camera: much better than previous models of the v series
built: solid, at least better then v3x
menu system: fast response time, smooth and much different than the previous v series, better design, more apps included
design: slimmer than v3x but a bit thicker than v3i or v3xx I think. touch sensitive buttons on cover are very practical and work perfectly. the highlight is the mirror-like feeeling of the front cover with the glass material used

I got this phone 3 days ago in Greece from TIM stores. The phone comes with its original menu and all black! it's a beauty. The feeling of the back part and the battery cover is superb. The front is made of first class glass material and indeed it doesn't get easily scratched. It cost me 413 euros. Should you require more info, feel free to ask

well for instance you can take pictures in the night because with the v1050 i certainly could not!
I got it first because i found about the maxx in the net and went to several vodafone stores and eventually found it before being on display next week!!!

            Thanks again!

The v1050 is a bit older with 1,3 mp cam. How big is the difference? Maxx should take this game easy.
Moto sais that the glass front is some specialspecial, so scratches wont come easy.
Cool to get it before everyone else, i'm jealous, want this phone now!

Also, another con which i personally dont really care that much is that in order to record a video you'll have to go to the camera and then from the menu change it to video mode....something which could of been seperate for camera and seperate for video like in the v1050. But to be honest don't know if the vodafone menu has changed it like that....

i unfortunatly got it 2 tone because i had a discount from vodafone (being over a year customer with the same phone number) i'd prefered it black. Its nothing compared to the v1050 i had (better camera and quiker response in seeing all my photos in the mobile file)
The only bad thing is what i mention some posts before, but havent seen it doing it again.
And another con is that besides having it with the vodafone menu, it looks very fragile with the exterior glass on top, besides all that i love the design and the lights that come on when received a call and thats why i bought it (i was the first to receive it since next week i will be ready for display for people to to see and buy in the shops)...
p.s. the phone speaker for mp3's etc is very loud and nothing compared to my previous motorola...

                  Thanks aussie!
I hope I get mine totalt black, it looks little better. Stupid voda, why are they doing so?
What do you think overall, do you like the phone?

                      Aussie:

Can you post a picture of the phone so we can see the difference between the "original" and vodafones?

Got the phone yesterday from vodafone but it wasn't the plain grey color i liked, vodafone gives it in a 2 coloror tone (silver-dark blue)
Yesterday when opening the phone and putting the camera on the images showing on the screen where i wanted to take a shot had some wierd lines (blueish red but then stopped)If something like this pops aup again i'll have to take it back for a replacement..
I cost me 420 euros in greece.

last i heard it was out in Dubai like two weeks ago, before Hong Kong even. Cost probably should hustle between $400-$600 USD, so Idk how to convert to Dubai's currency.

BTW. Again this may be old hat to some of you but you can open the camera and other functions with just your voice. You don't have to assign a voice tag to each contact. You hold the call key for a second, literally tell the phone what to do, like "dial number" then say the name. You can also read out a phone number and the phone will dial it. There is a cool recorded voice which talks you thru this will you're doing it.

Nearly forgot. Picture quality is as good as you would expect for a 2mp camera. This may be a common feature but I have not experienced it before, you can close the phone with the camera running and the external screen becomes a view finder for self portraits. I liked this

The phone has the small square Orange logo on the back.

The menu system is very fast with no delays at all. A nice touch is being able to operate the music player while the phone is closed. You don't need to set it going while open. You just pick it up, use the smart key and the volume keys to scroll through your tunes. The touch sensitive keys allow you to play, pause and skip forward and back. The external screen is very clear and shows track information and also your choice of wallpaper.

I don't know if I am in a hsdpa area at the moment so will have to get back to you about that. I can tell you that going online is very fast, comparable to my 1mb per second broadband connection.

I showed the phone to some friends today, many nods of approval from even the most die hard gear freaks.

Doc Pain, i found three bids on eBay for you at a reasonable price. wouldn't recommend it if you need gsm 850 however, yankee.
