I'd say for the intended North American markets, this phone is a very good upgrade from the previous Moto G Play (2x the storage, 4 GB RAM, and 50 MP camera) It's a competitive option compared to most sub $150 USD phones in Noth America.

AnonD-1140103, 17 Jan 2024G50 is a decent phone for the category, I appreciate the su... moreIt's highly likely this phone wouldn't get any software upgrades, because low end Motorolas never get software updates, apart from the very rare security patches within the first year of release, and gets abandoned (proven by all older low end Motorolas).
The G50 on the other hand, has 4 years of security updates with 2 Android version upgrades, meaning it would get security updates until the 4th year of release. The extra RAM of 2GB and 128GB UFS storage would make a significant impact in day to day performance and longetivity.
It's definitely not bad getting a slightly older phone, because security updates don't make a significant impact on mobile phone use, and I still manage with a phone that's about to turn 7 years this year.
If you like Motorola, I highly suggest you to get a mid-range phone, because low end Motorolas are of poor value from my perspective.

It lacks more of the features that I want than the MGP, and it's probably gotten its last OS update on Android 13 while the MGP should get some on top of A13. So MGP is still the likely candidate for me.
