mate if i were you i would avoid Sony ericsson at all costs. make no mistake i am no motorola fan. i'm no one's fan boy for that matter. but i know one thing for sure. SE produces FANTASTIC phones that are almost as durable as toilet paper. if u wanna phone that's loaded with features and with bugs, a phone that you'd have to charge everyday, a phone where the keypad and joystick malfunction within a couple of months by all means the K700i is the phone for you. you see, this is SE for you all the way. remember the T610? BIGGEST hit in its time but the crappiest camera phone of all time in my books. many bugs...
now on to the moto E398. awesome phone but that too has a few problems. but i'll state right at the start it's a few dozen times better than the K700i. when it first came out the E398 had a laggy software and few problems with its interface. but by now mate the E398's that come out are all upgraded to better S/W versions. (like 96 R) so the only probs you'd find would be the phonebook that lacks some essential features, use of half the screen size when in camera mode and video playback, extended charging time of 4 hours...thats about it. it lacks video recording as you might already know. but the phone makes up for it with some of its other outstanding features. it comes with a USB cable. very handy. a software CD that works well.. and blah blah blah...
so you see what it really comes down to is...both phones are BRILLIANT. each offers a feature or two that the other one lacks. it's upto you to figure out what you'd want more. an expandable memory is always handy mate...
anyways the prob with SE is that they always play a dual role of entertaining you and making you feel like tearing your hair out with their durability...( or should i say the lack of it...)

Okay i have roughly 250-300 bucks. K700i or e398. K700i has video and looks good. E398 has transflash up to 256mb and looks decent. What to buy. An honest opinion please not a die hard moto modder opinion. Thanks heaps

yes..motorola does support truetune...
urm..i lso hv a problem here where everytime my friend send my songs via bluetooth it will says FILE TYPE NOT RECOGNISED..and why is that happen??
and how to delete songs from mp3? i dint found the delete button..??

i never thaught it would be like this it s great whata big memory and what a highspeaker the only problem is the camera cif but any way it s cheap and great buy it yes do it i advise it seems perfect large mem very large and modern style ciao

Hey man thanks alot. now i get it. it responds to the sound AROUND the phone yeah? cool.
i figured out how to convert the songs in to lower kbps than 128. one of the CDs that comes with the phone does it.

Hi, Everyone.. Well I got my E398 1 week ago and one word to define it is 'wonderful' I've read that some of you complained about the speed of the fone but mine is OK such as the speed of the sms typing, listening MP3 or mid. files, viewing pictures and so on...
Hmm.. the only drawback is dat it does not have a video recorder just too bad!!
One Ques: How to put theme to the fone? coz I've already downloaded some & it is in Zip format.

hey pete,
rhythm lights only work when you are in a noisy environment like a disco house . the lights flicker in sync with the OUTSIDE music or sound. it doesnt work with whenever you play your mp3. very cool when inside a disco or bar. as for you other questions, go to http://www.motomodders.net/Default.aspx?g=topics&f=5

2)How do I activate games I download on my computer because it's WinRar.

unfortunately you're experiencing a few of the minor drawbacks in the E398 and there really isn't a way around to your probs.
the phonebook features are not very impressive as mentioned time and time again in several reviews. and there is only that one letter search option.
to send sms also u have to go thru all those steps. there isn't any other way.
and finally the charge time for the batt is 4 hours and there isn't anything wrong with ur batt in that regard.
so there it is. the probs u mentioned are simply a couple of lil cons in the phone. but the E398 DOES make up for it with some of its other features.
hope this will dispell ur concerns. you'll get used to it hopefully.
as for my probs i posted earlier i hope someone would give me a piece of advise too. and also guys how do you compress the songs in to say 64kbps or something? is it done with tht mobile tools software? is the song size reduced considerably then? and also about those rythm lights i asked before?

Hi,
Overall perf of Moto e398 is gud. Dual speakers,,MP3 plyr, cam, 64k display,games iTAP are kewl.
But I have few things troubling always...WOuld be grateful if someone could help on this.
1) I have searched enough for this feature, but i dont find ' Any search options for phone book' So if u have lot of names starting with the same letter, u r quite lost, whn u have to make an urgent call..
2)Sending messages is a pain. COz, the navigation is cumbersome.. I need to click on OK->SELECT->ADD->DONE->SEND Is there any quick way of sending messages??
3)It takes 4 hrs to completely charge..Is anyone facing the same issue? Also, the charge shows up empty whn the phone battery meter says full and vice versa..
If anyone could help, please do. Thanx!

hey guys can u pls give me a bit of help? i bought this phone on saturday and it's awesome. but there are a couple of things i still couldnt figure out. how can i get the rhythm lights to work with the songs when i play them? the manual isn't that helpful either:( i havent been able to get the lights to work with the songs. do they enhance the sound quality or something? and also what does Instant messaging do? is it like an MSN messenger thingy in the phone? meaning we can see who's online with it? and chat? i suppose it costs too?
i'm not much of a phone geek and this phone certainly offers a lil challenge to figure things out. i'd REALLY appreciate any help guys! pls?
finally the phone is great. the USB cable is a real help since i havent got bluetooth on my PC. oh and also i think i have to download Nokia mobile converter 2.0 to convert videos in to a compatible form right?

Hi all.
been using my E398 for nearly a year now and just noticed that there are no options for address or notes in a phonebook entry. it only has phone number and email. Does anyone know if there is a java application that i can install in order to include other fields in my phonebook entries? any helpful comment is very much appreciated. thanks in advance!
