Does anyone know if Motorola phonetools supports this phone yet?
If so, any suggestions on where to get it?

Paolo,
The plan to order the min commitment from uk vodafone wouldn't work, unfortunately. In order to get mobile contracts here, most networks require that you bring in solid proof of address--i.e. a utility statement or bank statement.
I don't know whether unlocking is possible yet for this phone (I have a moto v360 which is pretty new that I can't get unlocked, so I'd guess it might be hard). You'd definitely need to get it unlocked if you bought a vodafone branded one.
As for the sim chip, this item is quadband and the size should be the same on any sim chip. (I have an American t-mobile sim and it fits just fine in my uk phone). I'm not sure what you mean in regards to the sim chip and fitting songs...that's not what a sim chip is capable of doing--you'd need a micro sd.
And your last question about stereo headphones, I can't answer.
In the end, if you find from someone it can be unlocked, I'd say your best bet is to get one off UK Ebay, as many sellers get rid of upgrade handsets that they get for free when their contracts are renewed. One of those sellers would most likely ship to America...

I got a few more questions, if anyone could answer any of them it would be great.
1) Is their a way of turning on delivery reports on perminatly?
2) Is their a way to have the time showing on the phone when locked?
3) Can you check how much texts have been sent from it?
Thanks for any help guys :o)

Also to see the software version go into settings, then 'phone status', then 'other information' and it is their, along with other info.
What is everyone's software version anyway?
Mine is: R4513_G_08.B7.5DR_RB

Thanks anon,
Unfortunatly this just gives you a delivery report for the text that you send, it doesn't stay on for some reason? Wonder if that can be fixed or if there is another way to get delivery reports to stay on?
Anyone an update - The bluetooth doens't seem to work very well with this phone. I cannot get it to find any mobile phone! I got it to link to my PC through my USB and it worked great, but it wouldnt find my other 6230 or ky friends K700, the 6230 doesnt find the SLVR at all either. The K700 does find the SLVR and can link together but data wont send between them, so that is a bit strange. I was told by a Vodafone operator that I could take the phone into any Vodafone shop and they would look at it for me, since their is one near by I may take it in sometime during the week as I like swapping stuff with friends through bluetooth so if can't get that to work it will be a real downer.
But I still love this phone :o) every time i pick it up I feel cooler lol was playing the prince of persia demo that you get with the phone, its a pretty damn good game, i may have to purchase it!

To get delivery reports:
Go to create message
go into new text message
press menu buttom (the one above the 'up' key)
go to message options
change delivery report to yes
I don't know if that does it for that one message or for all messages. Give it a try and let us know!

I've been searching to get the delivery reports on the phone and as far as I can find, it can't be done :(
As for the usb cables - any usb-usb cable will do - just has to be the big plug to little plug (not a usb printer plug) - you can get em from anywhere that does digital camera stuff.
I'm getting a bit dissapointed with the phone, the bluetooth implementation is really hacking me off - I'm actually very tempted to see about swapping it for a razr plus cash at vodafone, because I know the razr works with my GPS satnav...

Does anyone who has this phone yet know how to get delivery reports for texts? I dont know how to get it with Moto's????
Also does anyone know if the time shows up after the phone is locked, on the front screen?
Like the post below, my previous phone was the 6230, but I think the SLVR is alot better :o)

Mine arrived today! I have to say I am a little dissappointed. I knew it didn't do anything more than my 6230 but the functionality is so unintuitive. This is the first time I've never had a Nokia and I'm considering sending it back.
The internal memory is too small, and it's rediculous they don't give you the USB link. Does anyone know where to get one? Also, after some digging, it doesn't even look like Motorola Phonetools supports the SLVR yet.
One last thing that is really stupid but annoying me so much, why do I have to put a cross in the box next to the name of the person I want to send a text to? And it only lets you search for contacts by the first letter of their name. What if I know lots of 'A' people, I might want to search for 'AN' to save time!
Rant over.

Well got my Motorola SLVR today and so far so good. I think its a really great phone so far. When it arrived in the box(vodafone) I got:
Phone
Wall Charger
User guide (just a little one with the basics of the phone)
User guide 2 (a really extensive guide as to how to use the phone and every feature in detail, its pretty thick lol)
Crappy leaflets and Motorola warranty stuff
Was hoping for a data cable or flash card but never got any of them, not that that matters because you can get a cheap transflash card from ebay cheap and I dont need a data cable as I have a USB dongle.
First Look:
Great! This phone is very sexy. Its super slim and super light. The Vodafone UI is good. This is my first time with Vodafone and I've heard alot about people saying they hate the UI and the branding, but everything is just fine, I think. The menus are great and isn't too sluggish, it can take a second or two to load up thunmbnails of pictures but thats normal. The sound is crisp and loud enough for anyone (but you can adjust the volume). The lighting is fantastic!! It is unbelievably light and clear, it is a thousand times brighter and easier to see the buttons than on my previous phone (Nokia 6230) All in all, so far so GREAT!
If you are interested in PDA type phone, or phones for photography and all that stuff then stay clear of this phone as it won't be for you. But if you are looking for a real head turner phone with fast and easy UI then go for this. Am not the type that wants my phone to do eveything or be like a PC, I like my phone to be able to make phone calls, send texts, and look good and that is what this phone will do perfectly.
Right am off to get a transflash card from ebay ;o)

it's loud enough, but as there is only one speaker it is inherently mono.
you certainly can't miss it when it rings!! I'll say that much!
