If you cant afford it (since you are in government program to have a free phone and plan) then much better for you to shut up and do you think production in US is cheaper than china? Have you think about that?

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2019Then make your own phone and lets see how much to cost you making it.At least it would be made in the US then and definitely not priced at $1500. Comments like yours serve no purpose other than harassment in a failure to come up with a well thought up response...

Looking at the specs, not worth that price at all. Though, the same can be said of a few other phones that need not be named lol.

I know I'm not gonna buy this phone, that is granted. I would love to, but the price is too high and I was expecting it from the start. I don't complain about it as it is new device. I mean, it is a "test device" that may have some flies to polish up. Once the testing is done, I will really gladly consider the third gen once it is cheaper and polished out. Right now, it is pricey for me. And no, I'm not complaining about the price, it is justified.

Motorola's revenge on the iPhone for killing the flip phone.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2019Dimensions are too clunky, making it awkward to use in both it's... moreHow would you know if it will be clunky? Looking at the form dimensions it seems just right for ease of use.

I think the Snapdragon 710 was needed because it's more battery efficient than the 800 series. And Motorola didn't want to put a huge battery on it to make it even more thicker. It's already 14 mm thick when folded similar to og RAZR.

The og Pixel can hold its own after 3 years of release and the 821 is slightly inferior to the 710. This Razr also the same amount of RAM as the Pixel 4. Logic and any rationale gets thrown out the window when most people who want this is for design.

It's COMPACT. That's very, very important to alot of people. It's surprisingly heavy at 205 grams though. Galaxy Fold and Mate X are still bulky phones and don't show much polished durability.

Nostalgic trip from the old RAZR design or any flip phone from a bygone era also helps entices. This Razr and Surface Duo are the two phones to get within the next 13 months. Both so unique in a sea of sameness.

Mas, 15 Nov 2019What the hell it is outrage to adk 1500$ even iphone does not pr... moreThere are two ways of looking at this phone with this price and specs, the poor way or the rational way.

The poor/angry mob way:
You are better off with a Pixel 3a, OnePlus, Moto Z4 or Xiaomi or whatever that has better specs for a quarter of this price.

And the rational way:
This hinge and this type of flexible display is new technology. They've spent 4 years developing it, they've tried 21 different prototypes. Who's paying for this technology? Who's paying these engineers? Others just put a motherboard and a screen in a case and it's ready. The gen 1 is always way harder to create. Look at Apple with their first iPhone, they charged an arm and a leg back then because it was new technology. Motorola are also using the highest quality materials available so that it doesn't have the fate of the Galaxy Fold.
If they'd fit a bigger battery the phone would have been thicker and wouldn't remind you of the original, probably not comfortable in the hand and in the pocket either. If they'd put a more powerful processor the battery would've gone flat in 3 hours.

This is what people have been asking for for years, a lightweight phone with a big screen that can go smaller to fit properly in your pocket. It solves the problems of the above mentioned phones.
Pixel 3a has a tiny screen + text, 3a XL is way too big. OnePlus 7T is big, bulky and way too heavy, Moto Z4 is pretty big too. Last phone that is actually super comfortable to hold and put in a pocket was the Moto Z2 Force.
So you're again paying for all this engineering that everyone will start to copy and follow in the next few years and months. That's pretty good too because the price of the foldable screens will drop and we'll see cheaper RAZR versions with better specs or even flagship specs.
So people, STOP complaining about the price, if you don't like it or can't afford it, don't buy it.

No thats bad idea& disign was good but battery backup not good enough and motorolla may work on it due to only 2510 mah battery and come on and why you guys are make you own dump fellow.

Dimensions are too clunky, making it awkward to use in both it's folded and unfolded configurations. At least the Galaxy Fold fulfills two purposes: ease of use one-handed when folded and offers a large screen for media consumption when unfolded. The new RAZR solves none of the inherent problems plaguing big phones nowadays and brings nothing to the table that can really wow the user.

Cell phone size paradox - Sorted
Low specs + Battery capacity - You should try it first (for sure the optimization is top)
Only US, not global - Which lab rats would be better off trying this concept more than the nostalgic and can-afford ones?

WELL DONE MOTO! You nailed it!!!
