this phone has been with me for the last two weeks. ive gotten it working fine. i have succeeded finally in uploading the 64mb t-flash with butt kicking club remixes at 192kbps. i say "finally" because, regardless of what the manual said, sometimes music would be uploaded into the phone instead of the t flash. then theres this irritating matter of the invisible t-flash contents even if you click on the mmc icon. they may re appear when you exit from the program and re-run it....but this does not work all the time. like it has a mind of its own!
sometimes the phone would accept a particular music which it rejected earlier! the phone may accept a song thru a "click and drag" from the pc but wont accept it if you used the icons....then again...sometimes it works the other way around! whew....good thing i'm a little geeky... i've installed the cd into three different computers and i have had similar problems with each one. it would take a man (or woman) of immense tolerance to watch it load into the phone. better terminate a transfer if a 5 minute song doesnt load in 5 minutes. thats your cue that it is uploading into the phones memory.
now the good stuff:i tested the mp3 while i ran for thirty mins. i must admit that the mp3 made my jog infinitely enjoyable. quality is as good as commercially available units...pity the bigger memory tflashes arent available yet. the camera was a puzzler for a while since some pics were great while the others resembled abstract paintings. then i found out yesterday that you or your subject have to keep perfectly still for another second even after it confirms the shot!
overall i am happy with this phone. true value for money with its great features.a person just has to spend sometime learning its quirks. furthermore, the motorola people here are very professional and will not stop until they solve your concerns.

I own an E398 theres nothing wrong with the software. The phone is a bit sluggish with response times but nothing bad. The only time the delay is really noticable is when you are using the camera.

hey guys if u wanna download java games in your e398 the jar files doesn't run in Motorola e398, you need a .jad file converter like jadgen. You have to use a program called midway 2.8 to be able to upload a java program to your phone but you have to enable first the java apps using the PST 6.7 program. Since e398 comes with a USB data cable you can use it to transfer any wallpaper, tones, screensaver, mp3 and java programs or if not u can go straight to the motorola centre and ask the guys there to help you out....try it,...

i have motoE398 for almost a month and i find it very good except for the lousy lay-out of phonebook, and another thing i still trying uploading java apps/games, no success yet but i think its a matter of compatibility of drivers/OS i'm using. Sash regarding ur bluetooth prob. i'm using Smart Sim but i think its not related with the network try Menu>Setting>Security>Lock Application, check if the "Connection" is locked then unlock it, the default pass is 1234
