I'm guessing that half the negative reviews are from Apple or Samsung users.
This phone is great. You can't buy any other phone with the same features as this one for the same price. 128gb space, can't beat that. Very good sounding dual dolby speakers. A stylus that works great. I use it every day. My only complaint with the stylus is that it doesn't work very well when charging. Other than that, have a good screen protector and make sure it's clean and you won't have problems. WiFi calling is nice, especially since I have T-Mobile and T-Mobile signal sucks in my area. This phone is not 5G capable so if you are complaining about that, you should have bought a phone that has it. This phone is an excellent low budget phone.

It cannot multi task and multitasking is important in my area of work. I just can't take the heat. There were plenty times where I tapped on an app and it took three seconds to open, or just didn't respond to touch at all. Then, it even froze saying "system UI not responding." That's what an old PC is expected to say, but not a new phone. It's just unacceptable. I also had problems with the GPS. It lost connection and didn't reconnect for the whole evening. Unacceptable.

It does everything else that I love Android for though, including it having a headphone jack, one of the biggest reasons I switched back to an older Android model from iPhone. But I didn't know that I would be greatly compromising speed and consistency, something that is an absolute essential in today's world. If it cannot consistently present me with information from multiple sources that I need to access, then the device is useless. I should have gotten it for a fourth of the price.

I can get a Samsung Galaxy s10 for like $50 more and experience much more reliable performance.

The only things I would say use this phone for is the headphone jack, file transfer, and watching videos. But if it won't run anything smoothly besides watching videos, then I question why anyone would buy this phone if there are far better options in this price area.

I have to agree with most of the bad reviews here. I update my phone whenever a new update comes along, no broken screen or water damage.
The first year all was fine, but recently I get so frustrated with this phone I want to destroy it with a hammer.
The screen sensitivity varies and using the screen on websites is difficult, for some reason the hyperlink buttons just will not work using this phone.
The screen freezes and I have to restart and then it takes forever to actually restart. Several times I was worried it was frozen forever.
The software to use the pen is useless to me, I've used the pen successfully one time in 2.5 years and the rest of the times I tried it was just too ridiculous and not worth the frustration.
I've tried several different keyboard types and drivers but I really think the screen sensors just really suck. I have arthritis and it is freaking painful to have to retype because the damn screen doesn't work.
I have only used half the memory yet apps lag, mobile lags, everything lags.
Never again moto, y'all have a long way to go to gain my trust again.
Once I have a new phone I might just use that hammer on this one just for the emotional release over the frustration it's caused.

Works well for me. I have had it for 1.5 to 2 years now. I bought two of them for $270 each. One for me and one for my mom. Sometimes it's slow and lags, but for the most part it has done everything well. I've done everything on this phone including edit videos for YouTube, play games, and watch movies. I have probably stored hundreds of movies on here over time and watched them without any problems. Right now I have 38 movies stored. I love the space! I have never had 128gb before. I think if you run a lot of things and use up a lot of the ram then yeah it's gonna lag. This phone only has 4gb of ram. And the CPU is a 665. It's a budget phone. If you want a faster phone get a higher number CPU. My mom's phone is faster than mines but that's because she doesn't store anything or download apps like I do. Or run lots of things. If I were to choose again I would go for a phone with a faster CPU, so that I could play demanding games. But this phone has served me well and was a big upgrade for me. The stylus is a simple stylus and won't work well if you have a screen protector that's not placed well. If you have issues with your stylus it probably has something to do with the screen protector you have on it. Either the material of it or something else. When I removed my protector the stylus was working perfectly again. I installed a new protector.

When you buy a phone that says it has certain n specifications, like the ability to make and hold phone calls, receive basic text messages, connect to 4g which has been around since 2015, and it cannot do any of these things correctly, that is not a budget phone. That is a company that made millions of bad phones, didn't realize they fucked it that badly, and still are trying to make money off of them instead of scrapping the whole idea. Your argument is "you get what you pay for" when reality is, you SHOULD get what is advertised, otherwise money back.otherwise it's illegal. Otherwise it's a scam.

The phone itself functions okay, for the most part. Occasionally the entire phone freezes and requires a forced restart when you open the camera. And considering it has multiple cameras I was expecting better quality, but I mean ok. You can't ask for it all. I was excited about this phone, as an artist, I chose it specifically for the stylus. I was immediately let down. It hardly works. It has no pressure sensitivity whatsoever, and half the time the phone doesn't even respond to the touch of the stylus. If you don't hold it directly upright, it won't respond at all. This makes it practically impossible to draw or even just write with. I would be better off just using my finger at this rate. I really loved the pen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and this was 100% a downgrade. It had pressure sensitivity and quick response. This phone, however, does not. I am disappointed with it greatly.

