modding ur phone can be done at ur own risk. better to read & research more b4 modding...
.. talking about warranty, u can just flash back ur 1st backup (i mean, ur s/w version by the time u bought ur phone).. everything would b fine, same as the original phone..

U will need backup firmware just in case u failed to modded/flashed/upgrade your phone. So, this firmware/software will restore your phone.
PS. Flashing/modding/upgrade your phone like this is considered 'unauthorized' and it might void your phone warranty. Well, that what my friends says. So, think twice first... Coz, to me the video recording is not very impressive either... :(
If u still interested... go to www.howardforums.com or www.motomodders.com n look for the type of software upgrade that u want. About how n what to do.... they will tell u what to do in that site. I still suggest that it is better not to flash/upgrade/mod your phone.

I've had problems with my memory card!When I transfer music or 3gp files via usb cable it says it has succesfully sent but when i check on my phones folder it says empty!

actually, for me, installing games can be done some ways:
@ if fone has s/w version of R372_xxx (can be view under "other information". here's my previous post:

u can install games but first u have to download P2KTools software.. here are the procedures:
1. go first to connectivity and set usb settings to DATA/FAX CONNECTIONS.
2. plug ur fone & open P2KTools.
3. @P2KTools; see in status bar if Connected & press KJAVA menu (on the right area of the application) & press REFRESH (on the bottom part) & u should see some files. Files having JAR extensions are ur games...
4. if u already downloaded some JAR files from web, press INSTALL (still inside KJAVA menu), & browse the downloaded JAR files..
5. press OK and there u go!..
6. restart ur phone & enjoy the games u've installed...
for JAR files, surf to www.getjar.com...
please try 2 specify ur s/w version...

btw, u can cus2mized ur fone & install what u like.. & can even chose ur icons, tones, add more skins & games.. (u can even make ur own skins & icons..) but these things were quite advanced... so, far.. just an info..

hi 2 all! here's something 4 those who r new & find boring w/ their E398 (untouched!..)
advantages (pros) in upgrading (modding) ur fones:
1. iTunes (f u like)
2. faster speed (in terms of browsing, texting as well as picture taking)..
3. more options (menu)were added.
4. surrounds (sounds) were realllly greatttt!...
5. great games & cool skins were included on some MP's (made from GREAT MP makers!..)
6. video recordings were unlimited (for 6FR only..) 90 mins. for 4xR..
7. (mayb i miss somethings... (hope someone will add...))
cons:
1. battery life, quite lesser
2. some bugz..(but 45R's were quite stable)
3. some menus were removed (some fine them useless).. e.g. Themes, MotoMixer, Chat..etc.)
4. (mayb i miss something.. somehow, some may add..)

hey Daniel,
try 2 modd ur fone & u won't find regrets.. i think u like sounds well, better flash it w/ 6FR (hope u got what i mean..) w/ iTunes so u can compress ur songs & install more. but first, pls. do backup everything... but in terms of warranty, just flash back ur back-up, & everything would b fine...
after all they are only my suggestions..

yez.. supplied earphones were really good. but somehow, it depends on the firmware u've been using...
.. try 2 modd ur fone, but first do some great research, u may surprise that ur fone had something...
.. for me, i have iTunes & convert my songs to MP4 format.. & used 56 kbps w/c made my songs more compress. i assure u, the sounds were still good. w/ my 64 MB (actually 60.9 MB) i got 32 songs.. compared to 128 kbp that only had 13+ songs...

I had exactly the same problem as you, and after scouring the net and racking my brain i finally figured it out, well stumbled across the solution anyways :-) if you are lucky enough to have a voice dial name stored on your phone and can access that phone entry in your ph book, then go to it then go to menu on that ph number and then go to setup in phonebook menu, you should have 3 options there, View by: sort by: and then lastly View: go to this last one, View, and change it from Primary contacts ( which is what my was saved on ) to All contacts, then you should be able to access your asterix phone entry and delete it. I hope! well it worked for me :-) Good luck.
