Citrax, 25 Jun 2021I can honestly say that I haven't experienced a single... more1) If in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies, which means the item has to DURABLE enough to be fit for purpose and of merchantible quality. A phone, which is 100% going to be dropped at some point in its lifespan, is NOT fit for purpose if it breaks so easily. Just because the average muppet tolerates this pathetic standard, does NOT make it either irrational (as you posit) nor unlawful to expect the manufacturer (via the RETAILER, with whom you have the contract) to toughen their phones up and adjust to the law's minimum standards. It doesn't happen because people are too ignorant to stand up for their rights.
2) Something Cex build-into their business model a lot, incidentally. Buying from Cex and getting a good deal? Then you are lucky.
I've been a customer of theirs since 1997. These days many MANY items they sell are broken. I have detailed evidence if you like... Running at something like 70% of items bought there at this point (and guess where I don't shop any more?)
They used to claim "we test our items so well that we can confidently offer a two year warranty". They used to run their PCs on a looped 3DMark benchmark in the shop, to show their reliability (Goodge St).
Now they dropped the "we test our items so well" because they often just DON'T (more profitable when the average customer is ignorant, has low self-esteem to stand up against criminal denial of their statutory rights, etc. I've spoken to Cex Store Managers who were literally PROUD that "Trading Standards have been trying to get us for years and they can't." Ignoring the fact that if Trading Standards are bothering to act at all in the first place, the business is likely breaking the law. No empathy whatsoever for customers. More of that ignorant selfish culture that has been highlighted throughout this pandemic, basically. Then these idiots blame anyone else but themselves for the world's problems, as if the salary level you are at determines your effect on the world and nothing else exists (which is obviously delusional as a world-view, as we're all linked, maximum 6 degrees of separation on the globe if not less these days with social media and globalisation).

I'm a little confused why you are complaining about a phone being "Google everywhere" when Android is a Google product. Maybe buy Apple next time.

I can honestly say that I haven't experienced a single issue that anyone has listed here. The phone was bought second hand from CEX and other than missing the box and any original accessories, it's in perfect condition. I have found with Android in the past that when you transfer apps etc from your old phone it can cause all sorts of issues. I always do my restore from the cloud rather than direct from another phone. I live in a horrendous signal area and I'm getting a great reception where other more expensive "premium" phones have failed. When it does loose signal it switches to WiFi calling with no issue. The camera works fine and I've put it in a case just incase I drop it from 3ft. (I would suggest if you're going to use your phone as a bouncy ball that you take some responsibility for your actions and don't spit your dummy out when customer service won't fix the phone that you broke.) Anyway, all in all, for a budget phone it's doing well. Oh and it's running Android 11 with the June 2021 security patch.

Stef9, 25 May 2021Does anybody have a comment on the audio quality via 3.5 mm... moreAudio quality is average, not a high end phone. Tested with good quality sony and superlux earbuds.
My thinkpad laptop with the same earbuds connected sounds better. (Thinkpads use to carry a good sound card)
About volume I think is similar to other phones, they always limitate it to avoid ear damage.

I dropped mine 3' to the floor and it landed on its back. No screen damage or anything, except the phone will not turn on anymore and warranty won't apply because it was dropped. I should have lied. However, I also had to take the phone to a shop to get it opened to see if the battery disconnected. Taking it to a shop also voided the warranty. What a waste of money.
I did not like this phone for several reasons (besides the above). It was heavy and didn't fit my hand well. It was google google everywhere, and I am not a google fan. Could not get rid of that easily. Camera was ok, not over the top fantastic. There was no back arrow on the screen. I had to close apps and start over to go back to the previous screens. What a poor design. The battery worked as advertised, except for when the phone was hardly dropped.
If I were you, I would look for another phone.

Android 11 came to my Moto G8 Power just 2 days ago!👍 (in Finland). It's beautiful, It's fast. Preasing power on button reduced awakening by 50%. Apps and browsering etc all got faster. Visuals got a huge upgrade with new Motorola live wallpapers (same as on G 5G Plus model) and I have never seen better looking wallpapers! A fantastic upgrade this Android 11 by Motorola, to a great phone that just got even better and looking better too, which is nice and makes it look more expensive too 😃🤑 PS. As for my 2nd phone Nokia 6.2 its Android 11 update just got more delayed now to Q3 and that sucks. Motorola beats Nokia in 2021 hands down.

Sergiu, 30 Mar 2021This phone has the lowest signal reception i have ever seen... moreI guess it is a defect of your unit, I have mine for one year on now, and zero problems.
In fact I have used it in remote countryside areas with really poor signal, and altough the screen showed I had weak signal, It held the calls perfectly, unlike my previous Samsung GT or a Nokia 103 that I tried too in the same place.

I have this phone for a year now. I switched from a Moto Z I loved bit had battery issues so a wanted a phone with good battery.
The battery is very good. Even after a year. The phone overal has some issues. The camera is good but I still prefer the old Moto Z photos. Processor is ok, but I don't use heavy apps. I doesn't have 5Ghz wifi and NFC. I used NFC to charge my subway card, so that was a bummer for me. It has some issue with Bluetooth and Wifi. Bluetooth doesn't work well when wifi is on. And now, since the update to Android 11 it keeps dropping wifi. Veru annoying issue.
If they fix the wifi issues it's a good phone for the price, but for now I don't recommend buying it.

Got this phone few weeks ago, from sale. I'm mostly pleased.
Not having 5Ghz wifi is a huge bummer though, thus far that is the only major disappointment in an otherwise solid seeming device. Why skimp on such a small detail as 5Ghz wifi? Oh well...
Screen is alright, SoC seems snappy, camera seems decent, battery life is beyond reproach. Very impresses with the battery.
The call quality is normal for me, not amazing but works. I haven't experienced any lag on the device thus far (but I don't have heavy games on the phone).
Overall, it's not bad at all in any way (from my short experience with it), if you don't mind not having 5Ghz wifi.

The most disappointing phone i've used since i started using smartphones.
I know it is a cheap phone but that's no excuse to not only be this bad or to miss useful features because the previous phone i had was a xiaomi mi a2, a older phone that costed the same and yet already had a 1080p screen, 64gb storage etc, really, that phone didn't gave me 1/10 of the problems the g8 power gave me i only switched because the battery finally puffed up and it would take time to order a replacement.
I picked the g8 because well, its 2 years newer, it's a Motorola (used to be a fanboy in the past) and i was like, can only be better as it's newer... Oh boy i was wrong.
This phone slows down way too much, people complain about the audio when calling, lacks features like the 5ghz wifi that even the older a2 had (literally killing my experience with services like nvidia play and xcloud) and i lost count of how many times i had to force restart it because it froze for no reason... not to mention the loooooooog restart time, like stays unresponsive for minutes showing the motorola logo if it was forcefully restarted. the only good thing is the battery life, the rest is either average, mediocre or disappointing.

Got this at the beginning of the month.
I'm coming from the G8 Play, which is an amazing budget handset -$110 on amazon when I got it- and they carry a very similar body, so I switched my girlie quicksand case and haven't suffered at all.
What has suffered though, my handset doesn't like using bluetooth headphones and mics. I had zero issue with the previous handset but there is a serious and notable lack of quality in calls of every kind. From the onboard phone app, to secondary calling aps, my browser etc... It fails massively.
I can stream videos and audio incoming just fine but I can't use the mic.
The cameras are incredible... But I do know how to photograph using manual settings... So that should be considered. I haven't had a single issue with the videos either.
The phone is weighty, so if you're using a tripod remember to add counterbalance for any extension arm filming.