I'm convinced most of these negative comments were paid for, lmao. The bulk of them sound like people that don't understand how to use a phone in the first place. I've had zero issues from day one going on 2 years now. You've gotta have realistic expectations when it comes to a budget device with 4GB of RAM. Disabling/Uninstalling all the unnecessary nonsense that runs in the background (especially Google) can work miracles. Not enough for you? Install a custom rom.

This phone does everything I ask of it with ease. I don't leave more than 2 or 3 apps running in the background. It's better than the 2021 as well as the 2022 Stylus models (other than maybe the camera, which is still excellent for the price). I'm not an Android gamer, but I do emulate from time to time, and it runs everything up through PSP/Dreamcast like a dream, even at 2-3x resolutions.

Conclusion: Does the phone run a little wonky out of the box without tweaks? Sure. Debloat, don't go crazy on the multitasking, and it'll treat you like a king/queen. You can get this thing for $125 USD now if you look hard enough. There's nothing to complain about.

The B Man, 06 Feb 2022This is the worst android phone I have ever owned - and I h... moreNot sure if your still using your Moto G Stylus, but I had all the same issues you outlined after the upgrade to Android 11.

Found two things that made all this issues go away:

                            1) Turn off "Adaptive Battery". Not sure why, but this setting just doesn't work with the Moto G Stylus

                            2) If you have an SD card, be mindful of apps that use the SD card in the background. Example: I use OneDrive to backupy camera roll, and I store all my pics on the SD card. When OneDrive starts to backups the photos, then phone CRAWLS.

Turns out it's an issue with the SD card driver. Got better with a recent system update, but I just avoid it by only backing up photos when I'm plugged in.

Hope that helps. With those issues resolved, I'm back to liking my phone :)

I TOTALLY hate this phone. My phone insurance company pulled an old downgrade swap a roo on me. My original Moto g stylus ran on 5g, It took a minute for me to notice that this phone is toilet flushing feces in all its functions, I had to literally run the phone on wifi and disable ALL not some ALL of the moto functions with the exceptions of the ones that have administrative copyrights over the phone. I attempted to take it an electronics expert to see if the thing could be totally dumped or hardware reconfigured and was laughed at because they thought I brought the tarsh in being funny...smh. When I contacted my carrier because they lied about the shell being under 5g and motorola and made them aware out of benefit of doubt it only has 2g/3LTE capabilities they swore it was a defect and replaced it now with a refurbished replica. Now the carry and Moto playing pass the blame and still no resolution yet. OVERALL moto is garbage I tried other models on the strength of remember their good rep when Nextel had the chirp phone they were the apple of phones. NOT NOW. Its sad when a government phone can leave even moto so called best model IN THE FLINSTONE age... You see it...A GOVERNMENT phone put me to shame.

It's great until it isn't. Brand new, I've had it for about a month tops. It's suffered no damage, no viruses, plenty of storage space left, nothing should be wrong...
Yet it consistently craps out on me. I can't go a single day at this point without having a technical issue, i regret spending money on this sorry excuse for a smartphone - and I've only ever had cheaper, smaller, dinkier phones. I am used to cheap phones that work slow, so this thing seemed to work like a dream for the first week. This review is not coming from someone who is used to having $800+ phones.
Now it brings me nothing but misery, whether it's my keyboard ceasing to function in the middle of typing until I restart the phone (upon which it restarts itself endlessly), the phone repeatedly and constantly restarting even in safe mode of it's own volition to the point where it sometimes becomes unusable for over an hour, calls randomly dropping or the person on the other end being unable to hear you out of the blue in the middle of a conversation, being unable to even open apps such as google chrome even if they're fully updated and supposedly have nothing wrong with them, etc.

If you are considering getting this device, DO NOT. It looks cool, sounds cool - but it's not. I'm literally at my wit's end. I can't even use it at this point. It's ridiculous.

Every single one of my previous phones beats this phone hands-down in terms of responsiveness and operation. Long lags, stutters, pauses, total unresponsiveness for several seconds at a time. If you gift this phone to your worst enemy, you will be accused of crimes against humanity. Last moto phone I ever buy
