Hello, i have one from most V8s, i have flash it with rasptins LinuxMOD5a, now i can made photos with closed phone, i can read and answear with touch sensors on the front i like this fone so much...you can change everithing from FONT, to logos, change menu items, rename or change icons in my menu, so i like it..fucked nokia. Motorola is phone for technicians! not for analphabets because it is something like toy for adult technician, if you don´t know what you want, than buy Nokia, if you know what you want, buy motorola and edit seem´s, do what you can.

mina, 18 Oct 2008i can't download pictures frm my v8 2 my computer. how? pls... moremina,
Did you install the Motorola Phone Tools CD into your computer? It comes inside the box, very useful tool to transfer pictures, songs, synchronize your contact (if you have lots of them with your Microsoft Outlook) and back up & restore purposes. If you just plug in the USB cable between your V8 and your computer, you won't be able to transfer pictures into your phone. Install the MPT CD, you'll find it useful. One more useful tip, with MPT installed, you can also access to internet on your PC or notebook using the V8 as a portable EDGE modem, speed is slower than 3G but better than conventional 56K dialup but becareful with your bill!
*IMPORTANT*
Check out with your network provider on the charges before connecting.

josiah, 17 Oct 2008Stuart!!
pls help me..
i've confused to buy a cellphone.
... moreWow josiah, that's a great combination! Unfortunately there's not a single phone that could provide all of that in one phone right now.
The V8's using Linux, E51 with Symbian and O2 with Windows Mobile Operating System so they are all from different platforms and having owned all 3 types myself before, I would still say it depends on what you really want in the end.
*Bear in mind the info below are strictly based on my personal opinion*
What about V8:
The Linux is user friendly, you can operate it without having to refer to the manual much. It's fast, smooth, graphic's nice & sharp. I really liked the signal reception part, stable & strong, sound quality - thumbs up, fantastic. The phone size fits me just nice but not for my wife, keypad's easy to press. Since no phone's perfect, V8 lacked the flash, memory card and 3G (do you need it?) but if you can get the latest 2GB version (not the luxury version) instead of the 512MB, it'll definitely be better. For such a slim phone, battery life is a little compromise due to slim battery size (unless you use the high capacity battery) and I was a heavy phone user with my bluetooth headset connected from morning till night so I'm used to charge my V8 at least 2 times a day. If bluetooth is not turned on like in my case, I'm sure it should last you more than a day or maybe two. Overall, if you want a phone for its clarity with background noise reduction (not cancellation) capability, you'll appreciate the V8. I've tested it over and over again and I'm still impressed with the Crystal Talk technology especially when you're at a very noisy place, the other party will prefer to talk to you more instead of other phone models. Build quality is really good with metal finish, would say among the best here.
What about Nokia:
User friendly, really friendly Symbian OS, easy to use. Like you say the features, they usually come with more. But bear in mind more features like Wifi, 3G, bluetooth, high resolution graphics and the demand for thin design all compromise on battery life. (Just read on their latest E66's user opinion and you'll know what I mean). Looking for a specific contact is easy for phone but not their communicator, a bit slow. Build quality is OK for phone but their communicator has excellent built like E90, signal is good too. But if you're looking at E51, the build quality would lose to V8. Design, E51 bar design & V8's clamshell. If single hand operation is important to you, bar would be better. If 3G feature is what you're looking for in a mobile phone, then E51 should be your choice (radio, 3G).
What about O2: (I assume you're referring to PDA phone)
Screen size is the biggest among your choice - 2.8 inches. Depending on models, some with 65K or 262K TFT so they are great for watching short video clips or even movies. I've a PDA phone myself with 65K TFT, in it, I've got a full movie converted (takes about close to 300MB under high resolution) and the result is good. Pda phone running on Windows Mobile OS is excellent, I like the functionality, the storage, the usefulness and the impact it has on my life. I use the Wifi a lot but not the 3G. It's like having a secretary with you 24/7, without the headache of pay raise or bonuses and never have to hear her grumbles. Some people say it'll hang once in awhile (not often), it's normal, no worries, you won't lose a single data. It's a little bulkier than normal phones but the latest models like HTC Diamond is really sleek, like a normal bar phone size with high specs. One thing for sure, PDA phones in general does not have good signal reception as compared to normal phone. (I noticed this since 2001, owned & changed many Pda phones models up till now and all of their signals were not as stable as normal dedicated phone. For usability, if you are a first timer, you'll need time to adjust to its functions, operating menus and hand writing style. Features wise, this will win hands down but it's not fair to compare PDA phone with another mobile phone.
So like I said earlier, you'll need to decide which one is for you. If it's for work, PDA phone will be a good choice. If you want a phone for what it's originally designed for - excellent voice call, stable reception, good design, I'll recommend V8. In between this two, you'll have E51. Your decision josiah.

Did you charge your V8's battery for more than 10 hours the first time? If you did, it should last you more than 1 day at least (assuming bluetooth not turn on at all time) If you just charged the battery until it's full say about 2 - 3 hours the first time, then it won't give you a satisfactory talktime or standby duration. Tried to use it till low battery or if possible, completely drained off then charge it again for say 10 to 12 hours again and monitor it from then on.
@ Tim08
This is my opinion, "Bluetoothing" Applications to another phone in general won't work, we are not talking about songs since many songs sent via bluetooth these days are MP3 format and almost all phones support this format. Worse still, if you're sending applications meant for Linux to Symbian, Windows Mobile, etc.. that's a guarantee they won't work since their operating platforms are different. If you discover that it works under certain situation, please let us all know.

Stuart!
I would like to ask you again.
Can Motorola RAZR like RAZR V3i, Maxx V6, V8, and V9 send application via bluetooth to another phone that has bluetooth?
Example: Your Motorola V8 has an application and the appilication is Pocket Dictionary English. Your friend, he uses Sony Ericsson Z610i wants your application. You want to send him the Pocket Dictionary English via bluetooth. Can your Motorola V8 does this?
Thank you Stuart for your suggestion!
