the backflip im pretty sure is not a top of the line model, which is suggested by its price...
The backflip is a unique design, and the x10's a simple design. Its a full touch handset, what more do u want. And since the x10 is a flagship, most likely there will be an upgrade to 2.01/2.1, officially or unofficially doesnt matter.
And the reason why the u.s. possibly uses motorola is because...motorola is an american company (shock)

Will the screen color's increase too 16M if you upgrade to Android 2.0? Or it's 256k color only?

Pricetag: USD$300 (absolutely less than USD400) for Backflip vs. over USD$600 for X10. (one can almost get 2 Backflip for the price of X10)
Upgrade to 2.0: Moto already promised Backflip will be able to upgrade to Android 2.0, if not 2.1. How about X10?
Design: Backflip offers a very unique design, which can be quite practical. X10?
Quality: Moto is known for making quality "communication products". Look at your gov. (emergency) services, do they use Moto or SE? Moto's Crystal Talk technology offers the BEST voice quality in the industry. On the other hand, SE has been known, especially for its bar phones, for offering the WORST voice quality by capturing so much background noise to the point one's conversation can hardly be heard.
SE spent so much time in R&D and still REFUSED to release X10 as its top of the line model charging nearly twice than Backflip. Meanwhile, Moto's Backflip is only a mid-range phone with the capability to upgrade to 2.0.
In case you don't know, Moto already offers Milestone as its top of the line model, which comes with 2.0 and be ready to be upgraded to 2.1 in Mar.
The choice is clear.

mmmmmmm... i don't get it... people bash Xperia X10 cause the outdated Android 1.6 and Xperia X10 is not new to the viewers it's since last year but not released yet... in the other hands we have Moto Backfilp as new announcement with Android 1.5 and people keep saying this phone is the BOMB!!!!!
People if you have loyalty for something to prove that you don't have to bash others especially if you lying or trying to revel the others weakness and cover yours

hmmm...this phone is really worth a try. now i'm using nokia n97 and i'm really proud with this buddy, but after read that the pioneer has return with the brand new model i want 2 buy and try it by myself. about the design, i don't care of who's copying whose coz i think there nothing really original with technology specially with cellphone tech. and as far as i know PDA phones is the first whose introduce touch screen tech in their smartphone. so please stop saying that motorola copied iphone or something like that. and let us as a user decided which vendor can provide and give us a product which is filled all of our need from every aspect at least almost all of it. so lets see if this model can give me what i'm looking from multi media and business phones.

So if Motorola copy iphone to kill iphone don't be hurt because all copy Motorola by make mobile phone think before you write whatever you will say, whatever you will write, Moto is the first to make a Mobile phone (pioneer).

Great design. Was expecting it for a while now (touchpad at the back of the screen is useless though, and adds unnecessary cost).
Engineers! Give us two optical touch pads on both sides of keyboard that can be used as touchpad buttons is well, and also If you're not lazy, you could make them with miltitouch function.
