hey guys i have some questions that hopefully you can answer about the e398
I just bought one and cant figure out some stuff...where do i turn key tones off? Where do i change my SMS tone? and does motorola have different profiles (eg Loud, Quiet, etc.) like the nokias do? there is too much to learn about this phone espec when i have had a nokia for about 6 years

well..i think if u want to go for the brand,get nokia. if u want to go for the really COOL music,get moto and if u really want to go for the pictures get k700.i had that problem too but i choose moto cause of the super speakers man!! they rock!!!

Go for motorola e398, it not worth getting nokia 6230 or k700.

moto doesnt have video player
nokia has shit screen mmc card problems?
sony e doesnt have expension slot

if you dont want predictive text follows these steps
select New Short Msg
press middle button (between softkeys)
in Entry Mode select 'Primary'
in Entry Setup select 'Tap Extended' or 'Tap English' for Primary Setup. select 'None' for Secondary Setup
theres probably a way to fix the second thing with the sms but i dont know what it is.

Hi all e398 guru's,
what sort of file transfer speed r u getting when using the usb cable?
I'm getting only 1.5 to 2 MB/min throughput. How about using bluetooth?

I have one. i have two comments. When in SMS or text entry mode it defaults to the 'fast' predictive text entry mode all the time and I can't find an option to make the default entry mode the 'normal' mode (it calls this secondary mode). I wish I could turn this secondary mode to be the primary mode by default.
when you set a ring tone for someone (or a group) in the phone book it also uses this tone for SMSs from that person, which I find annoying - I'd like a custom ring tone for that person but to use the normal SMS tone for all SMSs.
I don't know if these two annoyances can be fixed but I wish they could be.
apart from that I like this phone very much.

thanks for the first answer. But I can use the tools because my computer is installt on windows 98. In a few weeks I will have windows XP. But what shall I do meanwhile? Is there no posibility to use with t-flash? My mail-adress was wrong…Jimmy

u can use the mobilephone tools to transfer the mp3 u wanted into the phone memory.not the t-falsh card.u can also save a small section of the mp3 that u want to be the ringtone.that way u save more space.

Hey Jimmy,
I believe ringtones must be stored in the phone memory. U can't store it in the t-flash. It must have sth to do with access speed.

You can activate the view of what tower is being used if you look hard enough, I've done it before. Great phone, and their menu system is now just as easy to use as Nokia. Best phone for the price so far from motorola. Very nice.
