[deleted post]Dimensity 8300 was announced November '23 and 8300 Ultra in 2024.
A 2022 phone with the 8300 Ultra was impossible.
The 7200 or 7300 would be a fine mid-range chip for this phone. Too bad it's the entry level 6300 (however, it is still decently quick).

It's objectively a spec downgrade from the 2024 model, but I will say that's a really nice green.

Moto G 5G (2025) and Moto G Power 5G (2025) handsets have been launched in the US as the latest additions to Motorola's G series of smartphones. They are powered by MediaTek's 6nm octa-core Dimensity 6300 chipsets and carry 5,000mAh batteries with support for 30W wired fast charging Both models run on Android 15-based My UX out-of-the-box. The new Moto G models sport 50-megapixel dual rear camera units and 16-megapixel front-facing selfie shooters. The Power variant also supports wireless charging and has military-grade durability as well as a dust and water resistance rating.

I fell in love with Motorola back in 2019. I have had a few Motorola phones since then. The Moto G pure, Motorola G Power 2023, Motorola G Stylus 2024 and Motorola G Power 2024. I love budget phones. I am 39 years old and used to rave over flagships 15 years ago but quickly discovered the price isn't matching performance. These budget phones do exactly what you need a smart phone to do and do them quite well. However, I am disappointed with the Moto line the last couple of years. The chipset seems to be all over the place. One would expect a little bit of progress each year in performance and camera performance. The chipset in the G Power 2024 was worse than the G Power 2023. So surely they will fix that for the 2025 version, right? The Mediatek Dimensity 930 (G Power 2023) was released in 2022 and benchmarks better than the new Mediatek Dimensity 6300 (G Power 2025) which was released in 2024. On top of the weird chipset choices, Motorola is still using LCD screens on a $300 phone. Samsung has been offering OLED for a couple of years now for their budget line along with a few other companies. I think this will be the year I go to Samsung.

Power 2025 will receive 2 OS updates along with the 3 years of security patches.
I was hoping that Motorola would follow the EU requirement of 5 years of support throughout their new devices released worldwide. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
In the US, Motorola devices just keep dropping in price as the months roll along. That is how their phones compete against similarly priced phones from Samsung as that brand has much longer update support.

That said, the Dimensity 7200 or 7300 would have been an upgrade from the G Power (2024), Dimensity 7020 And the price could stiil be on the lower end...

Does Motorola still only offer 1 Android version update? If so, this phone will be updated to Android 16 and that's it. Samsung at least offers more updates for it's budget devices fwiw

Finally a brand that understands that a phone is basically useless in 2025 without e-sim support, well done. No e-sim no buy.

This is the last smartphone in the US with:
1- Water Resistance
2- Wireless Charging
3- MicroSD Card Slot
4- Headphone Jack (combined)
The international version (branded "Moto G75") lacks a headphone jack, but the US market gets an exception with the "Moto G Power". Unfortunately, Sony/Sharp phones are the only remaining alternatives but they're exclusive to Japan :(
