have a big problem - i've an Apple G4 but motorola phone tools cd is compatible with PC only. so i cannot register it, nor DL anything for my phone. short of spending $200+ for apple compatible version of windows, how can i get this phone to work/play with my computer?
have tried many times to connect via BT dongle, but my comp refuses to "discover" any mobile phones. i went through OS X BT set-up assistant a dozen times & am on verge of giving this phone away ( since i've no use for its camera & MP3 player).
how do i make this phone show up on the list of devices?
do i have to have phone tools installed beforehand in order to connect via BT? i'm in USA & motorola helpdesk is clueless on how to help me, since this phone isn't sold here, although it works vwery well with t-mobile

I didn't have any problems transfering files to and fro using BT between my E398 n a N6230. Neither did I have any problems w a SE K700i. So I guess the BT is quite stable. And, the battery life for the E398 is quite lasting. Yeap.

To ucsmfu
Go to connections, USB connections, memory card. Windows should say portable media device detected then transfer via portable media drive. ie. Open removable disk via my computer, mobile, audio. Then drag and drop the file you want to copy into that folder.
MPT can only send files to phone so, if you send a file that is larger then the free memory in your phone it will not allow the file to send.
To doink
Use google to find application for the e398
To Beth
You have to seem edit your phone so messages are stored on Trans flashes, resulting in more space. Use google to find the web site with the guide on seem editing.

Yes it can have applications put onto the phone.
To Fred
The phone can only read mpeg4 and 3gp video formats. So mpeg will not work on phone.

Thanks for the reply.
I actually put in 4 0's and 6 0's but both didn't work either. Anyway i have sent it to the service center.... They say they will change the whole internal board of my phone for me.... I just hope that they place the speakers and the camera correctly like the original phone... :(

I tried loading MPEG files from PC to Fone. Prior to doing this, I switched fone's storage device to trans (64MB small chip). It was a successful download, but cannot locate where the file is. I was successful in loading MP3 files and able to locate and play it using the fone but in video I can't. Anybody, please teach me. Thanks

to jim:
ahaha! looks like you're getting crapped by a few smart moto users here!
i've been reading this thread for the past month as i am planning to buy myself this phone and it didn't take me a masters degree nor a user's manual, nor handling the phone itself, to figure out the six "0"'s! :P
anyway, my advice to people who'll be reading jim's post is that let us forgive him for not being able to read the manual or doing a little research. i guess he's pretty fed up with reading from all the years he has spent trying to get smarter.
