaming and a single-number experience for seamless mobility.

The Motorola A840 mobile device supports 800/1900 CDMA, CDMA 1X and 900/1800 GSM, providing you always the best signal available for both voice and data services almost worldwide. "You can travel from the US to Europe to China yet never lose touch with colleagues, friends, or family. Think of it as ‘extreme global communications", said Tim Cawley, senior vice president and general manager, Motorola CDMA Product Group.

The Motorola A840 in a stylish clamshell design is packaged with 1.2 megapixel integrated camera, large 2.2-inch brilliant color display, speaker-independent speech recognition, removable Trans-Flash memory, an integrated MP3 player and compelling gaming experience.

For globetrotting professionals, the model A840 delivers the ability to check and send e-mail, conduct meetings using the office-quality built-in speakerphone, surf the Internet and download and send information seamlessly almost anywhere in the world.

The Motorola A840 is expected to be available in North America in the second half of 2004.
