Be careful in regard to this phone.
The specifications of this device are great for the money and most of the features are perfect, however not everything is in plain sight, The guts of the phone have some unusual things removed which are hidden by the buzz words of an 8 core CPU decent GPU and 2GB of ram... what the box doesn't say and most shop staff don't know is that it doesn't have a Magnetic sensor (no compass functionality) and it has no Orientation sensor. That is really unusual considering the first gen moto G that I upgraded from has both of these sensors.
Personally, I would have preferred if they cut back on the camera or something, or made it a little more expensive rather than removing these features. I feel blinded by high in your face specs and wish I'd researched a little deeper before buying this, I just honestly never expected the device to LOSE features over previous generations.
The performance of the device is fantastic for the price, but I feel that it needs to be more obviously listed to people when features are suddenly no longer there, cheaper devices have both of these sensors so in my opinion removing them from the G4 was rather deceptive.

Great phone for a great price. I opted for the 32Gb version and I'm not disappointed. Love the larger screen, the dual band wi-fi, the 13Mpixel camera. Media plays smooth. Web browsing is great too. But that may be a function of the 5Ghz wi-fi it's connected to. pictures are first rate. I loaded the Moto FM radio app so I could use the internal FM radio as well. The only nits that I have are that it feels a bit large in the hand, and the lack of bundled gallery app. In all, it's a good phone for a great price.

My Moto G⁴ XT1622 has some weird motion blur like effect. App icons leave a blurry trail when swiping in any direction and same for text. It started after I update my phone software recently. Is this a software problem?

Holden, 06 Oct 2016I don't know if this appeals to you, but the Moto 4th Gen, ... moreMost users need it to be able to install large games, but Android 6 do it all wrong because the actual game, "engine", should still be installed on the internal memory and only gamedata on the external sd-card because if the game itself is installed on the sd-card it becomes unplayably slow! Android 6 also force every app and game to be installed on the sd-card, not on the faster internal memory first, after it is formatted as a part of the internal memory! This is a big problem, and have stopped me from playing games on phones anymore!

AnonD-577029, 29 Aug 2016bt if i want to use this memory instead of external memory ... moreI don't know if this appeals to you, but the Moto 4th Gen, with Android 6, allows 'adoption' of a SD card, as internal memory, which creates one single pool of internal storage (onboard + card), which can be used for nonmovable apps, or whatever reason you would want/need larger onboard storage.

AnonD-581025, 06 Sep 2016Definitely. Just bought one and am very pleased with it. ... moreWho really cares that it has no compass?
Users that use their phone for more than Facebook and games. I, for one, chose a large screen because I use astronomy apps, quite often... or rather, I did. They won't work without a compass. Many nav apps don't work, or have reduced functionality, because they use a compass. MANY other types of apps use the compass(magnetometer).
So, then, who cares? A LOT of people, who aren't you.

AnonD-265139, 06 Oct 2016You must have the Moto g4 play, that has a 5 inch screen, ... moreCorrect, the screen specs are 5" for G4 Play and 5.5" for G4/G4 Plus. However... while I cannot confirm for G4 Play, or G4 Plus, I can say the G4 has 'soft keys' along the bottom of the screen, not the bottom of the bezel, which take up a significant amount of screen space, reducing practical screen size to about 5". I wasn't at all happy about it and think it's a very poor design element. I actually made a number of compromises with the G4 and while it's a pretty good device, on its own merits, I'm not so happy - non removable battery, no physical Home button, on screen soft keys and NO MAGNETOMETER!!! Seriously don't know what they were thinking, giving it A gyro, but NO COMPASS!!!

AnonD-590073, 01 Oct 2016Hey Friends plz help me to suggest a good Mobile phone, Wh... moreI only have significant experience with a couple phones from your list, but performance, price and style, all come together quite well with the Nexus 5x... especially in the mint green. My chief problem with Nexus devices, as well as some others on your list, is lack of expandable storage(SD slot). I demand expandable storage and removable battery, and while I can usually overlook the battery, for a good enough deal, the expandable storage is typically a deal breaker. The Nexus is about the only exception I will make, to that rule. I'm currently using a Moto G4, which would be a 4 star device, but for lack of a magnetometer. Because I use a lot of nav and astronomy apps that use, or require a compass, I give the Moto only 2 stars, due to its very limited usefulness.
