Alfabravo, 11 Sep 2022Hello,
Could someone please check if the notes field of ... moreHey man,
It does. I tested it at over 10,000 characters and it supports it (though with that much data it takes a couple of seconds to load the contact.) It's just the default Google Contacts app that I use at the moment, but I don't sync it to Google (keep it on the device memory only) so I dunno about if synchronized contacts support it or not.
Anyway, further regarding my experiences with the phone. It is nice to use. I have disabled all the unneccessary apps and gestures, customized it to be as slick as possible and this phone is good, I can still recommend it.

Hello,
Could someone please check if the notes field of the contacts accepts text with more than 1.000 characters in this phone?
The Realme8 which I currently have accepts only 1.000 characters in each contact and truncates the rest of the characters. The same thing is happening with all Samsung and Xiaomi phones I checked.
I keep notes for each customer (contact) and often the notes exceed the set limit.
I didn’t have this problem with my previous phone which was a Moto G5s
I’d appreciate any help.

Tonik, 25 Aug 2022😆😆😆😆😆that "I'm looking at you, Samsung" thou... moreThank you, I hope people find value in my review. The Moto G31 seems to be excellent value for money. I'm currently tweaking/customizing it to see what I can get out of it, I have to say I like it more and more as I use it. I'm even getting used to the size - while I don't find it necessary for a phone to be this big and I definitelt wouldn't mind a smaller phone, I'm getting used to it and feeling ok about it.
I can recommend this phone for anyone who values the same things as I do:
- Bang for the buck.
- Near blank slate Android.
- OLED screen.
- Long lasting battery.
- Headphone jack and microSD slot.
Yeah, this phone is a winner in my book.

I got this phone a few days ago as a replacement for my Honor 7 which bit the dust (RIP my friend.) Here are my first thoughts:
Pros:
- OLED display is absolutely beautiful.
- Performance is very smooth and snappy.
- Battery life seems to be good for a smartphone. I charged it to 80% yesterday morning and this morning it was at 47%. I'm not a very heavy smartphone user mind you.
- Headphone jack and microsd slot 🥳
- Motorola's flavor of Android seems to be very clean. There's barely any bloat, except Facebook which I uninstalled and some needless (to me) Google apps, but it seems they can be disabled if not uninstalled completely 🤔
Cons:
- The phone is just a tad too big for my tastes. I realize this is the way phones are these days, but I would certainly prefer a smaller phone. In fact I have used even Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini as my daily driver phone as recently as a few years ago and to me it wasn't too small at all 😄 You can't comfortably use this phone one handed for most tasks, which to me is the by far biggest con of this phone.
- Only 4 gb of ram, which I was a little concerned about due to my terrible experiences with Android memory management (apps closing without my consent.) I disabled a setting related to ram and battery savings, have to keep an eye on things... Though I read that Motorola Android is not as aggressive in memory management as some other manufacturers. We'll see.
- Many annoying and unnecessary gestures which just make using the phone more difficult are enabled by default, but they can be disabled relatively easily if you dig around a bit. I'm not entirely sure if this is a Motorola or Android 11 thing, as I'm making a jump from Android 6.
- Camera is "ok" but nothing more. This might be a dealbreaker for some, I personally don't care as long as its passable, which it is.
- Non removable battery 👎🏻 Again, I realize that this is how most phones are these days, but I still consider it a con nonetheless.
Personally, I got this phone on a deal for 149€. For that price, this phone is phenomenal. The other phones I was eyeing were Sony Xperia 10 IV, Motorola Edge 20 and Oneplus Nord CE 2 5G. The Sony phone was the most tempting alternative because it had a smaller size and more ram, but I find their decision not to include a charger and cable to being frankly quite insulting and that is what broke the camel's back for me. The Motorola Edge I eventually decided to be too big, and the Oneplus turned me off because I read terrible things about their Android variant. Also, all of them would have cost considerably more than what I paid for this phone so the choice eventually became obvious.
All in all, for someone like me, who really sees a smartphone primarily just as a tool, this phone so far seems to be a great choice and I couldn't imagine the need to spend more money on more higher end device unless you REALLY care about photography or I find out the hard way that 4 GB of ram will be lacking. It's funny how a phone like this would be considered a "budget" or lower end midrange phone. The performance is absolutely mindblowing for a "budget" phone, as in the past I have seen phones in this price range to suffer from major drawbacks in almost all areas (I'm looking at you, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. You and your 1 GB of ram... 😠)
Me and my wallet are glad that technology has evolved 😂

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2022Definitely Moto G31! For several reasons FHD OLED display,... moreOhh you're so passionate about that 😆 yeah, this Unisoc had me doubting, though it's not always bad, but don't know how nokia optimized it with all the other features. Moto's battery is better though it is 5000 mh compared to 5050 or smth of nokia's? You mean moto don't have battery drain unlike nokia?

Tonik, 23 Aug 2022🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣wow, you even provided the dictionary, thanks, I'... moreThat's a tough comparison. The Nokia G21 has guaranteed to get two years of Android OS and three years of monthly security updates. It also has better battery. The downside is the teardrop display which looks outdated.
Moto G31 has better display (waaay better) and you get a more versatile camera system. I just hope Motorola will add at least two years of OS updates, too.
For now, I'm waiting for newer phones from Nokia and Motorola because I'm still looking for better options. Also consider that Motorola's added features to the Stock Android are actually useful.
The newly released Nothing phone comes with a clean OS that highly resembles Stock Android. But that's just out of my budget.

Tonik, 23 Aug 2022🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣wow, you even provided the dictionary, thanks, I'... moreDefinitely Moto G31! For several reasons
FHD OLED display, million times better than the mediocre display from HMD
Better Soc , this Mediatek than the Unisoc
Better batery life
Moto gestures too are vey nice. I would discard the Nokia (HMD), it´s no longer a Nokia at all...

Tonik, 22 Aug 2022Hey 👋 what do you think about stock android? Is it better t... moreStock and pure Android is the way to go. I've been using Xiaomi Mi A2 under Android One program, which has been great. Its stock Android UI design is simply spot on.
On the contrary, I upgraded to Mi 10T Pro with MIUI and the experience is just terrible. I can't believe how Xiaomi ruined a functionality-centered original Android UI and forces bad UI/UX of MIUI which, for me, is sacrilegious (noun: acting or speaking very disrespectfully toward what is held to be sacred).
So, go with a handset from Google, Nokia, or Motorola.

Cause I've heard about problems with Xiaomi and realme's overlays and so on. I don't know, do I buy something on stock android like this Moto g31 or some Nokia or are there some really good overlays optimized with the CPU?

Hey 👋 I wanted to ask those who know a great deal about software overlays, cause I've been looking for a good device for a couple of days (em, not very expensive 😀, but I just don't want to pay extra money for brands and some huuuge features they're trying to combine in one phone, I want one that is OPTIMIZED AND BALANCED), and I'm so tired and just fed up with it, I was paying attention to cpu, but now I'm really into these overlays, cause actually their mix is the thing, and don't want bugs because some 'cool' cpus can't manage some overlays, so can you pleeeaase help me ? Is there some really good overlays? I've heard miui and realme ui (recent 3.0) are really challenging for example, and exynos consumes battery a lot. Or is it better to get stock android like in Motorola g31? I will really appreciate that, I'm really desperate 😑😔😓😅 🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
