Hi just got the V3 yesterday afternoon and I adore it! I cant believe that people have come on here and said how hard it is to work, it's dead easy!!! There is nothing wong with the phone at all, I love the fact that its so slim and all the funstions are great including the camera. This is my 3rd motorola and I think that they are great phones. If you are unsure about geting it when you are in your mobile/cell phone shop then get the sales assistant to show you a demo copy that way you can get a feel for the phone. If you know nothing about phones or arent good with technology then maybe you should stick with Nokia, you know what they say Nokia, any idiot can work a Nokia. But if you wnat something different give the motorola V3 a try.. I did....

I have a V3. Like most I was tempted by its good looks. No that I have it, I have a few warnings to share with you. First of all, the front screen is not sufficiently protected and the LCD screen is prone to breakage. I have owned about 20 phones over 12 years and I have never broken one, but the V3 screen cracked within 3 weeks. The phone was not dropped or abused.. it is just FRAGILE. I returned it to Motorola, buy they will not repair it under warranty and I will have to pay £75 to get it fixed. Despite being told by the Carphone Warehouse that this is a common complaint, Motorola deny this and do not accept any responsibility and claim the phone "meets THEIR standards"!
Furthermore, the battery life is exagerated and is nowhere near what they claim. The operational side of the V3 is badly designed.. too many bad functions to mention them all, but a few are: You can not send business cards. You can not extract phone numbers from text messages to save them. When you load phone numbers from sim to phone, all the numbers appear twice as you can not tell the phone just to read the sim or the phone, it reads BOTH! .. Then you can not delete the numbers in the sim in one go - you have to do it individually. When recalling numbers from the phone book, you can only search for the first letter of the name, so if you are trying to find "Michelle" for example, it will go to "M" but you will have to scroll through ALL the M's (Max, Malcolm, Mandy, Mervin, McDonalds, .. til you eventually get to MIchelle.. you can not type in "MI" as it will go to "I"... Sorry , but apart from looks and feel, this phone has NOTHING going for it and I intend to sell mine once it is fixed.

Got it yesterday, looks great but a few problems. Phone won't communicate with PC software supplied and so I'm stuck with the foul ringtones it came with not even sure if the ringtone can be MP3 the menu is so basic.
The feel and design of the phone is lovely but overall very dissapointed sending it back.

I bought this phone as an upgrade to my other motorola, but there r 2 things I would like to know how to do if they can be done, I have search manual but can't find any details... not major probs but irritating all the same.
1. Can anyone tell me how to keep the read recipts set to Yes rather than no, I keep forgetting to tick the yes and have to know when my messages r read? and
2. Messages inbox is displayed by name but the outbox is displayed by message and would be easier for me to have it displayed by name.
This is driving me mad, please help, would be very grateful.

Just got the V3 a couple of hours ago. Just could not resist the temptation getting it as I... and yes i do specify I was attracted to the sleekness and also how thin the phone is. Currently I do have the S700i on hand. In many ways the phone will not beat the S700i but watever it is i am glad i got the V3 because its after all a practical collection. And yes its a mobile phone not a digital camera so for those thinking of adding another "blink blink" mobile, go for it. Its not a bad phone to have. =)

You can only take pictures, not video...
It has enough functions for me, though it could have had more memory. Mp3 and video isn't much use with only 5.5mb. Scrolling through the phonebook is slower than in my t610.
The reason that I bought it is the design. And I like that the screen is protected in my pocket because it's clamshell.

V3 really IS a very classy phone but the functions are terrible compared with alot of other motorola phones. There is no special reason 2 buy this phone because the only reason it is expensive is because of the material they use to make this phone. Keypads that are made by alloy etc..... The camera is lousy compared 2 Sony Ericsson S700. The design is not bad but the half flip up concept is creative but looks kinda horrible.

I'm one of many v3 owners and I'll share some impression with people who don-t know if to get one or not.
Design: Perfect. It was the reason because of which I gave up my Nokia 6600 which, 2 be honest, is much smarter. The slickness, the innovative keyboard and the aluminium are worth all the money.
Menu: in comparison to Nokia it's weak but after one week u'll get used 2 it. The problem I have is when I'm looking 4 a telephone number because u can only search by the first letter. It's hard when u have 500 contacts.
The VGA camera is weak for such a phone and u don't get to record videos (i didn't do it often but it's nice 2 know u can) but who cares when u've got such a showstopper.
4 me it's the perfect phone right now. The design is just great and the bluetooth works much better then Nokia's.

Hey Technophile,
I agree. Bang and Olufsen? Excellent taste my friend. Very expensive. Not for everyone though.
The Motorola V3 is an extremely classy phone. Excellent blend of function, style and class. It's not for everyone but then again what is?
If you are happy with big clunky show off items, this phone is not for you. If you like slim-designed well made items then consider the V3 Razr. When the titanium version comes out I'll get it too.
