what are the skins avialable at the moment ?

To Francesco-I'll try to send you a pic tomorrow...if I get online that is...^_^x There are 3 skins included in the phone, but if you want to replace them or add more skins, you'll have to use another program. Themes are just wallapers, screensavers and ringtones grouped so that you only select the theme instead of selecting them one by one. as for the position of the icons in the menu, you can move them whatever way you want.

To Francesco-Yes, the new firmware significantly reduces the lag in browsing the menus and when typing SMS. As for pictures with a white cover, I remember seeing one somewhere in www.howardforums.com, but I don't know where it is in there...you can search for it there though. If you don't find it there, I'll just take a pic of the phone in white and post it somewhere. Sound through earphones are graet, actually...comparable with the iPod (some find it even better...hehe)...^_^x
To Aris-I think 96R is available only around Singapore.
To Levent-I agree...but there's one thing that separates the Moto phones from the Samsung phones (except the D500)...BLUETOOTH! hehe! ^_^x
To MJ-you can use the bundled software (Mobile Phone Tools), a card reader, or if it's in your phone, the USB option wherein the phone becomes a thumb drive once connected to a PC.
To Rajesh Modi-haven't experienced that...try to bring it back to where you bought it or to the nearest Moto service center near you.^_^x

I need to know abouit :
1.where to look for a white cover 398 picture ?
2. do the firmware upgrade remove the lags from e398 software ?
3. important : is audio trough earphones good / comparable to ipod ( when using not std. motorola headset )?

Just changed over to E398 from nokia. It's nice and qute baby to dance with. Well, i have encountered a problem of blackout in the phone. Just while i was inreasing the voulume from side key. Suddenly the phone got hand and white light started blinking on the key pad. I tried several time to restart it by removing the battery also but on result. Any guys has faced such type of problem please help me... thanks. Rajesh

How do you transfer MP3's onto your motorola E398. I can't work it out. Is it just mp3 RING tones? Because I was under the impression it was any mp3 music file... Very confused!

I bought E398 as an old nokia user and don't regret at all. Motorola phones sucked until 2 years ago but with the new products they r alrady rocking the market! Moto screen is made by the best screen quality; SHARP, and u can see so many nice features on Motos now. I think only Samsung will be able to compete with Moto in the feature ;) Don't believe me? Check SE,Nokia phones and then PLEASE check THESE PHONES INDIVIDUALLY, YOU WON'T REGRET (just search them on google)--->that are upcoming or already in the market(-->) Moto phones E398,E680,RAZR V3, A780, A835,A920, A1000, E1000, MPx, and Samsung phones : SPH-S2300,SPH-V5400, SGH-E630,SGH-D500, SPH-i550,SGH-E720 (successor of E710/E715) ;) After all these I don't think you'll like nokia's 65000 screen or SE's lousy software. ---> Thanks for reading my post. yes, in the first few times i made sure that it was renamed with ".mp3" but still i got the same result.for some reason there are some inconsistencies but as long either way works, there is no problem :-)
To ^_^x : 96r is already available.
To smooth: aside from what ^_^x said about faster response with the newer version, on the pictures menu, there is already the option of "Flash On". before with 35r/36r(just not sure), the option is only Flash then you have to select it to either set the flash on or off.

Bulkiness and color of the phone is one - only - thing that stop me going out buying this one instead of a nec or another on the 200$ marks.
anyone can tell me where to look at the phone different colors / covers ?
I was expacially looking for the white/red cover , if anyone has links to pictures of different e398 colors please post them .

Many , again to ^-^ :) your posts are very useful for one who's trying to decide wheter to get or not the phone .
So .. do the firmware upgrade remove significantly the lags ?( I'm asking mainly because i experienced quite a bit of laggish behavior while surfing the msnus on the e398 when trying it )

To Daniel-there are many ways to load videos into the phone. You can use the bundled software, Mobile Phone tools, you can use a card reader, or, if you have the USB option in your phone, then you can just drag and drop the files into your phone the way you would into a flash drive.
To Smooth-you can improve the phone's performance significantly by flashing and flexing. 34R is the older firmware...that's what I have as well and I haven't really had any problems with it...95R is the newer version...it's much faster and it doesn't lag as much (espceially when typing SMS), and it has some new features like the USB option in the connection menu.

Thanks ^-^x! Since that time, I have been doing a search re: flex and flash. Can anyone tell me if there is a distinct difference in flexing and flashing my fone? My phone is a little more than a month old and I have not experienced any major problems with it, except for the MPT. What is the difference between the 34r and 95r?

I "loved" my N5210 (so what if it's passe, I still love that phone) and I was contented with using it. In fact I never paid attention to those colored camera phones but my little sister's N6610 got messed up so I had to give my beloved N5210 away and I saw the E398 commercial on MTV and I was, shiet, that's the phone for me!!! So my dear sweet mum gave it to me as a graduation gift. I was having doubts in owning a Motorola phone since everybody here in the Philippines use Nokia phones. At first, everytime I use my E398 I compare it to a Nokia phone's features and eventually I started to hate Nokia. Well not exactly hate, I just don't like that brand anymore. I've been working for SMART Communications Inc. for a month now and even one of the technical trainors does not like Nokia. Majority of my co-workers are Nokia owners and I'm proud to say that I'm the only one using a Motorola phone. My friends are impressed with my phone and they tell me, "I should have bought that instead of a Nokia phone!"

To Nisha-yes, you can store messages in the phone...if you get the one with the new firmware. Processor speed? This isn't a Smart Phone.
Kunal-Try transferring your files back to the PC, then try re-formatting your transflash card. That should solve your problem.
To Smooth-When you flash the phone, you put new firmware into the phone...it could be a newer version for the phone or it could be from a different phone. Flexing is just editing some of the properties of the phone.
To Longwei-what do you mean by change the skin? If you want to change the skin your using, go to settings, personalise, skin, and choose the skin that you want. If you wanna load new skins into the phone, go to www.howardforums.com and look for instructions there.

I miss my moto E398. I got this fone actually but unfortunately, I lost it last november (sob sob sob). Now I'm planning to buy a new fone early this year. To all E398 users, this fone really ROCKS! It's one of the best handsets ever!
