Take the Edge 30 ultra for instance, it has auto brightness issues, that have never been sorted out due to their poor policy of software updates,
Software updates it´s no all about new feaures or comestic changes or security patches, but sort bugs.
Taking this into consideration and feel ok about it, i´d say go ahead! I´d take the pixel any day instead , even with not so top notch hardware, but that´s just me

In where I live, they sell the x40 (China ver. but still the same phone, they just give it global rom) for only 550$ 12/256gb and 600$ for 512gb in an official online store. Barely anyone notices it and feels like such a steal. Sure, there's Samsung s23 but its more expensive at 650$ and no warranty since its grey market.
Is there a reason for me to get s23 over this phone if I don't care about camera and don't care about software updates?

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2023I´m not only interested on visual aspects which android 13 ... moreI am a currently owner of a edge 20 pro and a edge 30 ultra , edge 20 has android 13 and edge 30 has android 12 . Nothing major improved on edge 20 pro trough android 13 just made it impossible to find some features and missing some I use to loved on android 12 , no battery improvements or such whatsoever. Edge 30 ultra still on android 12 and I love it as it is , it gets the security updates and that's what really matters in my opinion. Stop saying that android 13 is better cause it's not , nothing special about it.

But overall with the system being improoved you get better overall perfomance and you should get better battery life and other optimizations too.
Sure it matters and I´m entitled to have OS upgrades, I´ve paid the premium price like others did.
If I didn´t want them, according to your logic I might as well bought the an E series Moto and have a dated OS version, why bother, right?

Reviewers have said android 13 changed almost nothing. That's pretty common. How fast it gets updated doesn't matter. The features you presumably bought the phone for, being camera, Motorola Ready for, and a few others I've probably missed, all get updated through the play store. Stock android 13 is barely different than android 12. You're complaining not because it actually affects what the device can do, but your perception of its value. Android 13 on my V60 is frankly unnecessary. Fingerprint sensor is a bit faster, app performance is slightly better, but none of those things are attached to Android. Who cares if it gets updated. Clearly you, but for a phone where it's main selling point features get updated through the play store, why does it matter what the base android version is?

Also, Motorola updates key system components through the play store rather than big infrequent software updates, so if there's a bug in the camera or a new feature you'll actually get it before other phones. Considering the small improvements in android 13, especially if you're not running a stock ROM, I'd take that any day. Oh no, it's android 12. Oh well. What does 13 really offer other than visual changes and a few permissions. I haven't noticed anything.

Never buy motorola if you care about camera quality. Other then that.... Theres better 8gen2 phones then this. I would advise buying the edge 40 or other flagships
