I got my defy before 5 weeks n frm very first days i was noticing that its earpiece is cracking, n this problem was increasing day by day, i had read in many forums that it has a similar earpiece to few sony ericsson phones. so i changes its eapiece n put my old sony ericsson phone and its working perfect eventhough it sounds better than b4. I like my defy n now one and only problem has been sorted out.

Mine is officially updated through Motorola Site to Froyo, brings some nice changes, better battery life and 2.3 is available as a custom ROM.
Vlingo is a Android app and will work on this phone.It has its own voice command thing but I havent used it.
Battery life on mine is 2 days if I use it a lot. 2.5 days if im not to busy with it.
Supports live wall papers, and they dont seem to consume any more battery life that static wall papers do

2.Can I upgrade OS from 2.2 to 2.3(now 2.1)?
3.Is it a trouble less phone?(ultimately it is Motorola also)

Hello Defy users,
I am planning to buy this phone. just want to know few things as follows;
1] Does it have FM radio?
2] Anybody triedout Froyo Or Gingerbread with custom rom? how is the performance, battery life after upgrade?
3] Anybody tried any third party 'Speech to Text' software in it (such as Vlingo). It helps in Text message, where you need to only speak and the text will appear on your message board.
4] Avarage battery life of Defy with 2.1 android?
5] Does it support Live Wallpaper?

The main reason people root their Android device for freedom and control, when you root your Android phone you gain full control over your system and can tweak it to your liking.. :) but this will void the warranty :(

Whenever I try to send multiple Sms.....it is unable to send them and i get Sms not sent Error.........quite buggy makes me angry........thinking of trading this phone with desire....

vonnn, 22 Jun 2011another question guys =) Main disadvantages •Android 2.... moreinternal memory is 2gb but actually you can only use 1.2gb of it to save apps.. well its not really a problem if your gf is not that app-lover..1.2gb is enough..you just need to expand external memory if you want to put much songs and pics..about 'No DivX video support' i dont know about that :) thats why i'm still waiting for froyo coz in froyo you can install apps on your memory card, but if its not really coming in phils maybe ill just root it.. :)

Main disadvantages
•Android 2.1 is an outdated OS version
•Limited storage for installing apps
•No smart dialing
•No HD video recording
•No DivX video support out of the box
•Equalizer controls are not within the music player
•No secondary video-call camera
gsmarena wrote this on the review of this phone as main disadvantage. these 2 disadvantage raises questions for me:

I thought this phone has 2gb internal memory and in addition package also includes 2gb sd card right?? (even here in the Philippines the 2gb sd card is included in the package right??) Then why does this still have a shortage for installing apps??
Also what does "•No DivX video support out of the box" mean?? this is for playing videos right?? Can this be installed after buying the phone??
