If you don´t like the camera perfomance from the Edge 30 ultra, try the pixel 7. I think Motorola is not the best but it´s a good all rounder.
3 OS updates is fine for me (Edge 30 ultra)

Anyways, here is a list of Motorola phones I have owned, and some of them I still have.
D460
M3288
E398/StereMoto (still have two of them)
RAZR V3
RAZR V3x
RAZR2 v8 (still have two of them)
RIZR Z8 (still have)
MOTOFONE F3 (which I got for fun whilst my Z8 was on callback service)
Zine ZN5 (which i regretfully gave my to ex-wife and she ruined)
Motorola Milestone (which i regretfully gave to my ex-brother-in-law and he ruined)
RAZR XT910 (still have)
All of these are from when Motorola still was Motorola.
My son currently has the Moto G9 Plus, which apart from the typical bad camera performance compared to HW and lacking software support is a nice device. It's just that camera performance and software support are two very important key features of a smartphone and Motorola does bad at both of them. Like it or not Xiaomi does better. Hence I switched and now have the Mi 11.
I'm not the only one to switch away from Moto. First to Sony, then Xiaomi, and with good reason. What will my next phone be? I don't know yet, as that will depend on who has the most tempting offering based on both my needs and desires at the time of purchase. Right now the Pixel 7 pro would be a likely candidate, but I'm not in the market for a new phone yet.
We consumers only fool ourselves and loose by being loyal to brands. Brand loyalty is a bad thing from a consumer perspective. Keep that in mind.

What is it worth having 4 years of bugs? because that is all that xiaomi delivers every time it updates a phone and when it usually does, I prefer 2 or 3 years, something that does not affect me because I change my phone every 6 months, 8 months at most, I prefer 3 years of good updates to 4 that only get worse one after the other!! ahhh that xioami duga that will give 4 years does not assure in time or frequency that of said updates, it still has 2021 phones in android 12

Of these two devices the following is promised by the manufacturers:
Moto - Android 13 and 14 upgrades
Xiaomi - Android 12, 14 and 15 upgrades and 4 years of security upgrades.
So yes, in this case it is better.
Your old Note 8 was not in question, however it is a fairly super budget device and still it got a security patch in July this year. My son's Motorola G9 Plus, that came out one year after your Note 8 and costed almost twice as much here in my market, has no such luck, despite being newer and in a higher price range. Last security patch was in January 2022 on the G9 Plus.
The more recent Note 9 devices from spring 2020, so half a year older than my son's Moto, got android 12 even. The moto did not get such luck.

Motorola Solutions still lives on, separately. Motorola Mobility is just Lenovo devices in a Moto suit, because no one wanted to buy Lenovo smartphones outside of Asia.
It is obvious that you are blinded by marketing/logos and don't care for performance and support. Paying 50% more for essentially the same HW, with under performing camera software and when the competition offers 50% more android OS upgrades is a bad personal choice, one you are perfectly allowed to make, but a horrible recommendation to others.

Moto has less details, washed out colors and fringes on all lines and edges. Same main sensor, yet the Xiaomi looks a generation ahead of Moto.
Motorola being Motorola will offer weak software support. The 12T-series of Xiaomi gets three Android OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates. Meaning the Xiaomi will even get Android 15.
What about the Moto? Motorola has promised only Android 13 and 14 for the Edge 30 Ultra.
So, the Moto Edge 30 Ultra costs 50% more for essentially the same hardware with lower performance. And yet the Xiaomi will get a 50% more Android OS upgrades.
Again, the choice is so very obvious for anyone who isn't a Motorola fanboy. The Xiaomi is the best option by far. In fact, you can even upgrade to a higher Xiaomi model with even better performance at the same price of the Moto. No need to settle for the budget T-series, you can get the 12 Pro and it's still better priced than the Moto and the camera performs several generations ahead.

Lenovo is insignificant on a global scale as far as this topic, smartphones, go. Less than 1% market share.
Motorola used to be a giant, second in fact after Nokia, but has barely 2.5% market share the past years. Xiaomi has 14% market share and better software support. Xiaomi is no. 3 after apple and Samsung as far as market share goes. Very close to apple.
