the battery life is quite good, it varies with usage though.

I'm not 100% sure about the bluetooth implementation on this phone though. My Tomtom Go 700 satnav reports no bluetooth features detected on the phone and as such won't let me use handsfree or gprs internet features. It may just need a software update on the TTG but it works with the razr v3 so I'm not certain if the slvr's bluetooth has been paired back to hell or not.

it does allow you to transfer photos etc phone to phone but I haven't figured out about tones or music etc. (Might be part of the iTunes copyright stuff - that is *if* this phone will ever have it)

Hey guys, wanna get this phone soon from Carphonewarehouse. Just 2 quick questions to help settle some thoughts.

      1) How's the battery life like? Does it go 4 days if u dont use it? If u DO use it, how fast does it go off.

      2) How's the bluetooth like? Does it allow transfer of songs/photos between other bluetooth enabled phones? Also, does it support bluetooth headphones (A2DP?)

thanks in advance guys.all in all, is there anyone here who regretted getting the L8?

frs2421: that's all I got too, I thought there was stuff missing tbh - I got a cheapy looking userguide, quick start guide, couple other bits of paper and a motorola branded usb charger in a plastic bag.

there's a Motorola Phone Tools application floating around but it's £££ and tbh if nokia can give that stuff away, so can moto.

I must admit to feeling a bit short changed with it (even tho I did get mine free on contract, it's going to cost me at least £540 to see the contract out), I initially bought the slvr on looks and the fact it had iTunes - the looks are there but the iTunes isn't and the whole package appears "rushed" - maybe in 6 months there'll be reflashes for it to include iTunes and so on... who knows!

It's nice to have a phone that does what it says on the box, as opposed to a smartphone which tries to be a jack of all trades and ends up a master of none, but as before - the purchasing experience and "honeymoon" period leaves a little to be desired, and it makes it seem that moto have concentrated more on the looks and less on the content.

It could, of course - be all voda's fault though, I remember seeing the V3 retail boxes (metal jobbies) and it could be that the L7 is the same, but we've been cheapened by voda! only time will tell!

Dave, Its the whole vodafone UI that I dont like. I usually by my handsets sim free so I'm used to the manufacturers UI which is usually better quality.

By the way, did u get a usb cable with yours? I just got manuals and a charger. Not even a software cd!

My first impressions - very nice, but in honesty I prefer my PEBL

frs2421: the only bit of the voda branding that pisses me off is the permanent softkey link to voda live... the amount of times I've accidentally connected to it by cancelling through the menus is ridiculous... the rest of it doesn't fuss me but I'd like voda to debrand that bit of it!

the buttons light up great too - but only if the light sensor on the top of the phone (beside the wrist strap loop on the top right hand corner) is covered or it's ambiently dark... if not, then no keypad lights!

I guess it saves a bit of power at the end of the day!

it's not a huge phone - you won't lose it in your pocket though but the risk of a VPL (visible phone line) is minimal as it's just over 11mm thick! it's about 4x2ins and weighs enough to reassure you it's there!

the camera is alright on the main screen of the phone but as you can't access the phone memory using the usb cable (only the memory card) and my bluetooth dongle has gone awol, I can't take any pictures off the phone itself to post up.

I was about to go for the SE V600i on 3G or the razr, but saw the slvr and as I fancied it for a while, decided to go for that!

DAVE i want to ask, is this phone really big in the meta, are the buttons well lit up and is the camera good considering its vga?

also was there any other phones you would have considered at the time when you bought the L7?

I believe the phone is locked to voda as a matter of course, esp as they're the only UK carrier at the minute

no, mine didn't come with a card - it uses TransFlash and the lass at the vodafone shop said I could have had a 256mb one for 40 quid iirc... the link are doing 128s for 29.99 - extortion if you ask me!!

and yeah, it's quadband not triband

                          Dave -

Did your SLVR come with a memory stick at all? I saw this phone on ebay a few days ago and it came with a 256 mb memory stick (looked like the really small ones it uses)

                          Thanks for any help :o)

Just picked one up from Vodafone Stockport. software version all exactly the same as yours Dave. No sign of iTunes at all. Keys all ok so far.

Really nice phone. Just shame about Vodafone branding :(

Still for £150 it cant be bad

I will say one thing tho - the 6, 9 and # keys have developed a bit of a wierd creak when you press them, and they seem to be a bit flimsy... maybe one for the warranty if it gets worse, hopefully it won't come to that! (that is the only complaint I've got about the phone so far!)

No probs, I have to admit I was a bit shocked when the lass at vodafone brought the box out! I'd originally asked at the link about it, and was told it wouldn't be released on any carrier until 2006...

I'm guessing edge support will simply be a reflash or is it a hardware type of thing?.

This is the version info on my phone so if anyone gets their hands on one, it would be handy to compare:

Thanks Dave for your great comments!

It was said that first models would not have EDGE support but that those comming out in December will have it. Thus I am wondering whether they included it already or is it postponed.

I guess if it has EDGE it should clearly be stated in the manual...
