And I just wanted to do something nice for my parents.
Still gotta get mom her phone so I'm just gonna get the same one.
I'm not gonna try and convince my parents to swap providers unless they want to. And aside from them hiding important specs from me they have been good to my parents so far.

I already learned my lesson anyway. Always buy an unlocked.

Fun little fact. Phone service providers like cricket don't show the specs and ram of the device. (Somehow that isn't illegal.)
The version they offer is 4gb ram 128 gig storage. Processor is the same but I paid 210$ to get my dad a new phone because I wanted to do something special for him and I don't get the 6 gig ram ver I assumed was the minimum
Should have listened to my gut feeling and got a refurbished unlocked one instead.

I have a question. I searched for this phone on Amazon and it comes up as a 4g phone, on here it says its 5g, so which one is it? Everything else matches with the info on here about the phone, its just that one detail that is different.Can someone clarify this?

I have to tell you, this is a mid-range phone that tries its best to act as a top of the line phone.
I don't care what others say, it is a STRONG phone with features enough to make me happy (I used to be a Samsung Note guy). Now that LG has gotten out of the phone business, Motorola (Lenovo) is the only option left that can give me the biggest bang for the buck. It sucks that it is a Chinese manufacturer, but at least it isn't one of those who the CCP has under their thumb (I'm pretty sure the CCP isn't spying via this phone's chipset).
That said... the camera is amazing, the battery life kicks arse, its performance in 5G is damn good, and its phone call performance works as well as a higher end phone. This one cost me $249 (via Tracphone/Total WIreless), and uses the Verizon network (Verizon recently bought out Carlos Slim's mobile properties in the USofA).
I highly recommend this phone (biggest bang for the buck out there).

lol not too bright. get this for 40 dollars at metro pcs. anyways its trash, cheap stylus, slow charging, and super dim display. plus lcd not oled blech. one plus n20 devastates this.

Bad deal at $500, but this phone seems to always be on amazon at $300 for the 8/256GB version, plus a free 256GB MicroSD card included. I think this is one of the best midrangers you can buy in the USA right now.
Only things it doesn't have that I wish it would have is
1. USB-On-the-go
2. WiFi 6
3. Brighter display
Overall a great phone for the ($300) price, especially regarding storage and RAM
