Out of the box it's a very good phone, but if you get rid of motoblur and do a little bit of modding became an excellent phone!

Motorola defy is really most durable smartphone ever. imagine i work on hydraulic concrete breakers day by day keeping this cell in my pocket...nothing happens..all ok!!there is no hd video-i don't like it, my previous smart has 720p-hd video(way better)but it is nothing in comparison with durability of defy!!really tough smart!!
FOR EVERYONE!! FROYO IS NOT EVEN 10% BETTER THAN ECLAIR!!!ALMOST NOTHING CHANGED!! IF YOU ARE TOUGH GUY BUY THIS PHONE!!I LOVE IT!!

fox, 11 Jan 2011LOOK and feel like Plastic --damn ugly and looks cheap sha... moreThe Defy certainly feels of solid quality construction, actually it feels very good to handle and i say that anyone who handles this set in real life will not say it is cheap to the feel, in conclusion i will say this product is excellent value for money and it works a treat and i can say that my unit does not lag and it is very responsive.
Go and compare this set with one that is twice the price and you will see that in every way it is great value for money and you will not be dissapointed.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2011does it support video calling? Most Android phones do NOT support video call...a 6 years old technology which only Mr. Jobs thinks is important in 2010. (but he was the one who took it away in iphone 3G)

So no, Defy does NOT support video call.

fox, 11 Jan 2011LOOK and feel like Plastic --damn ugly and looks cheap sha... moreCheap phone eh? Sure for what it charges the customer (around US$420 unlock without contract).

Most of your comments are rather subjective, i.e. if you like heavy phones, how about dig out the good old DynaTAC? That would be heavy.

And whatever you say, no other touchscreen smartphone can sustain in water for 30 mins, away from dust and great impact.

That's the main selling point of this phone. So if you never DROP your phone, never splash water on it, this phone is simply NOT for you.

LOOK and feel like Plastic --damn ugly and looks cheap
shape --too similar with other phones
                                Screen --looks cheap
Weight --feels like a feather and i'm afraid that if the wind blows, the phone will fly from my hands
CPU -- 800Mhz feels kind of choppy when u browse thru the menu.

Conclusion: a cheap phone that wants to show something that he can not do. I personally think twice before buying this phone and if i had the opportunity i will test it first, i will not simply buy the phone because i am MOTO fan

Ladies like things that are small and light...

I bought my Defy 18 days ago and last night the screen cracked. Yes, that's right, the unbreakable phone has broken. The kicker is, It cracked while charging. I plugged it in, set in on my bookshelf where it charged for several hours. Upon retrieving the phone, there was a large crack across the bottom of the screen. I called my carrier who referred me to Motorola. There, I got the run around. I was told that the company would not cover a cracked screen, but that I could send the phone in for an evaluation to determine if it had physical damage. I asked what counted as physical damage and was told (among others) a cracked screen, which would not be covered. Why bother sending it for an evaluation?

When I explained that I had only owned the phone for 18 days, I was flat out told that it did not matter. Cracked screen = no repair. So, there you go. My carrier tells me that this is a Motorola problem and Motorola refuses to take responsibily for their faulty product.
