thanks crazy. How come others still have negative comments about this phone? Do you know the models E680 or E550? The E680 is very good because it has a touch screen. Is it available in the philippines or any countries in Asia? How much will the phone cost because it has very amazing features and its even better than the P900 which is very expensive. If it costs lesser maybe I'll get that phone. For now, I think the E398 is one of the good phones available in the Philippines and it doesn't cost that much.

raj, no. E398 meets the international standards for exposure to radio waves.

The Specific Absorbtion Rate(SAR) limit is 2.0W/kg. Tests for SAR are conducted in accordance with CENELEC testing procedures using standard operating positions with the phone transmitting at its highest power level in all tested frequency bands.

The highest SAR value for this phone when tested for use at the ear is 1.01W/kg.

The SAR limit recommended by international guidelines (ICNIRP) for mobile phones use by the public is 2.00watts/kilogram averaged over ten grams of tissue.

E398 is totally safe for your use. your brain will not get fried!!

I find the phone cool and very practical. It has all the features I am looking for in a phone at a low price (compared to nokia phones)

I am planning to purchase that phone within this week but i still have doubts like does it have a:
                              - video recorder?
                              - USB cable, 64MB memory card, and headphones in the box with the phone, free?
-is it really slow in copying music from the PC because I want to have as many mp3 songs in my unit.
-Do you think this is a really good phone?
                              PLs help me decide.
                              -
                              -does it

"tap extended" doesn't seem to exist in my new e398. there are characters like the "smiling u" that i regularly use as an emoticon to express delight....only iTap and Tap options are available apart from the Thai characters which is of little use here in the Philippines. can anyone out there help me access the TAP extended feature!

The MP3 is great but transferring them from PC to phone was a nightmare. sometimes it ends up in the phones internal memory and not in the T flash EVEN if you click and drag the music to the MMC icon! when this happens, expect to wait a minimum of 15 minutes for a short three minute song at 160 kbps. its a hit or miss transfer all the time! sometimes i get lucky and music is uploaded quickly into the T Flash.

then there's the issue on ringstyles where you want to configure specific sounds for incoming calls/sms/faxes/etc...a lot of times when you intend to revise "Loud Detail" under "ring styles", the phone reverts to the "settings" menu. happend to me several times within the last three days (the exact no. of days that the phone has been with me). i wanted to replace my sms alert. last night i decided to go to "Master Reset" under "inital set up". this cured the problem.

the rubber that covers the headphone jack seems to be made of gum! its the only eyesore of this unit. after removing and replacing the cover for about 5 times, the rubber cover became so deformed, it now it resembles demon horns on top of my unit.

                                      now for the good stuff....

i have a stunning silver and red phone that never ceases to catch attention. the screen is very bright even at the lowest setting (which is what i use. screen size is also very commendable.

the brighness and zoom features of the camera are also noteworthy but it can be horrible to use indoors even when you engage the built in flash. make sure you hold your breath when you snap those memories! a shakey hand will give you a picture that resembles Picassos paintings.

personalizing the menus are cool. you can assign the most frequently used function with this shortcut.

blue tooth connectivity is cool. not that difficult to access really. you can put it on you main menu it you use it often

the price here is about US$267 for a prepaid unit or US$160 for a lined one. a very reasonable amount for its cutting edge features.

verdict: i think this phone still has minor bugs that require fixing. overall, the E398 should give the nokia and SE boys a scare. a similar unit from these major manufacturers cost much much more than this baby.
