I purchased a mpx220 in Jan 05 from a cingular corp store with a 2 year program. 3 months later the software became defective and cingular agreed to replace the phone under a warrenty program.Was suppose to ship within 24 hours if i paid $8.00 which i agreed. 30 days latter no phone ever sent, status per cingular web site is In Process, repeated phone efforts revealed a backorder status, all cingular stores pulled from shelves and are not sellimg.Repeated efforts to contact cingular were unsuccessful. I have a $400.00 defective phone, a new $200.00 lesser phone which i critically needed for business and Cingular will provide no honest or accurate info as to what is going on. This is a relatively easy isuse to resolve or certainly improve with customers and cingular has failed miserably. I would like to find a phone co who values customers

This phone iz wicked! You have gotta get dis!!! Its amazing. It's like having a computer in the palm of ur hand. You can do anything on it.

My mpx220 is garbage. It maybe due to the fact that I bought it through ebay brand new but I expected it to be flawless. The phone dose not except text messages and slows down when I receive a voicemail. Other than those major defects the phones is awesome when functioning properly. In addition the battery life sucks. don’t buy from ebay.

We have two MPX220, my wife and I. Purchased them in January 2005 with Cingular. While the phones aren't perfect, we must have been lucky because we do not experience any major problem. Mine is loaded with software and does everything I expected. Sounds is not great but not bad either, the camera is OK for a cell phone camera and reception is a little less good than with another phone we have with Cingular but still OK.
I am on the web close to 5 hours a week with the MPX220 plus I use it as an emergency modem while on the road. I transfer data with it from my office to home and laptop just like a USB hardrive (I have a 512 MB miniSD card. It syncs with 2 computers flawlessly.
I wish Linux would come out with a mobile OS and put that on the MPX220.
All together, it's a great phone. I don't doubt that others had real problems but we don't.
PS: Cingular tech. support stinks but that's another story.

Ze ne comprompa this french menu
Where can I download the english rom or mayby some know how to change the language to english. becouse i only found the regional settings.
I try to find something on motorola webpage but this make me uphappy that motorola does't give customers any opportunity to find out where can I download or buy [ :( ] roms upgrades.

Used this phone for 2 weeks now - only prob with it is low volume. Had to use the handsfree to overcome it. I read that a ROM or firmware upgrade would fix it. I wanted to know where I could get this and how I could upgrade the firmware ?
Also could this phone be upgraded to Window mobile 2005 ?
Please help. Thank you.

The MPX220 is very low quality phone. I am one my second one in 3 months, after slow service from Cingular phone returns. Both phones have very low volume and always requires the separate handset for the other person to hear. Additionaly I have to remove and replace the battery and reboot as the interface locks up regulary. My colleague at work bought one and has same volume problem.

good news for mpx220, Microsoft will release Windows Mobile 2005. From some picture I saw,the operation seemed to be easier, and it looks fantastic. Hopefully we can upgrade our phone soon.

My Mpx220 is an EU version - 1.150. Can anyone tell me which one is the latest/better version? 1.150 or 1.32? Thanks!

Mpx220 can use so many softwares, but if you do not know how to use them, I suggest you to buy other phones instead of this smartphone. it is so upgradable. You can add in new functions almost everyweek by downloading from internet because so many softwares are coming out for SP.
I am using e680 right now. My phone is pretty much just for entertainment compare to my girlfriend's 220. Talking about future upgrading, I prefer 220 than e680.

this phone is a smartphone, it is backup by microsoft which means new roms are coming out so fast. My girlfriend bought one. I just upgraded it to Rom 1.32. Now the sound quanlity is improved, also is the stability.

Starting with the screen, I was quite impressed when I first got the phone. It is beautiful and clear, however, some shades of black can cause some pretty weird reflections.
The sound quality is low... I've reasoned that if you hold the phone just slightly to the side of you ear [as opposed to the center of the phone aligned with the center of your ear] it sounds great.
The build of the phone appears low; it can make creaking noises when you move the hinge. It also clicks when you open and close it, which I don't mind, but it could bother people. I do think the phone is pretty strong, though, as I've dropped it several times.
Battery life isn't too bad. I've moderately used it for three days without charge. Of course, I listened to music on an eight hour flight once almost non-stop and almost killed the battery there.
Great reception.
I'm happy. Just wish I had the black version instead of the silver version!

I had this phone for 2 months now, and it is not a good quality phone. The sound quality is very poor and requires pressing the phone to your ear just to hear. The features on the phone are great and work well. However, the sound quality is enough to resist purchasing phone.

MPX200 Pulled From Shelves, AGAIN.
Six months after the Best Buy debut, the recall, and then the re-release and release in Cingular stores, Cingular has pulled the MPX220 from shelves. I have been waiting to buy the MPX220 FOREVER now. I was at the Cingular store yesterday to hear that now Cingular has pulled the device from its shelves and Motorola has officially recalled it AGAIN!?! Don't have many details, however, I did gather that Cingular customers with the MPX220 having issues can replace the phone with the V551 however they will not be able to replace the V551 with the re-released MPX220 when Motorola ships it out with yet another firmware and hardware upgrade.
The V600, the MPX220 pulled from Cingular's shelves. I have many friends with the V551 who have daily problems. There is also an active recall on the V180 series for faulty from screens. Class action lawsuit in Ohio over the never addressed problems with V60 antenae. There was also another Motorola phone that never even hit shelves at Cingular even though Cingular had included it in their advertising post-merger, the pop-up keyboard, messaging device. So the question is...

about to return my second one and get a phone that works.... I was awaiting the release, looked forward to the features,
calls drop off, camera is not so good, and the speaker in my first one was blown.
my voice mail notification only works sometimes. features not worth the hassle...
