Dont get 1 of these phones on Vodafone. they install their own software which doesnt work. i had 3 in 3 weeks. the casing is cheap and chips easily, the signal strength is rubbish and you either have 3G or GPRS/ normal GSM signal. Have changed for a Sony w900, which is big but the phone is perfect, loads of signal 3G and GSM and the software is Sonys own which is tried and tested.

After about a month of waiting for the V3X from Vodaphone, I finally got it yesterday 05/01/06...I found this site as I was concerned about battery life...I received it at 9am at work, had it on charge until it told me it was fully charged. Now I admit, like anyone, when you get a new phone you have to play around with it and I didnt have any problems in getting an MP3 on bluetooth from my mate (although it did take about 40 mins to get through) My battery died this morning after my alarm went off, so I fully charged again and so far so good. In general I do like this phone, extras are good and menu's easy to navigate!! My housemate had an old moto and it was crap, but having had nokia's and my last SE V800 (3G)I do think this is currently the best 3G out at the moment, although I was tempted by the LGU880...Comments if anyone has one or knows of peeps who does.
All in all - so far so good, but this is after 1 days use so watch this space.
One minor problem was with the phone book transfer and some numbers apparently not copying in so I had to reenter them to call or send a message!!!
Cheers All

Tis a good phone aside from the short battery life and slow processing, but it looks good and has a good camera.
I just can't seem to change the SMART key as it's not appearing in the Personalise > Home Screen > Home Keys menu..??
I also can't seem to install java programs onto it straight from my PC as the phone memory doesn't seem to store unsupported file types. It also doesn't let me copy .wmv files onto it although it says it supports them..
Tis a very puzzling phone..

I once owned a V3, and I got rid of it because the thing would run so damn slowly. It seemed like it lagged at every press of a button, and after a while it was too much to handle...
Now heres my question. Does this phone improve at all in that sense? If it does... then I dont see why one shouldnt go for it... it seems pretty complete.

I'll just answer a couple questions people had too;
Yes it does have a good speakerphone.
No you cannot use normal headphones, as it only has one mini-USB style port that does headphones, charging, and USB link-up.
Yes the keypad is a warm blue in colour.
IMHO, it looks slightly better built than the V3/V3i, but it's your call. If in doubt go into the store, hold them side by side, compare features, decide.
The phonebook is searchable by first name.
Personally, I like the button press feel. Always did ever since the first razr came out. Again, very individual thing. Try before you buy.
You can have more than one number per contact, use the software and do it all via PC and USB cable is my advice.
Whilst I'm on about the software it's 'OK', make sure you restart a couple of times though, I had an issue with my first go where it sent all records in my address book to the phone TWICE and duplicated them :( Bit of a pain. Make sure it's fully installed. MAKE SURE YOU'RE ONLINE AND GET THE UPDATE. Apart from that, it seems pretty good. Music/photo/sound/data transfers are easy and pretty fast.
Is it as easy to use as a Nokia? No magic answer. To the novice, probably no. After a while and with half a brain, yes. (there's a hint) ;)

I've just had this phone a couple of days so far now, thought I'd give my first impressions.
First off, it feels pretty good quality to me. Some people have said it feels cheap, I can't understand that myself. There is a little bit of noise from the keypad, and a slight pop on some speaker playback but I think that's due to sensitivity and I'd rather have that than poor clarity. This is my first Motorola I've always had Nokias and so far I like the menus, and I'm slowly getting used to itap.
One thing I don't like is how useless the displays become when not lit. Some people have rumoured about battery problems, well mine is fine so far, will advise if I get issues.
Good screen - really bright and crisp. Good camera too, and pretty decent light. So far, I like this phone, it's nice, but then as a premium 3G handset, it should be.

hi does else anyone get a slight crackle/distortion when you use the speakerphone either to chat with someone or playing your own edited mp3 tones?
Many thanx.

This phone is excellent. I think its the best 3G phone out there at the moment. A question does anyone know how to activate the OBEX push function as I would like it to synch fully with my bluetooth carkit and send my phonebook/call log etc. I think the phone can do this but wonder if Vodafone have crippled the software?
Cheers Tito.

Bought V3x before Christmas. Phone looks good, features excellent. BUT, battery life is useless. Getting 20h standby (with no calls) has let me down most days at 4'oclock after a full night charge. Have returned to vodafone. Not looking like they will exchange it for me. It is absolutely useless. Don’t waste your money!!!

I have a newly delivered V3x. In generall it seems to be ok apart from the Bluetooth which will pair with my computer but does not report any services. I also Can't connect to Tom Tom 700 which just says that the phone is not reporting available services. Vodafone are currently looking into the problem but I suspect its a software error and I will have an uphill battle with Vodafone to replace it (Incidentally the Nokia N70 from Vodafone didn't work correctly either initially then they discovered the had not initialised GPRS on my number). At this moment I wait for a response from Vodafone.

This is a Quality handset apart from the fact that i have had a couple of these handsets and they do not pick up any other bluetooth devices for some reason. to text on this hanset is very drawn out compared to nokia n70 but the design is so much better what do you do??
p.s. does anyone know if my bluetooth problem is a general fault or just mine?
