Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Gerard,

Price for the crystal cover set is around USD 2 to 3 bucks , depending on which mall I go for the purchase. It's good that you are able to accept the overall V8's thickness up to 13mm with the cover installed - I've measured and it's about 13mm.

Opening with one thumb is possible but I don't practice that myself. The upper part of V8 where both the screens are located would be pushed and opened to the fullest by the thumb's force and the spring's assistance inside the hinge , leaving only the V8's frames contact causing it to stop at its maximum. This might not be too good for the frame & possibly the electronic ribbon connecting to the screens. (this is my opinion). So I've been opening my V8 with 2 hands all the time, but it all depends on individual's preference.

About your age, I don't believe you are too young to own any phones that you like as long as you can afford it. If you like it, you don't have to listen to other's comments, as jealousy could be the reason for them to say that. Maybe they can't afford it, or maybe they heard (hearsay) from someone that V8's not good. Hearsay is dangerous & misleading. In the future, I suggest you do your own researches (internet reviews, user's feedback, magazine's review and even trying it out personally at a phone shop)) and decide on your own whether to purchase an item or not, so I'm not just referring to phone. The very fact that this year you've been seeing more people using V8 means you have made a good choice. Many times you've probably heard or seen someone looking at a particular model they like but ended up didn't buy it. So Age is not a barrier on phone selection, money is.

Good luck Gerard.

I reallly thinnnk I'm too young to own
a V8. Here in the Philippines whenever
I go to malls I always see 20+ years old
    owning a V8... I feel too young I'm only
    12...

In the year 2007 V8 is not popular I think
I'm the only 1 in my country who owns
    a V8 or a RAZR2...

But in this year I'm surprised wherever I
    go I alwas see a RAZR2 phone...!...

Gerard, 02 Sep 2008Hi Stuart... I really want to buy a crystal case for my ... moreGerard,

Crystal phone covers are generally produced by very few small scale phone accessories manufacturers so they don't come with brands. My experience - I've purchased 2 types (designs) of crystal covers for V8, so far no scratches whatsoever on my V8 from these crystal covers in fact they prevented my V8 from it. One thing I noticed was each time I dropped my V8 (so far couple of times), the crystal cover cracked. So I sacrificed them instead of my V8. The crystal cover consist of 2 pieces, covering the front & back. The only area not covered or protected is the hinge (silver color) and both end of it. So if the phone's drop at an angle where the side of the hinge touching the ground first, that area will be scratched or damaged otherwise the phone's safe. So far I was really lucky!! (touch wood)
1st type: front cover exposing the entire 2" display.
2nd type: front cover exposing only the music control buttons - rewind, play/pause, forward and covers the majority of the 2" display but you can still see bcoz it's crystal cover. Back cover, for me it's in material.
For me, I like the 2nd type more, the protection is better and the side grips are easier to install instead of the 1st type making it easier to remove for cleaning purpose. I also found that with crystal cover, opening the flip is slightly easier. The drawbacks - slightly thicker and making the V8's elegant look slightly "hidden". For your info, I've changed about 4 sets of crystal covers already, they are cheap, it's OK. Maybe you should get a set, try it and if you don't like it, just keep it in your drawer.

I really want to buy a crystal case for my V8 but I'm scarrrred,,, to have more scratches... Because when I was using my old phone SGH-E250 2007... I bougt it a crystal case. Then after months i saw nearly 100+ scratches on it's sides... I forgot I bought a fake one.. It's only P150 or $2.5+++ US Dollars only...

I question stuart can i kmow the brand
of the crystal case you just bought?

To answer your question, there are 2 parts as I do not know exactly which one you are refering to.

                    1. Transferring music via bluetooth (phone to phone)
My experience - fast. But of course, depending on how an individual define fast. As compared to my previous Motorola Z3, V8's definitely much much faster. I've tried both Z3 & V8 in transferring music from the same source (another phone, SE K550i), probably 2 or maybe close to 3 times faster than the Z3.

                    2. Transferring music between PC and phone
This is the usual stuff, I guess you'd probably know the answer, the copy and paste thing, so to be exact, it's real fast.

I truly believe it's something to do with the Linux OS and also the V8's 500Mhz processor.

It sounds like it could be related to the phone's software. Take it in for service/ software update. I feel if it was a speaker problem you wouldn't hear anything on your headset. I hope I understood you correctly.

For your answer, you'll need to install Motorola Phone Tool software, a CD usually comes together in your V8's box. Once installed, you'll be able to see pictures, recorded videos, transfer music, update softwares and even sync with your Microsoft Outlook - in case you have calendars, contact and tasks that you want to transfer into your V8.

                                Good luck.

Wow, V8 in soft drink! You must be lucky your V8 is still functioning. I've got a friend who actually dropped his mobile phone into the toilet bowl but the part that really amazed me was how he got it back!! I didn't even ask him whether he tested the phone, you know, holding it next to the ear trying to confirm whether it's working. Ok, enough of that stuff - didn't see him using the same phone again after that.

Something for you to consider, if your V8 is less than a year, you could try claiming the battery cover and then buy the USB cover (or vice versa). My case, I got both claimed under warranty - I classified that as pure luck but you could always try and the worst you'll get is "no" - no big deal. I actually did some PR job before going to the local service centre, called in and spoke to one particular staff, be extra friendly and jovial to him / her. When I finally reached there, just try your best to get this same staff to claim it under warranty for you. I must say the success rate is probably 50% but it's worth trying.

                                      Good luck.
