Hello Moto!!
Been toying wit e398 for two months now..i m impress by the 3D stereo sound..it like having a mini sub woofy speaker..hmmm...when volume at 80%...can feel the phone like shaking beat box...try few techno or trance... no wonder it need semi metal casing in case the phone fall apart by the heavy beats!! kekeke...kinda Stylish look too.
pro: 64mb changeble, brilliant 3D stereo, bright led, bluetooth, multiply flashy colour lights on the side cover, auto/manual ccd exposure, very sensitive mic and handsfree speaker phone.
cons: charger input abit loose, no radios?? hmmmph....!??
Why i buy it? coz of the stylish design, very solid built, not cheap plastic cover casing, superb 3D stereo sound, speaker phone, built in cam 4X digital + bright LED.

hey radjimoto(or everybody)can you tell me the succesfull/unsuccesfull precentage on flashing/flexing it into i398?looks like many of you did it succesfully,but from what i read it can failed and makes the phone DEAD!thanx alot!

I purchased my E398 over ebay in the exclusive MTV package, came with 64mb t-flash, data cable and all that jazz... quite impressed at first with its performance. Things went downhill quickly though. I experienced resets ALL the time, keypad backlight problems, general lagging of phone, very poor reception. In the end, months later, many emails later... I bought a different network sim (vodaphone) now it works like clock work. I even flashed the E398 with a monster pack, Thus now turning the phone into an I398.
Upgraded firmware was included, better camera resolution (you better believe it), quad band GSM..and best of all, NO lag what so ever.
Not to mention More themes, more ringtones.

Nice phone, packed with lovely features, but there is one thing I hate about it: why do I ever have to _know_ that there are different types of memory? I paid for a 64M card, plus 4MB internal, and I still can only store 25 SMS messages, because that's as much as the SIM thing will hold? The Trans card can store hours of music, but only what's on the internal memory can be used as ringtones? I cannot make a playlist with some tracks from the card and some from the internal memory? This is a phone, folks, not a constitution, I want it to work, not to enforce the distribution of powers!

I have the e398 and it has been updated to the i398. When I go the phone it came with a 128mb card with songs loaded on it, and ituned worked with those songs. But i deleted them in an effort to get my own music on the t-flash card. The problem is, i have no idea how to sync the phone with itunes! Can someone please help me!?!

Features are great but find it hard getting used to... bluetooth worked with other devices detecting the e398, but not the other way around. can't discover other bluetooth enabled devices! so bluetooth feature is one way! is this correct? i've been to globe hub but they said my unit is not defective though they can't make it work! pleas help...

Damn, I can't wait to get my hands on this phone. I've just signed a retention contract with my cellphone service provider and it's been a month and they still haven't supplied me with this unit. I'm in the Philippines btw, glad to see some Pinoys here also. I can't wait to get it, but a T-flash card and load it with my fave mp3s!

its a great experience & confidence to own motorola e398.i ve a doubt. can we install other softwares in e398 as in the case of nokia 6600? if yes , please sent me some...

just got my E398, i also got a flash card for it, but i put it in and went to settings-phone status-storage device- but it only lists PHONE, there is no other device, i mean im looking for the T flash card to store music or ringtones... please help me out anyone... what should I do?

adam, of course you need to delete your previous audio files. itunes puts the songs on the t-flash. if there's no empty space...

sure u got 40 poly in the K700 but you cant even use any of that as an sms tone if someone wanted to...LOL :D

Ya,but 40 poly sound quality is nice,n sumtimes if u wan sum mp3 from a phone dat juz only got infrared,wat should i do...? :S example from k500...

i've finally done modifying my phone...its great....but one thing...HOW DO I PUT SONGS INTO MY iTUNES??it says 57.8 MB used even though i havent put any songs in the itunes or must i delete songs from my memory card??

Hi,
I bought this TRIBAND widescreen(65K TFT) handset, E398 3 days ago for Rs 10,250 in Mumbai (India).It has amazing stereo phonic sound and onpurchase 64 MB Transflash card(can store mp3 files)that fits on your nails and USB cable are astonishing features for the given price.It has glowing lights besides two 22W stereo surround polyphonic speakers make it excellent.It may not be as tawdry in look as Nokia 7610.It may be compared in its segment with Nokia 6600 which presently is priced Rs 11,500.Its VGA cam (4X digital zoom) is also far better than 6600.However it does not have Symbian OS which 6600 possesses.But this drawback is well compensated by java enabled platform applications.
I have tested its bluetooth with my PDA
Tungsten T3.It works perfectly fine.It does not have inbuilt radio ; which can be attached with a headset as an accessory.The best part is the sound quality of reception is far superior to my old Nokia 3100.I rate this phone *****.
I wonder why people purchase Nokia here just for the sake of its brand popularity.

hey i need some help with flashing the phone to i398. i am asking for help from someone who has already done this. i have done the first part i.e. the first part of converting from r372 to r373. i could not start flashing the "12i PRE Flash.shx". i get a message "the application is not initialized!(flash tool/ super file)". please help me with tis.
